  1. If he gives up the game here and AL loses it will hang over his head and look terrible. EDIT - whew...no worries.
  2. I HATE Hendriks closing here. For usage and the optics.
  3. Oh boy, based on those batting cage swings, the Athletic was SO right, clearly has no power and is rushing this...
  4. No matter how it works out they have drafted 3 high upside HS position players - SS, 3B and SS/OF plus a starter. That alone makes me excited if even 2/4 hit.
  5. awesome news. hopefully they can find one more overslot gem. But LOVE that they have 4 really high upside High School kids this draft.
  6. He has changed his approach at the plate every year as a White Sox player. 2018 he was being patient and then striking out a lot looking, so then in 2019 he started attacking early in the count with that sweet swing and mashed. 2020 was Covid and shortened (it's a miracle he even produced at all) and he started showing signs of a slower bat so he got patient again out of necessity. For 2021 in the 2 & 3 role he has looked to be patient and has honed his eye to actually walk in deep counts (the antithesis of his 2018) and it almost has forced him to be that guy who sees all the pitches for the 4 & 5 hitters. I can't remember him swinging at the first pitch more than maybe 10 times this year. So to me it's an approach based thing and I am pretty sure he will be a hybrid of 2019 and 2021 moving forward. And that is a heck of a good player getting on base in the 2 hole for the next several years as Eloy/Pito/Vaughn mash behind him, even if he is just an 800ish OPS player.
  7. he deserved. heck of a night even with that wonky format.
  8. stupid ass format should be soto, ohtani, alonso and perez.
  9. Alonso got 35. what a freak. i've never seen anything like that.
  10. Damn...Mancini taking it out like he was facing Hendriks
  11. proud of our boy Benetti! hilarious to see him react to ACTUAL homers one after another.
  12. Exactly. All teams were doing it today. It's almost comical at some points hearing the TV broadcast try and be complimentary to a guy that will flame out in 1-2 minor league seasons
  13. Load up all the youngsters with upside potential. At very best, they hit the timeframe of Anderson/Moncada leaving and at very best/worst if they show anything huge, they can be used as better trade chips to continue the window run. LOVE this philosophy and love that they are looking at lefty's with great exit velocity that have performed with wood bats as well.
  14. yeah, Law pointed out specifically he has power...but contact on a longer swing could be an issue against better competition. Apparently he did really well in the wooden bat league in the fall and from fall to spring he made major improvements according to Mike Shirley. He seems really heavily scouted by sox brass, so gotta be excited about what they saw. they have garnered trust as of late.
  15. in a mediocre draft. I agree fully with OPs thought. It's become a cocky rally cry for them and they have full swagger back. IMO, they and TB are the teams in the Sox way this year to reaching the world series...I hope the sox can wipe them out next week.
  16. If they are THAT high on him ...i can get excited. The swing is very solid
