White Sox 2020 Draft Day discussion thread
EloyJenkins replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
soderstrom over Detmers? I say go BPA, but it will be interesting. -
Absolutely. I know he gets a bad rap here...but him and Boers in their heyday were incredible. Between some of their feuds, who ya crapping, and the way they handled 911, he is indeed bulletproof. I always wondered why he didn't get more involved with White Sox broadcasting since baseball is a big deal to him. Interested to see who gets the gig.

My favorite Farmism. He will be missed.

Are the Sox really not going to platoon Mazara in right field?

Trying to justify the trade?? Scouts outsmarting themselves? Just really dumb thinking? -

Seeing Kopech break 100 that easily made my pants tighter. Is that normal? -
Are the Sox legit contenders this year or 2021? If they feel their pitching health is strong enough...you keep him and try and grab a wild card and a lottery ticket. If they think Kopech and Rodon are not quite there...trade him and see what you have in Collins. This is the best approach for the future imo.
-
He will be. He will be on the fast track to replace Rodon, Lopez or Gio. That is why I loved the Gio contract. It gives him a real window to try and hit. I have him more as a really solid #2 over an ace though. His stuff is legit.

Y2Jimmy > National Reports (Moncada extended 5 years)
EloyJenkins replied to Look at Ray Ray Run's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can't remember a team that locked up its core like this without some absolute overpays. Obviously injuries and underperformance will hit, but what an absolutely great plan and off-season that Hahn and company put together. Future is so bright ... -

In hindsight if Kopech ends up being a #3 or better Sox absolutely came out on top of that trade. Yes they won a world series...but his impact compared to 5-6 years of Yoan and Kopech tilts to Sox big time -

Edwin is not going to suck though... especially in this lineup. Yermin is either trade bait or an injury replacement. -
Aaron Bummer extended 5 years/16M (plus two options)
EloyJenkins replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
With all these pieces getting locked up...this core is sustainable and tradeable if they have future needs. I really like the thought. Some will work out...and I think Bummer does. -
OF Prospects - Who will Rebound in 2020?
EloyJenkins replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Unless he develops some launch angle power, I just don't see it with him though unfortunately -
Is it wrong for me to think Robert is the righty version of Griffey Jr? He is a gazelle and literally has the best baseball body I've seen in years
-
Absolutely NOT. Teams with better advanced Scouting/Analytics would have a huge matchup advantage. This is a ridiculous idea. Seed them based on record and the and top seed plays the worst seed left. Simple as that.

This is awesome news. Twins stuck with damaged goods and no #3

Underpants signs with Giants. Dang, I thought he was a solid veteran platoon. https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/1225862411338551296?s=20https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/1225862411338551296?s=20 -
What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?
EloyJenkins replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's a tricky one. It's great to see the Sox trolling this dork...but now somehow...this dork will feel that he achieved his goal of getting noticed and make 20 more ridiculous trade claims. I am so glad to WFH today, as I can just laugh at this sillyness. -

I agree...but that won't stop me from refreshing trade rumors for the next three hours now though. Night is compromised. -

But at the end of the day we would still all skeet over it and this deal... -
Exactly. This is a win win for 2020 and beyond for Sox. They either have to pony up another prospect or deal falls through - No Maeda for Twins and they have a "damaged" reliever prospect. Good news indeed.
-
Here is the field...Outfield: Mookie Betts, George Springer, Yoenis Cespedes, Michael Brantley, Joc Pederson, Jackie Bradley Jr., Jay Bruce Betts is most likely gone. Is Springer worth the Astros Scandal risk? I say yes, but other than that...pickings are slim. JBJ could slide to RF potentially, but is he an upgrade over Mazara? Pederson is an option, but otherwise the class is just meh.

Last season nearly every FA acquisition they made had career years. Is that a coincidence...very well could be. Let's hope it was a mirage that isn't sustainable this season and they come crashing down. I just feel with Donaldson and Maeda moves...they are the clear best in the division until another teams proves so. Sox have the talent...but it needs to click. I am hopeful it will. 2021 is looking much more realistic though after the eternal optimism everyone had a few weeks ago before they made smart moves for their short window.

Was it a reaction. Yep. Overreaction...debatable. Massive. NO. that is just an attack to get likes. The Dodgers got much better last night. (Sox may have to face them in the WS the next few years still...and Sox lost out on the best "potential" FA and perfect fit for the team) The Twins got better (They always find a way to maximize a guy like Maeda) - But I like that they lost a long-term piece. I simply said it wasn't a great night...Compound that with the fact that nearly everyone on this board liked the fit of Joc, but that doesn't mean the Sox still can't get better either with a Holt or similar type and a nice trade this summer. Enjoy your likes though.
