QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 12:14 PM) I am keeping my cards close on this one. I'll tell you, who I supported after the series in finished. Chance of being correct using this method is very very close to 100%.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 22, 2007 -> 10:39 AM) I used to love you. Sorry, man, a Rockies/Red Sox Series does nothing for me. Honestly, I'd rather watch a Florida Panthers/Columbus Blue Jackets game than a Red Sox/Rockies game. Hockey has always been my favorite sport by a wide margin.

I can now focus exclusively on hockey. This year's series features one team I don't care much about (Colorado) against a team I actively dislike (ESPN Sawkz). If I catch some of it by accident, that's fine, but I won't seek it out.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 10:14 PM) Hafner got pwned He's been absolutely useless this entire series.

STOP THE PRESSES!!!! TRAVIS HAFNER GOT A HIT!!!!!!!

Proof once again that the "prevent defense" only prevents you from winning. 97 yards for a TD in 1:45 because the Eagles let them get 10 yards at a time to "prevent" the big gain.

Here's an update on Lex Luger. sources: PWInsider.com, WWE.com, www.f4wonline.com At last word, former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Lex Luger is still hospitalized in Califiornia, but listed in stable condition. It appears he suffered an infection that caused a nerve impingement with his central nervous system, which led to temporary paralysis. He did not have a heart attack or stroke. Luger is currently undergoing intravenous antibiotic treatment and is expected to make a full recovery. -

Byrd: Oh dear sweet merciful Lord, I have seen many players in baseball using performance enhancing drugs. I need your omnipotent, infallible, all-knowing advice on how I should try to warn these straying members of your flock of the health dangers, legal ramifications and moral failings of their cheating ways. What, oh all-powerful and loving God, should I tell them? God: Dude......really......nobody likes a snitch, know what I'm sayin'? If ya can't beat 'em, JOIN 'EM......uhhhh, verily or whatever...... Byrd: OH. ......well, cool then. God: I know a guy if ya want. Byrd: Of course you do. You're all knowing. God: You know it!

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 21, 2007 -> 03:37 AM) They need to bring Skille back up to ensure the dev of all their young guys. This is obviously going to be a team run by Kane and Toews, so lets bring up all the young talent. I can only judge by what I saw, but Skille had a pretty bad game against the Wolves on Friday night. If that's how he's played so far, he should not be brought up yet. -
It's not looking good for the Tribe. Game 7 on the road, after losing two straight? (and YES, I was informed of Cleveland's past playoff successes in Game 7's and in Boston, but this feels ominous to me)

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) Awesome win, playing back-to-back nights and not getting to Toronto until early this morning. Puck movement was impressive today, particularly on that Keith goal. I thought Samsonov had his best game as a Hawk -- he's really good when he's got the puck. His vision isn't great and he's got to start scoring, but tonight he was very good. Another two point night for Kane and he very easily could've added a goal or two. This is absolutely fantastic. Great, great win. I can't really add much to this. This has been a really pleasant surprise thus far - I thought they couldn't be worse than last year, but their play so far has FAR exceeded anything I would have expected. -
Just listened to the show, and I gotta say, Pratt came across very well. I'm not a devotee of Colorado Rockies-based poetry , but he made some good points and sounded real smooth on the air. I was impressed, and I'll be listening whenever Pratt's on next. Now, if you have Mr. Showtime on, I dunno if I can say the same......

That was great! I'm so-so on what I think of Maher (he makes some decent points sometimes, but he is a colossal blowhard), but to take action instead of pretending the hollering douches will go away was ballsy.

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 20, 2007 -> 09:48 AM) I saw the Bill Alphonso shoot years ago and he just said Brody didn't want to sell for Luger at all. Luger started shoot fighting with Brody but nothing phased Brody and he started fighting back. Luger screams something than leaves. Alphonso raises Brody's hand and splits. Brody seems like he was difficult to work with and may have led to his murder. I'd bet Brody's attitude didn't help, but I've always heard that Invader (Jose Gonzalez) was jealous of the fact that Brody would come to Puerto Rico as he pleased (as opposed to staying in the area full-time) and he'd get paid more than the "locals". -
QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 06:59 PM) Too bad she is not attractive or else half that show would rock. Is she a celeb or just a bisexual person? She's a chihuahua with breast implants.

This is what Lords of Pain is reporting on Luger - I bolded the part that made me say "Yikes!": sources: www.f4wonline.com, Wrestling Observer Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Lex Luger (real name Larry Pfohl) is said to be in rough shape. Pfohl is currently in San Francisco for the WrestleFanfest convention. According to a source closely associated with the Cow Palace convention this weekend in San Francisco, Larry Pfohl suffered a stroke in his hotel room this morning and currently has no feeling from the waist down. We'll have more on this as it develops. -

I know this isn't NHL, but it's related so sue me. Just got home from the Wolves/Ice Hogs game at the Allstate. I had 10th row behind the visitors' bench - good times!!! Wolves win 5-4 in OT. Lots of scoring chances, lots of bad blood, evenly matched number of fans for each side. A couple things that stood out: Corey Crawford was sharp, despite giving up 5 goals. Jack Skille did almost nothing tonight. Terrible game. Cam Barker played fairly well, but took a bad penalty late in a tie game. I did a lot of good-natured ribbing with Ice Hogs fans (I especially liked referring to them as the Ice Pigs), but everyone was cool and it was a great time! -

The World Series would start three days later in Chicago. ....I was having kind of a crappy day, and then just reading this little blurb made me remember, and I feel better already..... -

Florida Jim knows how to get rid of skunks!!!! QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 18, 2007 -> 12:53 AM) But, seriously, calling animal control is not the only option. If the skunk is a male and you or one of your neighbors has a pet cat (black with a white belly works best), you can arrange for it to rub against some wet white paint and the resulting stripe down its back often fools skunks into thinking the cat is a female skunk. At that point you can usually get the cat to lead the skunk off your property. I have seen Chuck Jones depict this very strategy on several occasions, so I think your chances of success are quite high. [A quick word of caution, however. Make sure the cat knows if she is running away from le' skunk and finds that she has accidentally run off the edge of a cliff, she should NOT LOOK DOWN, because she apparently will only succumb to the pull of gravity after she has looked down to discover she is suspended in mid-air.]
