  1. 100%. Agents are going to have to get creative this year. It really is the year to try and grab talent before the CBA changes everything as well. Shopping this winter will be like how black friday USED to be. Springer on a normal offseason gets 6/120. This year I bet he gets 4/72 with an option and a 1 and 3 year opt out (1 year to hit new cba)
  2. yeah, Mets getting new ownership absolutely killed the pipe dream of DeGrom. They will spend and honestly be up against FAs the Sox are pursuing. Scherzer is an interesting idea actually. He only has one year left...is not the ace he once was by Age...but still could be a great playoff piece. He is owed 27.3 mil salary & 7.1 signing bonus defer. If Sox strike out on Bauer and Stroman - honestly trading for him without paying any of the future deferral 7yrs/105mil could be a smart move. Gives Sox a win now experienced WS and playoff master, as well as first rights to sign him for another season or two if things go well at a manageable price (since the dude makes 15 mil/season til 2028). The question is how much would the Nationals want for him? It would take at least Dunning back plus 2 prospects. But I think this actually is a smart way to hit balls to the wall next season and still let the 2-4 young 2022 SP candidates sort themselves out.
  3. IMO the TLR play was orchestrated brilliantly. Get the fan base confused, angry, talking about a 76 year old guy to deflect off the fact that they already have a deal in place with Hinch or a complete dark horse here that nobody is mentioning and everyone will be cool with. To move a polarizing figure like Hinch into the PR refresh he needs...throw another polarizing figure as an option for everyone to loudly oppose. Step 1 of recovery clears a hurdle. Plus, it makes Jerry feel like he helped a friend. If Kenny or RH orchestrated this...BRAVO. I tend to think PR people had to come up with this idea though, it's too smart.
  4. Bob sounds worse on radio then his tweets do. How does this guy still have a job?
  5. great recap of everything. Lambert is basically out now going forward with emergence of Crochet, unless he switches over to bullpen. Hopefully Stiever can find some more velocity back next season, still like his potential. the 4 & 5 starter spots the next two years will be very interesting to see as the expectations of the team rise.
  6. yeah man. I saw that it had like 20 responses...and quickly ignored. READING COMPREHENSION MOFOs!!!
  7. oh totally agree. In my ideal it's: Start of season Giolito, #2 Bauer/Stroman/Trade, Keuchel, Cease, Dunning June Giolito, #2, Keuchel, Cease, Kopech or Dunning (We have to see Kopech get a longer look) Playoffs Giolito, #2, Keuchel, Kopech, Cease or Dunning (Kopech gets a playoff start if he holds up and Cease and Dunning both can be bullpen/long guys if needed I don't see how Reylo fits into any of this. Especially if Crochet is a 2 inning type guy/longer relief guy for 2021 and is starter for 2022. Reylo as a high impact bullpen replacement sounds about the only option if they keep him. Would rather trade.
  8. this is my only worry. That ReyLo, Cease and Dunning all get a longer leash and they don't sign a big free agent #1 or #2. ReyLo should only get a chance if there is an injury.
  9. Hahn specifically mentioned the "after world series" timing. IMO the deal is done with either Hinch or Cora and two days after WS, one will be announced, some fans here will say that they won't follow the team, some major overreactions will be made...and the rest of us will just put on some sunglasses and enjoy the bright future with a better manager than the White Sox have had...maybe ever.
  10. If Hinch comes...Springer becomes a real possibility? which Kills Bauer (unless they make him pitching coach, right? ?)
  11. In a span of 3 months my 2 favorite teams in the World have absolutely cleaned house in their manager and leadership roles. WHAT. A. TIME. for Bulls and White Sox fans.
  12. I am not a fan of the past...but he truly is the best candidate to take them to the World Series in 2021. Damn. I have trashed the Astros and am gonna have to own up this going forward.
  13. This saves cash for the Bullpen as he becomes the 2 inning guy the Sox need for 2021 as he enters rotation 2022. Trevor Bauer is REAL.
  14. Thanks for cutters, 2005 and all the attitude, but this team is changing in a new york minute...later!
  15. I am not only shocked, I am thrilled. Talk about the window Officially Open. Let's enjoy a dynasty boys
  16. This is my hopes as well. Yes, a 4mph drop is a worry, but maybe they really dodge a bullet. Being how crazy this season was for Crochet, I love that they immediately pulled him after 1 awry pitch.
  17. definitely in chicago to get tests done.
  18. Really interesting idea here. IF truly available, he would be a great second choice to Bauer if he signs elsewhere. This would definitely be a salary relief deal, but I bet 100% the Cubs will do everything they can to dump Bryant and Heyward over Darvish. So it would be an overpay. Cease, Stiever +
  19. I wonder what Keuchel thinks of him. He seems stubborn also, so I'd love his view on his results.
  20. No payroll excuses. The Bulls fired their manager and completely rebuilt an expensive front office after losing a ton of revenue as well. Put up or shut up before you die Jerry.
  21. TOR guy is important because Sox got the absolute best out of Keuchel this year. I highly doubt he is that good the rest of his contract, so you need to strike for at least two years of someone else to be reliable, eat innings and win against the best #2 of any other AL team
  22. Horrible. Hope they get his ass before he does something even worse.
  23. Diamondbacks looked terrible this season. Make a competitive offer for Gallen. See what Springer wants, but settle for a year prove it deal for Pederson and let Engel still hit lefties. Sign Colas or Cespedes and hope they can hit by 2022. Bauer makes the most sense, but he will decide where he wants to play.
