  1. The traditional theory is "power at the corners" meaning your 1st & 3rd Basemen should ideally be 25+ homer guys and RF also should be a guy who can hit homers and have a strong arm if possible. LF is typically your worst fielder, and in many cases is your biggest player outside of 1B because the ball is easiest to track in LF and the CF can cheat that side of field to help cover ground and make up for lack of speed by the LF. Examples of awesome LF bombers bombers are Eloy, Judge and Schwarber. You may have seen some people on this site really down on Moncada this year for not having much power at third. That is not ideal, but his defense and OBP are so good its has offset the lack of power. This team still needs power in RF, but Sheets is ideal against Right handed hitters, so a platoon with A healthy Engel may be very good if they don't make a trade.
  2. honestly if he has trimmed down by 10-15 pounds (which it looks like), he could be serviceable and the way he ran tonight...he looked flat out athletic for the first time in a Sox uniform. I am very conflicted. Vaughn in RF is an absolute no go though. so this is gonna be an interesting ride the next month.
  3. It isn't hard. You trade for a RH setup man (Hudson) and start to stretch Kopech out immediately with 2-3 inning outings when Keuchel is bad and eventually some 6th starter spot starts in August. But they are being stubborn and want to win RIGHT NOW. And next season will see Kopech as a starter with 100 innings and then shut down.
  4. Really nice 8th and 9th innings all over the diamond. Winning is fung.
  5. great call. I gotta say the whole sequence is amazing. the well...eloy is 2/3 against zimmer with 2 doubles....not good, the please let that be the only bad pitch he sees...and then the total dejection. incredible!
  6. I want him to get 2-3 innings the next couple weeks and build up arm strength. And I want him to be a dominant starter in the playoffs as either the #3 or 4. And I want him to win a Cy Young next season. This can be accomplished if they trade for a setup man. Otherwise, he is gonna be stuck as the setup guy. That is NOT maximizing his value. Sorry. you just watched that amazing inning...and you don't want to see that for 5-7 innings?
  7. Kopech is gonna be the 8th inning setup and never be a starter under TLR...isn't he? This is most disturbing.
  8. this injury and him losing some weight...could change his career.

  17. Vaughn in right...nope. marte better happen by tomorrow
  18. Goodwin is really starting to test the patience of does the team need Marte...
  19. First catch, immediately gets a hit...TLR logic pencils him in LF every game now 100%.
  20. When the banner unlocks full transparency...do we get an extra life?
