  1. If you set aside money to buy the upcoming WWE-produced Macho Man and Sting DVD sets, go buy yourself some beer or something instead: source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter Vince McMahon has cancelled the Randy Savage and Sting DVDs that were listed for a 2008 release. The DVDs were originally scheduled after WWE producer Kevin Dunn's television department released a list of planned 2008 releases to distributors. However, they did so with out the permission of Vince McMahon and the creative team. When McMahon found out about the plans for the Randy Savage & Sting DVDs, he immediately nixed both projects. The DVDs got on the drawing board because McMahon didn't think they were making enough first-run DVD releases. He wanted DVDs on new major legends. However, the problem is that they've pretty much through everyone who would be marketable from the past. And the feeling is anyone pre-1984 such as Bruno Sammartino, that audience is so far gone that they wouldn't sell. They've pretty much run through every major star of the past 23 years, with the exception of Sting and Randy Savage. It's not exactly known as to why McMahon nixed the Savage DVD, but it's been long rumored that there is some bad blood between the two individuals. Regarding the cancellation of the Sting DVD, it's because he's currently under contract to TNA.
  2. QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 14, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) remember Brian Daubach? heh I was actually happy when they signed him, I thought he would be a good left-handed bat off the bench. One VERY crappy year later, I was just as happy to see him leave.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 14, 2008 -> 01:44 AM) He hasn't gotten the scrutiny because he's had the success, which was my basic point to begin with. It hurts Romo's performance, but not Brady's? Some guys' performance must be enhanced by the vag, and some guys are weakened by it. Know your limitations, is what I say! If you can't schtup and win, don't schtup! The old adage in boxing is no sex before a fight, but some fighters defy that conventional wisdom, so it's all about the performance, I guess. You have to win to stop the scrutiny.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 14, 2008 -> 01:13 AM) Beanbagging hasn't seemed to a problem for Tom Brady. True, but he also hasn't seemed to receive the same level of scrutiny about it, and his teammates don't seem to care about it the way the Cowboys reportedly care. He's also had a ton more postseason success than Romo, so he's earned whatever free pass he receives.
  5. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Jan 14, 2008 -> 12:52 AM) to be fair.... if i spent a weekend in Mexico bouncing my beanbag off that beautiful retard's face, I'd probably lose the biggest game of my career too. Yeah, but that retarded beanbag target should still be available in mid-February and beyond. Maybe you take a few days' worth of beanbagging off and concentrate on the reason that retard noticed you in the first place.
  6. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 12:24 PM) What IS people's problem with David Wells? Asshole who didn't want to be here, publicly doubted Frank Thomas' injury then almost immediately was injured himself. Oh, and he sucked, too.
  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 10:55 AM) Supposedly the players the Cubs refused to part with are Tyler Colvin and Felix Pie. If it were me, Rich Hill and Sean Marshall would be considered more valuable than Pie. I dont know much about Colvin, but Hill and Marshall are both pretty decent lefties with MLB experience I think Pie's starting to head into "can't miss who did" territory. He just isn't hitting enough to be a starting MLB outfielder. If the Cubs were smart, they'd try to package him for a reliable starter before his value drops.
  8. 9000 grains. I think I'm going to bookmark this and try to spend a few minutes every day doing it.
  9. Over 200 yards rushing for Grant - if anything, he buried those early fumbles in Grant's Tomb. This has been a great game to watch!
  10. Wells Navarro Joey Belle Valentin And while I respected his talent and achievements, I always thought Carlton Fisk was an arrogant jackass. (ducking) :uhoh
  11. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 01:47 PM) Ah, damn it. Can a mod edit the title for me? No, don't change it now - the stupid jokes sprinkled through the thread won't make sense if you do! Damn, I'm too late!
  12. All fair points, and I don't disagree. The goalie position is much like that of an NFL quarterback - mistakes are amplified, credit and blame are exaggerated. It's just obvious to me that the Hawks can't create offense via callups from Rockford, so they're going to have to make the most of the meager offense they're generating right now. I'm not pinning it all on Khabibulin, since the defensive core is riddled with injuries and rookies who aren't ready. I guess that weak-ass game-winner on Wednesday is still stuck in my craw. Even that one wasn't really all Khabibulin, either - seeing Buff lift his leg instead of trying to block or redirect it made me want to vomit. (and yes, I realize I'm defeating my own argument here.... )
  13. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 04:17 PM) That is a pretty impressive lineup in Milwaukee now. Fielder, Braun, Cameron, Weeks, Hall, Hart, Hardy. All of them should be from above-average to spectacular. Agreed. If they can catch the ball at all, and if their pitching can stay any kind of healthy, they can make some serious noise.
  14. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 12, 2008 -> 09:06 AM) I was wondering what an over door was..... It goes over the hole in front of your oven.
  15. Jerry Springer read that story and now he has to change his pants.
  16. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) Was the dog booked on manslaugher charges? No, but the media dogged him for a while, and the memories will hound him forever.
