QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 02:52 PM) EGADS my good man!!! That "hired bassist" is really the only credibility this joke of a band has! He's also the only guy tagging along for the duration it seems, and he seems to be the main guy Axl has any respect for as he has been allowed to record a solo album during all this time, and do numerous side projects. That's Tommy Stinson from The Replacements. As soon as I saw the "hired bassist" comment, I held off from saying who it was because I KNEW you'd spell it out in no uncertain terms.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) Lord, I thought you would have grown sick of that by now. Some things are just timeless.

QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 01:40 PM) For those that are fans, The Cure's newest album is pretty good. There is about 5 songs on it that I cant stop playing and shows they still have it....and now I will wash off my eyeliner. I love the Cure, and I hardly ever cry! And LMB, I'm enough of a conspiracy theorist to believe that those writers are "encouraged" to find positives about the new GnR disc. It seriously does nothing for me. It sounds very confused, which is easy for me to believe, given the number of lineup changes, rewrites, scrapping/rerecording of tracks, and so forth. I won't be buying it.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 10:56 AM) Is it the guy in the diaper that wins the song over for you? Yeah, I like every video with a diaper dude in it.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 15, 2008 -> 03:42 AM) I'm confused about 'Chinese Democracy'. Is it a GNR record with the original line up? Or is fat Axl with a burned out voice and those three other clowns running around in pajamas and masks? If it's the original line up, what the hell took so long to put the record out? Anyone heard any of it yet? It's Hired Guns & Rose. There are no original members on this record except Axl. He's hired and fired a bunch of guys since they started work on this disc 43 years ago. The end result is a VERY bland album that cost a fortune to produce. I've heard a bunch of leaks and I am not impressed in the least. Underwhelming would be an understatement.

QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 10:49 PM) I always liked the Fixx song "Stand or Fall". It had a stupid video, but it's a good song. All their videos were stupid.

This is my favorite song by The Fixx, Secret Separation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkL3sfs0Y18 I liked Saved By Zero but it's been played out, as has One Thing Leads To Another.

The Iron Sheik really needs help. I mean, he's 65 years old and he still flips out like this? http://www.tmz.com/2008/11/13/the-sheik-hi...ver-hulk-hogan/ He's not a good enough actor for this to be an act, is he? That part at the end where he's all calm makes it even weirder. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 11:19 PM) Before they attacked Christian tonight, they mention him going north. Yeah, I saw that on the spoilers, but if he stays he can play the "I'm TNA through and through!" angle as a face. Personally, I hope he goes back to the E, just to liven that place up a little. I'd mark like a little kid for a Christian/Jericho feud. -
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 06:02 AM) Have you ever stopped to notice how strange rock music is? I mean, it's such a part of our culture now that we hardly even notice. Our ears are so well trained for it, that we can pick out melody among all that noise. The next time you listen to it, pretend if you can, that you'd never been exposed to it before. It's really weird noise. ...maybe the stuff YOU listen to is...

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 05:16 PM) I said months ago the Hawks would nab Burke when they got the chance. Here's their chance, and they'll get him. I still think it'll end up being Stan Bowman. Toronto will make a huge push for Burke, probably overpaying in the process. -

QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) So, I finally got my chance to buy the Winter Classic seats today. All of the seats in the $200 and $300 we're sold out outside of the limited view seats. So I ended up with 2 seats in the $75 level. If my seats we're for a Cubs game they'd be great, hockey not so much! Are you going to go to the game, or are you re-selling to pay off some of the season ticket costs? -

QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) I always stick around long enough to watch the stick-raising. I'm a fan of it, I view it as the players way of thanking the fans for the support. I can do without a few of things I've seen promotional wise this season and the cubification as some have said, but, I disagree on this one. It's nice as an occasional thing, but I think it loses its charm if it's overdone. Thankfully, my work schedule almost never allows me to see it anyway, so I'm not too bothered by it. -

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 05:56 PM) Hawks are going Cub...its making me sick. I've been calling it The Second Cubbing for a while now. All that matters to me is the product on the ice and the long-overdue entry into the Television Age. Fan conventions, training camp festivals, all the other blah-blah....I don't need it. I understand completely why they're doing this stuff, and who they're courting by doing this stuff, and it is a good business strategy, it's just not what I look for at all. -

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 04:44 PM) i don't want quality opinions, i want to "feel" like someone is calling out management...(even if the most their rantings achieved was to irritate management). topics could include: WTF was john paxson thinking with this roster? WTF is going on with the bears defense? WTF was lou pinella thinking? BTW i don't drag my laptop on the train so i'm limited to newspapers and radio. There's still plenty of analytical conversation going on, it's just not spewed with phony venom. Boers and Bernstein probably come closest to what you miss from Mariotti and North. I listen to them often, and I find them funny more often than not, but I take them as a spoof of sports radio more than as a serious sports talk program. -

QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) From what they say he is Marriotti's little puppet and one of the only people in the industry that likes Jay,or atleast pretends too. Oh, yeah, I knew that. There's no doubt Couch went to the Jaybird Academy of Lowest Common Denominator Journalism. -

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 12:57 PM) Anyone else getting tired of the kissing of the fans asses in the post game speech to the crowd after announcing the three stars of the game. Somehow the marketing of this team is getting to me a little. I am not sure if it is because I just think we are being treated like everyone is or what. The red carpet night and tributes to ex-players and all of the stuff. Even the skating around after the game and intermission coverage from the concourse with the doopy people in the background. The team itself is looking really good no need for the rest of that crap. I'm right with you. The stick-raising after almost every victory is on my nerves. It's not special if you do it all the time. I don't need to be pandered to, just give me a competitive, consistent hockey team and that's good enough for me. Save the overblown celebrations for the day you finally win the most beautiful trophy in all of sports. -

I don't miss anything about either of them. It was such a nice thing to fall asleep with the Sox game on with no fear of waking up to North's idiocy. I can open the back page of the Sun-Times sports section with no chance of reading spiteful, petty venom peppered with stupid nicknames....unless Greg Couch has an article back there.... The only better thing would be LESS of them. -
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) If there are any boxing fans on here, you'll remember what a great fighter Jones was at one time. He was pound for pound the best in the sport. He was running out of people to fight. Then he got knocked out. Not your regular knockout, I mean he got put to sleep, motionless on the mat. The ref could have counted to a million, it wouldn't have mattered.... and then it happened AGAIN... in his very NEXT fight. I've never seen an athlete go from to the top of his sport, to rock bottom pretty much overnight. And it couldn't have happened to a more humble guy.
