  1. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 12:46 PM) Really? I hadn't heard that...when? He was let go on Friday.
  2. I'm enjoying the latest disc from The Cure, "4:13 Dream". The Cure's stuff doesn't vary much from disc to disc, but the melodies are catchy and I've always like Robert Smith's whiny voice.
  3. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 11:21 AM) In the Garden of Eden lay Adam Gently caressing his madame What he didn't know As he looked at her glow Is a penis and balls...yeah "she" had 'em
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 09:54 AM) I cant even drink at Bulls/Hawks games because all they serve is Bud Light which gives me a headache as soon as I take the first sip. Also, does anyone think that the food quality has really slipped lately at the UC? YES. They serve some f***ing sandwich that smells like body odor. I don't remember what it was supposed to be, but it was a stink bomb. My friend had one at the Hawks/Oilers game and even the empty wrapper smelled so bad that we had to go to the concourse and throw the goddamned thing away. The pizza my wife and kid had at the Bulls game on Saturday night wasn't as good as before, either, but at least it wasn't offensive.
  5. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) The Black unis, 7 goals, a few fights, and, yes, $5 ice cream bars, helped ease the kids' disappointment that the UC didn't have Lemon Chills (they didn't notice the absence of cotton candy). A good time was had by all. Glad to hear you had fun! Of course, 7 goals pretty much guarantees a good time....unless the opposition scores 8, of course.... And I yammer on and on about the $5 ice cream, but I never really mind paying it to make the kid happy. I am, however, more than happy to skip the $6.50 or $7 beer (or whatever it costs now - I never buy beer at the game unless I go with my cousin who enables my inner alcoholic).
  6. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:11 AM) False. But I wouldn't mind stopping the birthday thing at around 29 or so. The person below me will see the store windows all done up for Christmas on State Street this year. Not if I can help it. The person below me is addicted (ironically) to Celebrity Rehab on VH1.
  7. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:25 AM) Taking the kids to the first game of the season at the UC tonight vs Phx. Wondering if Crawford might get the start in goal. Wondering further if that's a good thing or not. I think Huet needs a break. Giving Crawford a start is a good idea to me right now. Have a great time! Remember, no cotton candy form the kids at the UC, but they do have 5-dollar ice cream bars!
  8. I read today that they might just simulcast WBBM-AM on JMK. I wouldn't mind that. There's no news outlet on the FM dial now.
  9. MMA has replaced boxing on my radar completely. I'll occasionally watch some boxing if I happen across it while channel-hopping, but I don't plan on buying any PPVs anymore.
  10. I'm sure if no one else picks him up, he'll do some sort of web show and hunt for sponsors himself. I believe Kevin Matthews did that, as did Mike North, but I don't know what kind of money that type of show would generate. I haven't listened to him for many years (his act grew very stale to my ears), but he does have some loyal fans who would track down whatever type of show he decides to do. As for what to listen to at work, how about the Adam Carolla Show? http://www.971freefm.com/pages/podcast/43.rss
  11. But then that kid Mike (who she never did like) Pulled the most dastardly trick
  12. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 05:18 PM) True The person below me is glad it is the weekend TRUE. This week blew ass. The person below me owns a Megadeth CD.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) Speaking of Soxtalk embarassments... we need to talk. I'm proud that you're finally embarrassed with your obscene post totals, but you should probably confess to your priest....or Jason....
  14. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 12:22 PM) Can I still have his sloppy seconds? This is a comment which is embarrassing to Soxtalk particularly, and Internet message boards in general. YOU, SIR, ARE HEREBY SUSPENDED FOR SIX DAYS FROM SOXTALK!!!!
  15. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 09:38 AM) Sigur Ros - Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalust I am SO f***ing suing them for stealing that title from me! They must be following me around - I say that all the time!!!!
  16. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 07:02 AM) If you have a job that allows you to wear them, and they look fine in the usual restaurants you hang out at, cool . It all is about the lifestyle. I learned that some people, at 30, have a lifestyle that they can dress in jerseys most of the time. Must be so cool, four or five days a week, pulling on a jersey and heading to work. Let it lay, Tex......just let it lay....
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 12:49 PM) Regardless... a sport that allows fighting can't act holier than thou when a sexually suggestive remark that most kids shouldn't understand is said. This did not merit a suspension. Dallas acting shocked that Avery did this is also a joke, they knew whom they were getting when they signed him. This is the biggest joke I've seen since the strike ended. This is not a suspend-able offense. It should have been ignored or shown up only on blogspots. Now it's been blown way out of proportion. The Stars did nothing when Avery yelled AT FANS and their wives, but now this is something? Maybe had they taken any interest in policing him since signing him it wouldn't have even happened. I blame the Stars, and the NHL, for making this a much bigger deal than it was. Well, I do think it's a cumulative thing for Avery. He's said and done so many s***ty things that now he "has a record" and is on the league's radar. I don't agree with that kind of thing, but I do understand it.
  18. Oh, one other thing - I wonder how Bettman likes the repeated video and sound bytes all over the media of Avery's comments? His suspending of Avery called a lot of attention to Avery's comments, and I've been hearing it for days now.
  19. I'm torn on the Avery suspension. I guess the part that I'm not sure about is the "indefinite" tag. If you think he disgraced the league, make a judgment on what you think that's worth and give him X amount of games. At least that way we have something to compare it to and then we can debate whether what Avery said is less or more egregious than what other players have said or done. I think a league fine and a team suspension would have been the way to go on this, but even then I don't think this merits a very long suspension. Just enough to dent his pocket along with the fine and send a message that "thinking before speaking = you keep your cash".
  20. Bad news for those who love(d) Edge's beard - according to house show reports over the weekend, Edge is once again clean-shaven. ....a moment of silence, please, for Edge's face fur....
  21. It's Steve Larmer Heritage Night tonight. I don't know if you guys will like this comparison, but I always likened Ryne Sandberg to Larmer - quiet, professional, never a showboat, always solid and reliable as a player. You knew what you got with Gramps, and he was really good for a long time with the Hawks. It's a damn shame he had to get his Stanley Cup with the goddamned Rangers instead of getting one here.
  22. I'd be really surprised if the result is anything other than what you're suspecting.
  23. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) I was checking that. For my $5 shirt it would have been like $9.00 for shipping. Yeah, they ship FedEx ground, so it's to your benefit to order a few things. The shipping is the same for one item or three.
  24. I blame the money-hungry puppetmaster much more than the drug-addled, half brain-dead 60 year old (well, 60 tomorrow, anyway). Sharon Osbourne is an absolute pig who will stoop to any depth for a buck.
  25. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) What thread?
