  1. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 08:41 AM) Do you have the "John Wesley Harding" album, or just the "Greatest Hits" Volume 2? Because if you like that track, you'd most likely enjoy that entire album with the exception of maybe one or two songs ("Down Along The Cove" and the title track, in my particular case). I just have an mp3 from the Greatest Hits. I've heard a lot of Dylan, I just like a select few tracks. I saw his exhibit at the RnR Hall Of Fame this summer, and I hate to say this (especially to you or Bob's namesake here at Soxtalk ) but I briefly fell asleep during the video of his live stuff. I think he's talented, especially as a songwriter, but most of his stuff just doesn't appeal to me.
  2. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 08:24 AM) Nerd. Good thing you're not touted as a Noted Prog Scholar.
  3. It's not "Spirit Of The Radio", it's "The Spirit Of Radio". ......losers......
  4. QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) how many notes you can play in 10 seconds means nothing to me, its not how many notes you can play, its knowing how many you should play. And that to me, is why rush, and most of prog, is useless in the history of music. Rush has many songs which are relatively minimal, and those are the songs I tend to like by them. I wouldn't call myself a fan of prog by any stretch, but Rush has always appealed to me. I like Neil Peart's drumming and a lot of his lyrics, Alex Lifeson is a very good guitarist, and Geddy Lee's voice got much better to me once he stopped going for the high notes all the time. Again, I'll recommend my favorite Rush disc, Power Windows, as an example of Rush not trying to squeeze too many notes into the songs. Songs like "Big Money", "Grand Designs" and "Manhattan Project" are just good, well-written rock songs.
  5. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) It's a typo. Then I have NO idea what you were trying to spell, but some lessons are in order PRONTO!
  6. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) But you assume that I actually admit to knowing you outside of the board. Yeah, I do, and I have it in print, Mr. Magazine!
  7. Did you see that cock-knob Jeter look at the camera to make sure it was on him while he was cheering Abreu's run? What a tool. Seriously. He's almost as much of a moth as Mark Grace.
  8. Killed By Death by Motorhead We Go Down Fighting by Tank Anything by the Dead Boys and a big Hawk "HE GONE" when the box hits the bottom of the hole.
  9. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) Thank you Mr. Allen. Everybody I know of personally atleast likes Rush. As for Dylan. I can't name one person I know of who owns anything by or even likes him. Yeah, you can. Granted, I only ever owned one cassette single by him, "Jokerman" (God, I love that song). *Cassette singles.....remember THAT???? What a waste of money! * I also love "Positively 4th Street", "When The Night Comes Falling From The Sky" (although I like Jeff Healey's version better) and his original version of "All Along The Watchtower". But I do love Rush MUCH more. I own 5 Rush discs and the Chronicles best-of set. Power Windows is a particularly underrated disc. Great stuff. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) (or read the book The Lords Of Chaos and learn to really love your own personal music tastes!) I have that book, it's a good yet depressing read.
  10. If Girardi tried to manage a veteran team like he managed the Fish, they'd quit on him in a heartbeat. Not sure if that says more about him or today's moneyed athletes. Girardi just rubs me the wrong way for some reason - he has that Buck Showalter "I invented the game" stench to him.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) Frank Thomas >> Minnesota pitching. 2 home runs, 3/4, 2 RBI. #35 Get two more games like that and send the Twinkies home for the winter. NICE!!!!
  12. So, who had Sgt. Slaughter in the fantasy league?
  13. QUOTE(TLAK @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 07:13 PM) The last guy I remember coming out of the booth to take over a MLB GM job was Ken Harrelson. Remember how well that worked out? Two completely different people altogether. Stone's a lot less emotional and much more measured than Hawk. If Stone wanted to generally manage, I think he'd do well. He seems, from all indications, to want to be part of an ownership group, rather than GM or field manage.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) Nice thread Life is what you take out of it, and if you dwell in the negative, that's how your life will be. ....hippie....
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) Interesting. I hadn't heard that. If there is anywhere that Stone belongs, its in the Cubs front office. The worst thing in the world for Sox fans would be a good baseball mind in the Cubs front office. Bolded to accentuate the green.
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) I think we really have a problem with anger control in this country. There are a lot of problems and it's not just in this country. People are mostly **** everywhere you look. Seems like no one ever has anyone else's interest in mind in almost any situation. *Edited out nonsensical language filter mutation.
  17. McDonough is on now, and he just announced that the first 500 applicants for the manager job will receive a Len Kasper Build-A-Bear.
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 06:08 AM) You Renegade, you were Fooling yourself to not realize it was a Grand Illusion? These are the Best of Times and before you say it, yes, I have Too Much Time on my Hands. Tex, you need a Lady! I know this girl named Lorelei, she's a Babe - maybe she'd Come Sail Away with you.
  19. I'd be fine with letting the current rotation rest/heal/rethink their approach/whatever else and then just bring them all back to camp. Starters are not too easy to come by, and the Sox don't have the minor-league depth to be giving rotation arms away. Once camp starts, use that time to see who seems to be returning to form, see what teams are having starter problems and try to deal someone then, if need be. I'm really hoping Buerhle's difficulties came just from losing a few MPH due to a tired arm, and the full winter break helps to get those few MPH back to give him a bigger difference between his fastball and change. Keep McSavior stretched out with spot starts in case of injury or ineffectiveness and concentrate on acquiring bullpen help and a leadoff man in left or center field (moving Anderson to LF if a better CF comes around).
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) Vazquez on his way to capping off his disappointing season. Also, is anyone else disturbed that Anderson looks as the bad at the plate right now as he did to start the year? I know he improved for a few months, but he's given Ozzie no reason lately for him to favor him going into next season. Anderson has no one to blame but himself if KW goes out and acquires a new CF this offseason. Yeah, Brian has had a bunch of AWFUL at-bats late in the year. He still deserves another look, I think, but I hope he does winter ball this year to work on his strike zone. He's still waving at the 2-strike 59-footer way too much.
  21. Today is the final day of the White Sox reign as World Series Champions, at least in my mind, since they didn't qualify for the tournament to repeat. I just wanted to post my gratitude to the Sox for the most fun I've had as a baseball fan. This past year has been a blast! THANKS for the memories, and GET 'EM AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!!!
  22. I smell a game-winning single to left right here. I hope I'm wrong. I'm wrong! Thank God for Phil Nuthin.
  23. Ridiculous amount of pitches thrown this inning by Bobby, too.
  24. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) bobby's got problems. we got problems next season if he ain't right Yeah, they all seem to be touching the heater. BIG strikeout on Morneau. Brain cramp by Bobby. Ugh.
  25. Where exactly was Podsednik throwing that ball? C'mon Bobby, 2 more outs.