  17. My problem with Khabibulin isn't the money, nor is it that I want Lalime or Crawford to play more instead. (I'm starting to get a little tired of waiting for Crawford anyway) My thing is, isn't a supposed "top-flight goaltender" supposed to be able to steal you a game once in a while? When is the last time Khabibulin stole the Hawks a game? Wednesday's game would have been a perfect example of it - Khabibulin was sharp all night, Dallas was outplaying the Hawks by a wide margin IMO, and then with 6 or so minutes left in the game he lets in a softie and the game's over. I don't think Hasek, Brodeur or someone of that stature lets in that goal at that point. I honestly can't remember the last time I thought the Hawks would've lost a game if not for Khabibulin. Don't take that to mean that I think the team's playing well right now, because they're not. Injuries or no, at some point you have to go to war with the guys you have. I think it does creep into your mind, though, if it's a close game late that your goalie has been letting you down in that situation basically since he got here. Right now is a bad time within a good time, if that makes any sense. The Hawks are definitely still on the rise, but this recent stretch is an eye-opener to me that "the future" is still not at hand, and any expectations of serious contention are a bit loftier than this team merits at this point.
  18. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) Did you like them - how was their performance? I must've deleted that part of my original post accidentally. I know I typed it and now when I saw it quoted I was like this: I thought they were really good live. I like their records (YEAH, I still call them "records", I'm an old f***, leave me alone), but live they really impressed me. I still like Face To Face so much more, but I think MCR are very good.
  19. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 12:40 PM) Chemical is a good band. Nothing to be ashamed about. I kind of like that "1234" song also, but it is VERY Bjork-like. The video is great. I saw MCR open for Face To Face a few years ago, and the F2F fans were NOT happy about My Chemical Romance being on the bill. They were complaining about the number of "posers" in line to see MCR and the fact that having them on the bill made tickets harder to get. I hadn't heard of them, so I asked one kid what they were like. He said, "You'll like them if you're into SUPER-SCARY VAMPIRES!!" (bold green added to reflect his sarcasm, since the eye-rolly smiley is gone) I haven't heard the 1234 song, so I can't comment on it.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 11, 2008 -> 11:37 AM) What's the general thought about Cam Barker? I thought he's played better the past couple games, but that comes with a few 'reservations' (for lack of a better term) -- first, I'm not the best at judging defensemen in the first place (positioning, decision-making and anything else) and second, it could just be that Richmond and Zyuzin have been SO BAD that just about anyone else back there is going to look decent in comparison to them. I'm not saying he's played great hockey by any means, but I thought he's gotten a bit better since when he was first called up. Yet he gets ripped at the 300 Level. So am I way off base here or is the general 'negative' attitude of the 300 Level wrong? I think Barker looks nervous or afraid to make mistakes. I was watching him closely on Wednesday and he and Hendry stood out as rushing their plays to me.
  21. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 11:45 PM) Better not be Schneider. We all know what type of move this needs to be, I just hope Tallon doesn't reach to save THIS season. I'm cautiously optimistic. Last night on the Score, Jesse Rogers was speculating/guessing/hoping it would be Dan Boyle of the Lightning. He figures coming off the injury may make him cheaper to acquire. I don't know what to think - Boyle's been a minus player since 2004, but career-wise, he's good for 50-60 points per season.
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) Ron Killings and Chris Harris This. Just saw on LoP that Killings will make 80K downside guarantee. Also saw, for you Maria fans, that she is confirmed to pose for Playboy, will be on the cover, and the mag will hit stands in March as part of WrestleMania promotion.
  23. I went to the game last night (free suite tickets ROOL!) and it was an entertaining yet frustrating game. Right now there is no offense - a lot of one-and-done chances, no sustained pressure, too much dump and (sometimes) chase. Khabibulin made some really good saves and then let in a HORRIBLE softie for the game-loser. The buzz for Kane's breakaway and subsequent penalty shot was pretty amazing. Too bad he out-maneuvered himself. Barker and Hendry in particular looked kind of afraid to make a mistake and would just throw the puck out of the defensive zone with no idea in mind of where it was going, or to whom. The Ice Crew is popular. The little foam pucks they were shooting into the crowd in the 3rd period are a little too popular. Ronnie Woo-Woo was there in his striped pajamas, holding an Obama '08 sign. Good crowd for a Wednesday night - almost 15,500. At Fandemonium, it's 15 dollars cheaper to have them make you a replica Toews jersey than it is to buy a pre-made replica Toews jersey. (again..... ) All in all, I had a really good time, but I didn't leave as happy as I was hoping to.
  24. "I need someone to tell the truth, Mac...................(it just can't be YOU)."
  25. Trading Marshall pretty much locks either Dempster or Marquis into a rotation spot, doesn't it? THAT ain't good for them. Plus, Soriano seems to have a mental problem about batting anywhere but leadoff, so how would he adjust to that?
