QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 10:39 AM) Scott Weiland is back in rehab. To the surprise of almost no one, unfortunately.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 10:42 AM) I've never understood that one. Why is that? I mean, even in 20 below weather I always see bigger guys wearing shorts. Why? My blubbery brethren and I don't get as cold as you normal-size people, because we have more insulation.

2007-2008 NHL Catch All Thread

I saw the first period and most of the second, and Ruutu played a hell of a game. He was barrelling out there, pressing the Flames, getting scoring chances. It was the best I've seen him play in a long time. -
I almost never wears jeans. In keeping with the Fat Guy Uniform, I go damn near exclusively with sweats and shorts.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 08:52 AM) In defense of the Sock and Schilling, I don't think the Bloody Sock was blown out of proportion or unnecessarily praised. It was one of the noblest, gutsiest performances in baseball history and deserved to be hailed as such, especially in the context. Boston winning the World Series was a huge deal, as it should've been. Because history and bias dictates that. ...yeah, if he did say so himself... I can't wait to see the bloody UnderArmour shirt. I won't miss Blowhard Curt, cuz I'm sure he won't go away!

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) In case anybody here would be interested, I've launched a website to go with my print fanzine. The website is: SONIC RUIN HOMEPAGE Click on the "Issues" tab and that will take you to a page that shows the issues I have done. Click on the issue and you can read the reviews that appeared in them. Eventually, starting with issue 4, there will also be a partial version of the print 'zine on site. Reviews will only be on the website though. Did Soxtalk start allowing blatant spammers all of a sudden???? If we don't nip this stuff in the bud, this place could become Metal Sludge with all the pornbots!!!

Pedro and Marichal at the Cock Fights
The Critic replied to The Ginger Kid's topic in The Diamond Club
I heard this story is two years old. Cockfighting is legal in the DR - maybe the activists are misplacing their energy by going after Pedro (if they have, or if they do - I haven't heard anything yet in that regard) instead of making a case with the Dominican Replubic's leaders to make it illegal? If Pedro and Juan went to the cockfights two years ago, then the snarky "Did Michael Vick not teach us all a lesson?" comment is as useless as the rest of TMZ.com. -
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 11:36 PM) (but did hit a game winning dinger in the WS) (which he wouldn't have had to hit if he didn't have such a weak jelly-arm and failed to throw out the runner at the plate in the top of the 9th when he picked up the ball in short left field as the runner was touching third base) (I am really glad he redeemed himself with that homer, but that awful throw is burned in my memory)

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 07:23 PM) I could care less whether he goes now or later. You could have dan kelly coach the damn team the rest of the way and he'd do a better job than Savvy. He'll likely last the year, but I hope he's axed immediately after. Oh, who are you kidding, you'd have the Dan Kelly Random Line Generator within a week!! -

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 12:39 PM) What, you dont think David Arquette was a good idea? I dont know you anymore While it was a HHHHHHHHHHORRIBLE idea, I never held Arquette's title reign against him. Hell, if someone offered me the chance, deserved or not, to hold the strap and work a few programs, I'd jump all over it. Besides, he donated all his wrestling paychecks to charity and flatly refused any of Russo's storylines that included him getting a clean win over anyone. -

TNA has offered a "Head Coaching" job to Bobby Knight. Man, if that stupid little publicity stunt doesn't smell like the dying days of wCw, I don't know what does. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) To me, thats a waste. Yes, getting the younger players some winning experience is a plus, but in the position the Hawks find themselves in, there is a good chance of them getting a top 3 pick. Not what you wanted this season, but try to take something good out of it. Is Forsberg really going to make his comeback on a team with one of the worst records in the league? I can't imagine him signing with a team that has a future, but has a long way to go.... I definitely don't want them to tank this season - that would do some harm to the "red rising", I think - but if they keep playing like they have, the bad record will take care of itself. I don't think I'd want them to make a coaching move this season. I'd wait until the offseason, see who's out there, and give the new coach a fresh start. I wouldn't give Forsberg a long deal, and he wouldn't make any difference at all this year, so I'd pass on him. Again, evaluate needs after the season, target younger, healthier free agents who fit the needs and go after them. -
Jesus Christ, Tex, would you just put yourself on "ignore" already? These personal attacks are getting out of hand!

QUOTE(Shadows @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) How about the Smackdown vs Raw generic created superstar Cody Rhodes!!!! COME ON. If Hardcore Sparky Plugg Holly couldn't get Cody over, how can Flair even hope to???? There is no shade of green deep enough for that sentence. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) Wouldn't it be poetic if HBK beats Flair at WM, ends his career, they have that hug, waves goodbye, cries...than low blows HBK. WOOOOO! ...and THIS is why you can't be a writer for the WW - your story would be ENTERTAINING!!! I would have a protege picked out before the WM match and have the guy come in after the low blow and just DESTROY Michaels. I'm trying to think of a decent wrestler who's dismal on the mic - that's the kind of guy who'd really benefit from having Flair as his manager. The more I think of Flair as a heel manager, the more I like it - he could be the new Heenan. -

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 02:26 PM) I'm guessing he'll go away and retire. If he still wanted to be in the business, he'd be wrestling IMO. Personally, I think he will stick around. I think he still loves the business, and he has a lot of respect for Vince, he's just too old and his body can't take it anymore. It's amazing to me how long he's been around after that plane crash - all the bumps he's taken since then, it's mind-boggling. I'd love to see him trying to teach the next Dirtiest Player In The Game, too. It would give him the opportunity to develop and refine new heels as well as establishing new babyfaces by turning on them when they don't perform to his liking. There are a lot of possibilities for Naytch as a manager. -
Downtown is quiet right now. I don't know how things are at my house, my wife is volunteering at our kid's school right now so I can't call her.

I'm comfortable with Hawk, but I'd kind of like a guy with a little less huckster/homer. I'd have loved for Rooney to transition into the TV PBP, but that ship has sailed.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:51 AM) Does Flair just go away, or do you think WWE works him into the show as a mouthpiece or GM role? I'd love for Flair to become a manager in the old-school style of a JJ Dillon, Cornette or Heyman/Dangerously, but that doesn't seem to be the fashion anymore. I think he'll become either a GM figure or maybe even a color commentator? (Coachman keeping the SmackDown seat warm, perhaps?) -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) Another show I have been addicted to is Cash Cab on the discovery channel. The looks on some of those peoples faces when the cab lights up are just priceless. Yeah, this is a fun show. I don't think I can watch it regularly, but I do stop and check it out when I'm remote-surfing.
