  1. 3-1 Wild now after a PP goal. This one's slipping away quickly.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 27, 2008 -> 08:20 PM) You should of seen him sell the stunner last night. It was great. He was right on the money about one thing in his promo: WWE really needs him right now. Everything is so stale, having him back in the mix will be a shot in the arm for sure.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 27, 2008 -> 08:12 PM) Orton's ink is getting out of control. He was almost interesting, though, so that's good.
  4. Campbell gets fancy in the offensive zone, gives up the puck for a 3-on-2 break and the Wild bury it. 2-1 Minnesota.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 27, 2008 -> 07:05 PM) Hawks are supposedly after Sundin, and the Avalanche supposedly want Khabby. link Question: If the Hawks find no takers for Khabibulin and the Sundin talks get close to a deal, do the Hawks send Khabby down to Rockford to clear cap space? I say they do, try the recall to see if anyone bites, and if not they just let him play his contract out down there and wave goodbye.
  6. QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Oct 27, 2008 -> 07:02 PM) I figured a big financial tycoon like yourself would've been good for 3-4 Winter Classic jersey's. LOL Not at 175 bones for a replica, my friend. I'm still dropping hints to the Mrs that Christmas would be a fine time for a nice red replica.
  7. Sweet passing play from Havlat to Campbell to Sharp to the back of the net! 1-0 Hawks!
  8. $175 for a non-personalized replica Winter Classic jersey? $350 for an RBK Edge Winter Classic jersey, no name/number? No, thanks. http://blackhawks.nhl.com/shop/WCJerseyPreorder.htm Toews and Kane look younger than ever in that picture - my 8-year-old looks more mature than they do.
  9. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 26, 2008 -> 03:52 PM) No, and he finally made a few notacable plays last night. He has been invisible this whole season. I mentioned it to Ian last night that you noticed him more than once last night. The other guy that has really been invisible is Ladd. Invisible really is a great word for Ladd. He just hasn't been doing anything of note at all, good or bad. On another topic, I'm really surprised that Toews hasn't netted one yet. It's going to take some crazy play or lucky bounce, and then before you know it he'll have 5 goals under his belt in no time.
  10. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 26, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) Sassone says yes. Also is looks like Buff might be going back to D full time. Buff didn't look too good when he moved back on D last night.
  11. Hawks send Hendry and Hjalmarsson down to Rockford. http://blackhawks.nhl.com/team/app/?servic...rticleid=388808 Wonder if this clears a spot for Barker?
  12. Kane scores to tie the game at 5! This has been a VERY entertaining game!
  13. VERY pretty goal by Havlat puts the Hawks up 3-2 with 8 minutes left in the 2nd period!
  14. Well, that didn't take long. Stupid penalty by Seabrook, power play goal for Detroit. 1-0 Wings, 2 minutes into the game.
  15. I think it's a testament to my negativity that I still get disgusted thinking about Podsednik's horrible, weak, pus-arm throw home in the 9th. Konerko's slam should have been the game-winning hit - Podsednik had the ball as Burke was just touching 3rd base and he still couldn't throw his ass out.
  16. So Foley's "major announcement" that will "change the face of TNA forever" is that he's doing that old "I'm The Owner" gimmick? Basically just turning the Mr. McMahon character inside out and making it a face owner against the heels? Ugh. And since the nWo gimmick is done to death, TNA decides to co-opt the old wCw "Millionaires Club" gimmick instead. Sting, Angle, Booker and Nash are now the Main Event Mafia, and if Christian loses to Booker at the next PPV he has to join them. Ugh.
  17. Champs Rock Room in Burbank closed its doors for good on Monday. They probably should have stayed at their smaller location on 87th street, they always seemed to have a decent turnout there. I never really liked the place, but it's still a bummer when a hard rock club closes down.
  18. Napoleon Dynamite Superbad Freddy Got Fingered Hey, tears of anguish count, too!!!
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) What the hell did CM PUnk do to get de-pushed like he has? Carry Batista to a decent match? Be a legit wrestler as champion? I don't get it. He's not big enough (Batista, Khali) and not small enough (Misterio). Mid-size = mid-card.
  20. Canadiens are wearing white at home tonight, the way it f***ing SHOULD BE. I'm really tired of the dark uniforms at home - leave that s*** to football.
  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 06:37 PM) I'm posting this in response to Rock's comments last page as well. See, dump and chase isn't necessarily an offensive strategy that teams rely on every single time, or close to it. Does any coach say dump it in on a 3 on 2? No coach is a dump and chase coach, and no coach is a 'carry the puck in' coach. Every single situation is different in a hockey game. There are systems, but of all games, hockey is the game with the most reading and reacting. That's really how you play it, within certain system limitations. It's all about what you have. If you don't have numbers, and if they are standing you up near the blue line, you dump it in and make them turn from backwards to forwards, go chase it down, and beat em down for it. It also depends what team you are playing, and how well their D can get to loose pucks and make outlet passes. Who's the current D pairing? How are they stacked? Who are your other forwards? Where are the backcheckers? Shift length? A well placed dump is many times better than just 'carrying it in.' Carrying it in doesn't mean instant offense, or even a better chance at scoring. Sometimes carrying it in makes no sense at all. Is it a cross corner dump? Soft dump to your own corner? High off the glass around the net? Make the goalie play it? Lots of options. A team that has no clue how to dump and chase and forecheck well has no chance of winning. You also obviously dump it in when you need a change, which happens a ton of the time. A lot of fans at games get excited for some sort of rush, only to be confused when it's dumped in and they change. No use carrying it in, even with even numbers, when you are gassed coming back the other way. With Q you are still going to have a 1-2-2 style forecheck much of the time and clog the neutral zone. They've been forcing teams to dump it in a little more than earlier in the season, and seem to be creating a few more neutral zone turnovers. With Campbell and Keith, I don't mind having them force the dump in a little more, because with as good of skaters as they are, they will get their first hopefully with enough time to make a pass or start the rush. The d has also rushed a little more and pinched in the offensive zone with more regularity. Reason they can do this, I believe, is that they've had more support near the puck carrier the majority of the time. A WHOLE lotta truth in this post.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) Oh is she wearing hockey jersey's now too? [/thread] No, she's older than 25 and doesn't want to look stupid. NOW [/thread]
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) That's why I respect her! Well, that's good, cuz she ain't dressin' to impress ME!
