Really? Why? Pre Injury he was looking like it all was coming together. Many pitchers come back Post TJ and are even better than their previous self. I myself thinks he lands at the high end of the #2 spectrum and has a nice 4-6 year run before he flames out.

Engel absolutely will be the platoon partner. He will also still spell Eloy in the 8th/9th defensively. This allows Leury to be the super utility for the team.

A diamond in the rough deal goes a LONG way toward building a contender. You get 3-4 of them and you win 102 games like the Twins last year. Engel to me is the real important part. IF he continues raking against lefties, that platoon will be 3+ WAR between the 2 of them. I wish Mazara had OBP to go with power, but buried in the 7 or 8 hole should be okay I guess. No more LOOGY's really is going to make a big deal for innings 6-9 going forward, and I am interested to see how Nomar reacts to a change of scenery.

So traderumors just posted a story about Red Sox getting under luxury tax. They don't want to attach prospects to Price but said.. "They are, however, willing to pay down Price’s contract to get it closer to $20MM per year rather than the current $32MM". What is consensus for Price at 3/60. Imo that is solid value, helps hit the window and shouldn't cost too much at all prospect wise. I would honestly take that over Keuchel and the rotation starts looking a lot better.

So we just need to find the Ken that only needs a 8 mil per year contract...

Hard LOCK on this. Wheeler's wife chose location and the stupid money that went to Cole and Strasburg was out of sanities reach. They still have 2+ months to get pitching and the position players have a chance to be an elite group. I get it, people are impatient, but this thought is just silly.

After sleeping the trade off...this is where I am at. In a platoon situation...this is a great use of funds and current talent. Engel can spell Eloy in the field as well and ultimately Leury becomes the super utility guy. Outside of spending a bunch on Castellanos, this COULD work. But, they MUST sign one of RYU, Bum or Keuchel if this is the path they chose, plus another pitching move also. This trade does remind me a bit of Podsednik though...giving a possibly talented outfielder a real chance to reach a better potential.

I want nothing to do with a Tampa trade. They almost always win their returns. Gallen is the only guy that makes sense outside of Snell to me. And I think Sox would be better off pairing with Dbacks

I'm not mad at this at all. Sox should not have paid that much. Really makes Wheeler a bargain though. And now controllable starters will ask for Robert or Madrigal at a minimum

I am guessing our big trade proposals for controllable starters would be something like these two options: A: Madrigal or Vaughn + Stievers + Dunning B: Lopez + Collins + Basabe ++ Option A gets you a #2 with Ace potential, option B is probably a #3 that could peak at #2. Who would take those and what would they give up?
