Red Wings lose again, this time 1-0 in Dallas. It was a very entertaining game, despite the outcome (but for 99.9% of Soxtalk, the outcome only enhanced the joy). -

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 01:49 PM) Rumor has Flair losing to Kennedy, only to beg for a one shot deal at Wrestlemania next week. That would be a disgrace. Ric Flair shouldn't be reduced to begging for a goodbye match. If they must have him lose tonight (which I don't think they should), it would make more sense to have him lose in a disputed finish (foot under ropes or shoulder actually lifts before the 3 count), and have Vince (or more likely one of the GMs) reverse the finish on Raw so Flair can continue. You'd have to make the WM a rematch at that point, I think, unless Flair avenges the loss between now and then so the HBK match can be established. -

Proof that Dale Tallon DOES check his voice mail: http://blackhawks.nhl.com/team/app/?servic...rticleid=353814 Blackhawks recall goalie Mike Brodeur. -
QUOTE(zenryan @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 04:12 AM) Critic----are you a member of mma.tv too? some of the stuff had to have been taken out of context but that thread was pretty funny. No, not a member. I found that link off a thread at Boxing Outsider (not a member of that, either, though). I don't get deep enough into the details and minutia of MMA to feel comfortable posting at an MMA-dedicated board. Here's the video of the Kimbo/Tank fight, all 43 seconds of it: http://mmafightvideos.blogspot.com/ Announcer: "Which Tank will we see tonight? Sherman? Or Septic?"

QUOTE(JFields27 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) if i heard right the Hawks will be wearing the NIU decal on their helmets for the next 3 games (idk if they said home or just the next games) .. but nonetheless a very nice move Yeah, I heard they're wearing the NIU logo tomorrow, then the game in St. Louis and the home game after that. Very classy gesture. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 10:18 PM) I didn't think he played bad...Pavelec at the other end was phenomenal (he's been hot lately) and the Wolves carried the play a bit. Yeah, Pavelec's on a roll and the Wolves are playing really well lately. -

I was hoping to go to Rockford for tonight's Wolves/Ice Hogs game, but some minor problems at home have kept me here. Oh well. -
QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 06:46 PM) Washed up? He was never that good to begin with. His record is 9-13 and has never beaten anyone noteworthy. I say "washed up" only because he was one of the first notable names in the UFC His record was 8-6 before he lost 7 of his last 8 decisions, so I know he's never been any kind of unstoppable monster. He was always a one-trick pony knockout guy and his quick fade was inevitable because he's never been in shape.

I think Kimbo walks through Tank no problem tonight. Tank's washed up.

If this account of his book is accurate, Matt Hughes is an absolute piece of s***: http://mma.tv/tuf/index.cfm?ac=ListMessage...14943&FID=1 You have to sift through the posts to get to the guy's chapter-by-chapter synopses, but there's a TON of sickening s*** in that book.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 12:26 PM) There is no other style than Lou's deep dish. All others are just imitators. There are some pretty good imitators (Papa Joe's on S. Cicero for one), but Lou is KING! I've had St. Louis pizza, sad to say - "Velveeta on baseball cards" is what I call it.

Nick Masset reports 25 pounds lighter and stronger

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 03:55 AM) Good for him but it means absolutely nothing. Dropping weight doesn't mean you're a better pitcher. As Keith said, Wass is still the better pitcher until proven other wise. Just to play Devil's Advocate, couldn't being heavier mess with someone's mechanics? If you're carrying extra weight, maybe your motion isn't what it could be, or what it was when you were lighter? I'm not saying he's going to automatically be better for being lighter, but it's a possibility at least. I'm interested in seeing if this makes any difference in his performance. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 15, 2008 -> 05:46 PM) To me, this move tells me the Hawks really aren't concerned with this season anymore. As you said, unless Bulin can be used in an emergency situation, the Hawks are currently only carrying 1 goalie. However, they clearly are more concerned with the development of Crawford more than the current NHL season at hand, which at this point in time I agree with. I still think this season is over(I believe the Hawks would have to play around .700 hockey to get to 94 points) and it's not about seeing what you have in the organization, and defining roles for next year. A goalie always needs to see as much ice as possible to develop, and clearly thats what the Hawks are deciding to do here. I see all that, and I don't disagree about seeing what you have, but I guess the thing that bothers me is the fact that it's a noon game on Sunday. Even if it was a Sunday night game I'd prefer they just keep him with the big club (one AHL game means nothing right now to his development IMO), but I'd be less concerned than I am about this nooner coming up. If Crawford needs to see pucks this badly, then call up the other Rockford goalie to back up Lalime and keep Corey down there to play every game. He's not going to see much action at all with the Hawks - Lalime's going to play every game until Khabibulin gets back. I know the proximity is the reason they moved the AHL club to Rockford, but in this one instance I think it's a bad idea to shuttle the guy around like this. Maybe I'm alone in this....wouldn't be the first time, lol. -

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Feb 15, 2008 -> 04:56 PM) Why not keep him sharp. Lalime will play every game while Khabby is out and he should. Crawford gets the work and doesn't miss a beat with the Hawks. It is not like he is being sent dow nto play a meaningless game while missing the Hawks game. Makes sense to me. What if he's needed (due to an injury to Lalime, he gets shelled, etc.) during a noon game following a 7PM game and travel from Rockford? If he needs to stay sharp over a weekend when he's needed as a backup in Chicago, why have him up at all? Practice can't keep him sharp? Is Rockford's backup that bad? Prioritize the NHL club over the AHL club - that's my opinion. -

http://blackhawks.nhl.com/team/app/?servic...rticleid=353604 Crawford sent back down. He must not have watched the game well enough for Savvy. EDIT to say that if the idea is for Crawford to play against the Wolves on Saturday then be recalled again to watch Sunday's game, then it's the first time I'm sorry that the Hawks moved their affiliate to Rockford. -
QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 10:02 PM) It's made by Michel Gondry, who did Spotless Mind. Never know. I don't think the movie will be as simple as the trailer makes it. I hope it can end up being good, but I'm not really a big Jack Black fan anyway. The commercials I've seen are not promising at all.

The UC is going to be crazy on Sunday - it's an absolute sellout. Nothing but standing room available. I just hope they play as well against Colorado as they did the past two nights!!
