QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) More Tribe, Less Tiger...... Nice St.Louis and Fan Appreciation though, I like it. Yeah, but the Cleveland games were mostly weekends. The Friday and Saturday Tribe games were gobbled up while I was grabbing Ring Day, the A's and Cardinals, so I was left with Sundays to choose from. I work Sunday nights, so it didn't work out for me.

QUOTE(easyw @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) they should change the venue - that place smelled like ass. Hmmmmm......which smart-ass remark to choose??? 1 Maybe the showers at the Hyatt aren't working? 2 Cub fans will tell you that Sox fans smell that way anyway.... 3 Did Woo-Woo get into SoxFest? I think I'll go with #3.

QUOTE(Beltin'Bill @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) I know every man is entitled to his own opinion but... how can you even suggest that those crapy blue seats are better than Green ones in a basball park? We were duped when this park first opened and they acted like they kept any character from the old park. The thing I missed the most were the green seats and yellow railing the old Golden Box seating areas. It was long overdue that they go back to their baseball roots and match the seats to the grass. Sorry. What if they get Kentucky bluegrass to match the blue seats, then???

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) Since its fiction, you need to look at it as fiction. His first book places him in rehab with Leonard. That is where he meets him. I dont care what actually happened, its still a good book, and a great story. His book was turned down by multiple publishers when he offered it as a work of fiction. It's only when that fiction became "memoirs" that it got published. I am glad you like his books, I don't really have any interest in reading his works, more from his original endorsement by Oprah than the subsequent controversy.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) And was moderately big. But HONESTLY big. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) oh, and he met Leonard in rehab not jail. It'll probably be college or church by the time he gets done "recalling".

QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Your choice of Senators can't get any worse than here in the Land of Lincoln. Apparently, we have the second coming of the Messiah as our Senator. Senator Mark Prior??? REALLY????

Yeah, it sucks for him, but it would suck for everyone if they made an exception for him.

QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) Alright, quick little piece of grammar for all you guys: Quite, adv. - Actually, to a degree, to the greatest extent Quiet, adj. or v. - Making little or no noise English 101 (or 3rd grade spelling) In related news, there is no such word as "teh". Thank you.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 10:37 AM) What is the origin of the name "The Big Hurt" - is it just another Hawkism that caught on? Yeah, cuz he "put a hurt" on the baseball. -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 05:35 PM) Alright, whats his screename? I wonder if KW is an Anthrax fan?

QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) Anyone get a phone call today from players? I loved the blurb in the Times about players calling ST holders: (approximating the quote because I don't f***ing memorize the newspaper, okaaaaaayyyy????) "Hi, this is Neal Cotts, and I'm.....not really sure why I'm calling, I thought we could just chat for a minute...."

QUOTE(False Alarm @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 09:44 AM) "my friend leonard." it's about a friend he made in jail. he was in jail for, like, half an hour. Sometimes the best friends you ever have are the ones you barely even know.... I think I read that on a Hallmark card....

Oprah's just pissed that she looked foolish in front of her Estrogen Acolytes. Now she'll just instruct them to buy something else, and they will pour into their minivans ( the ones who DIDN'T get the "free cars", of course ) and rush out to buy it before the spell wears off.

QUOTE(easyw @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) I'll be at the bar friday night. I'll be wearing the old school Alan Bannister #7 home uni (with shorts!) from 1976! Kidding of course. But I will be there. But I'm not going to wear a ball player costume. Good thing, I was starting to think that maybe the "w" in your screen name stood for Woo-Woo.

I can't really say I'm surprised that Frank would lash out again, but it is very sad to see. His ego won't let him enjoy his life, it seems. I hope he can enjoy his time in Oakland, and I still appreciate all the thrills he gave me as a member of the White Sox. -
On Saturday I will be attending my ticket syndicate's draft day. So THAT will be my own little Soxfest!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) H. Christ...how much did you know the people on the conference call with NASA the night before? Oh, and Thiokol as far as I know didn't just make the O-Rings...they were the lead contractor on the entire SRB assembly. Well, yeah, but I mentioned the O-rings because that's what f***ed up. I knew a couple of the Chicago hotshots, but the main people weren't based in Chicago. Plus, I worked more with the salt/corporate side of things. It caused a GIANT s***storm for a long time, and we lost the NASA contract as a result, obviously.
-
Skippy looks like Max Headroom. And he's dumb. Not a good combo.
-
I actually worked for Morton Thiokol ( the makers of the O-rings ) at that time. We had the audio of the launch going through the paging system and everyone heard what happened. We then immediately had dozens of men in very nice suits running around panicking, having meetings and trying to figure out what happened. One very crazy day. Can't believe it's been 20 years already....damn, I'm getting old...
