  1. THN says it's Quenneville. http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/1879...uenneville.html
  2. According to The Hockey News, they've hired Joel Quenneville to replace him. http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/1879...uenneville.html
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 11:14 AM) per WSCR, Denis Savard has been fired. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=68286 At least he went out a winner? Seems like a dumb move to keep him around all summer and then fire him 4 games into the season.
  4. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 11:03 AM) Reading this thread just reminded me that I had a dream recently in which Vince McMahon died. I had a dream like that, too!! He was acting all weird and Paul London was laughing about it, then Jonathan Coachman made Vince go the other way out of the arena, then his limo blew up and no one found any remains! Then there was going to be this huge tribute show to him, but then I dreamt that Chris Benoit murdered his entire family and hung himself and that brought Vince back to life!!! Man, what a messed-up dream that was......
  5. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 08:42 AM) Not one friggin bit. Come on, you didn't like anything off of Bleach or Incesticide?
  6. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 02:51 AM) I miss the early 90's. I miss the late 70's and mid 80's.
  7. So I'm channel-surfing and I happen across ladies' pro bowling on ESPN. Clara Guerrero = I've stayed tuned to ladies' pro bowling for FAR longer than I ever had before!
  8. I almost wish the Twins had won the Central, just so I could enjoy what the Rays are doing. But they made the Sox look stupid in the ALDS, so now I can't like them. It's VERY nice seeing the Red Yanks get whomped on, but I can't cheer for the Rays.
  9. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) I shouldn't be surprised, but didn't he JUST get out of rehab that Vince McMahon paid for? Knowing him, he probably had a few pops to celebrate completing rehab.
  10. Scott Hall runnin' wild this past week! http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/2008_/1223743564.php http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/2008_/1223943560.php He really, REALLY needs to stay away from the bottle.
  11. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 06:26 PM) He's smug because he's pretty much always right when he's dealing with complete idiot callers. If i dealt with some of those assclowns all day, I'd have the same attitude. I love how Bernstein carries himself on air. When Bernstein wants to talk about the nuts and bolts of a particular game or sport, he's as good as anyone out there. It doesn't happen every day or every hour, but it's there. I love B&B, more the Bernstein than the Boers. Boers doesn't add nearly as much to the show, Bernstein carries it. I do like how B&B handle the dumb callers. What I don't like is the way Bernstein will try to paint a caller as an idiot if the caller doesn't agree with his opinion. Still, I'd say their show is one of my favorites. My favorite host overall is Brian Paruch - I really like his style. I listen to him whenever I happen across his show. That guy must have an apartment above the studio, he seems to always be there.
  12. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 05:31 PM) In general I agree. yet it reminds me of this polling I once saw for America's most beloved and most hated TV personalities. Conan O'Brien was #2 most beloved and #3 on most hated. Different strokes for different folks I suppose, as w/ all things. Very true, and just for the record, I really enjoy B&B's show. I find it funny a lot of the time, in large part because they are such jerks. I just don't take any of their opinions very seriously at all. It's just a schticky afternoon radio show to me. It's MUCH more enjoyable than the Mac, Jurko and Harry show. That show is just weak, and Jurkovic is the worst radio personality in Chicago by a mile.
  13. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 05:26 PM) The one thing I will say, however, is that Bernstein seems partially an on-air persona that cant be that insufferable in real life. As evidenced by him taming it town when he temporarily replaced Dan Patrick on the syndicated show. Whereas Murph and Boers seem to be the real projection of their real selves --- but obviously I cant confirm that assumption - you just get that sense. I agree that Bernstein could be dialing it up for the show, but he also seems to carry a smugness about himself. He's not a likable character, at least the character he presents publicly.
  14. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) Looks like the airbrush died about 2/3 of the way through the picture. The airbrush took one look at Hef and exploded.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) Plus, I've seen tits. [Ron White] "You know what they say....you see one pair of tits.....you wanna see the rest of 'em...." [/Ron White]
  16. In my dating days, I had a "signature line" that I would open with. It would break the ice, define the nature of the budding relationship, and cut to the chase. I'd just size up my lady of choice, make solid eye contact, walk up to her real confident-like, and just be all: "so.......we f***in' or what....." Hey, I didn't say it was EFFECTIVE, I just said it was my signature line!
  17. Subpar episode. A few funny lines, but overall not a great one. After 12 seasons it would be understandable if they're running out of gas.
  18. Simply judging by their on-air personas: Bernstein seems to be an insufferable asshole. Boers seems to be that little cartoon dog who runs around the bigger dog, egging him on. Murphy seems to be a hypersensitive wimp. I could definitely see how they wouldn't get along.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 11:16 AM) Joe drops the title to Sting? Way to push and build on younger talent. I don't watch TNA but they should just leave the strap on Joe for a LONG time. It doesn't seem like a great move, but I think the belt will end up going back to Joe before long. I think the "kids don't respect the veterans" angle (which has been done to death, by the way) won't have legs, so Joe will probably win it back and "earn" Sting's respect in the process. ....or not....TNA doesn't seem to do the logical things very often.
  20. So did any Soxtalkers go to the TNA Bound For Glory pay-per-view at the Sears Centre last night? TNA is really happy with the turnout - I read that the SC was 80% full. Quick Results: 1. Jay Lethal won the X Division Steel Asylum match in 12:00. 2. ODB and Rhaka Khan and Rhino defeated Angelina Love and Velvet Sky and Cute Kip in 6:15. 3. Sheik Abdul Bashir defeated Consequences Creed to retain the X Division Title in 9:15. 4. Taylor Wilde defeated Roxxi and Awesome Kong (w/Raisha Saeed) in 5:15 to retain the TNA Knockouts Title. 5. Robert Roode and James Storm (w/Jacqueline) defeated LAX and Team 3D and Matt Morgan and Abyss in a Monster's Ball match to retain the TNA Tag Titles in 20:30. (Steve McMichael was assigned to make this match suck be the special guest referee) 6. Booker T (w/Sharmell) defeated Christian Cage A.J. Styles in a three-way match in 13:10. 7. Jeff Jarrett defeated Kurt Angle with Mick Foley as the special enforcer in 19:30. 8. Sting defeated Samoa Joe to win the TNA Title in 17:10. 21. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 12, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) I think with my recent luck, that I'm going to start the first Soxtalk Monastery. The girls you're talking to are the Knights Who Say "NO".
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 12, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) Did you guys see Norwood return kicks today? Not really (I'm assuming he's good from the tone of the response), but I did hear that Elam was 30-for-30 until that miss this season. I guess you pick your poison, but the poison they chose killed them.
  23. QUOTE (Wanne @ Oct 12, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Are you f***in' s***tin' me?!?!?!?....Just why in the f*** do you squib kick and give them excellent field position to have exactly what needed to happen happen. Kick it friggin deep so the clock runs down and expect you ST coverage to tackle them. Goddamn Lovie... what a disheartening loss. I'm not a football guy, but this confused me as well. It would seem that you'd want them as deep in their own end as you could get them, to keep them as far away as possible from the most likely thing that could beat you (a long field goal).
  24. Wow. What a finish to this game. Elam hits a 48-yarder to erase his missing the chip shot earlier. Bears lose 22-20.
