QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Someone's going to say "you don't b**** when the sox get the same types of breaks" To that person i say: The refs were able to use video replay to reverse that call. During the sox game, they didn't have that luxury and it was human error on those calls. That's the key right there. To have access to every camera angle available, at any speed you ask for, and still make that call is ridiculous. I guess that's the "home field advantage" we hear so much about? EDITED to say that I really hope Pittsburgh hangs on, so that call doesn't decide anything.

Bob Howry is nothing. All he's doing is peddling that same line of crap to Cub fans that every previous player has. Win something, then you can talk, Howry.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Oh f***, the muscial guest is Death Cab for Cutie. I fail to see the fascination with this band. This show is a cluster f***. Yeah, this band is so weak, I'd have thought even the Sensitive Emo Hoodie Crew would kick their asses.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) Awwwww, I'm all warm and fuzzy inside right now. I feel you man, but it is what it is. You never know how you might react until you're actually in a situation. I tell you this though, if I'm caged up with nowhere to go and no one is helping me and two dudes are talking about taking my s*** and RAPING me??!! Then sheeeeit, you better believe we're about to straight up knuckle. I'm not talking about self-defense, that's 100% understandable. I'm talking about whether it's "worse" or "more outrageous" or "more newsworthy" depending on race or whatever. It all seems to come back to race, and that's just sad.

I know I'm being a "dreamer" or whatever, but I still find myself wishing for the day when anyone beating anyone would cause outrage in people. This world is so f***ed up.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 07:34 AM) I can't back my point up, because it's my perception. Maybe it's better if I say the DNC is farther left of center than the RNC is farther right of center. Either way, it's part of the equation. Oh, I understand what you meant. I was just adding my perception of things to show that I guess it's all how you look at it. And I don't know who's right or wrong, if there even IS a "right and wrong" with it.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 07:27 AM) No offense, but it seems to me that most of the Dems are closer to the radical left than Reps are to the radical right. Then, it's might be the influence that radical left has over the party. Whatever it is, it's what keeps me from voting Democrat unless the candidate stands head and shoulders above the other choices. On a national stage, I generally vote Republican because I am more inclined to hold conservative views, so the overall Republican agenda touches home with me more than the Democrat agenda. It's weird that you say the radical left overly influences the Dems, because I've always felt the religious right has an unduly strong influence on the Reps. I guess it's at least partly just perception, and probably partly true, but I don't think either side is as influenced by their radical factions as the other side believes.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 09:00 AM) I stand by my statement...this isn't happening. If you want Stern, you need to get Sirius. I stand opposed to your statement. and I don't so I won't.
-
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 07:59 AM) I understand...I'm saying its not going to happen. Stern got so sick of having his show shredded by the censors, that he wouldn't allow it to be edited, and put back on old-fashioned radio. I understand your point, Tony, but I disagree. I think Stern would be OK with "after-the-fact" editing of his show, since he'd have input and control over what gets aired and what gets chopped. I think the frustration he had was the fact that he had no say whatsoever in the editing process, or even what the criteria was for being clipped. Plus, it was happening while he was on the air, leading to irate callers complaining that they're hearing chopped-up bits. I'm sure a taped version of his show on terrestrial radio would find an audience, and I believe Stern's ego is just large enough to want to keep as many listeners in as many arenas as he can. I think it will definitely happen.

Sox Hire Chris Singleton to Join Ed Farmer
The Critic replied to thedoctor's topic in Pale Hose Talk
First impression.....not good. I heard a small clip of Singleton speaking on the Score, and he has a weird voice. Kind of high and squeaky for a radio voice in my opinion. Combine that with the lazy tones of Sleepy Ed and I don't think I'll listen to many games on the radio. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) ^ Supertramp-Breakfast Over America Excellent choice. Breakfast IN America Wings OVER America ....please don't disrespect Sir Paul like that EVER AGAIN....

One year my brother-in-law flattened out a stretch of his backyard, laid out some thick tarp, built a small border with wood planks and plastic coating and made one hell of a nice little mini-rink. It was about the size of an NHL offensive zone and maybe a bit of the center ice region. Not big enough to play any serious hockey, but a damn good little skating rink. His lawn was s*** that summer, though, hahaha. EDITED to add - NO, I'm not Jim Blaney's brother in law!!! I responded before I looked at the link and Blaney did basically the exact same thing my brother in law did! HA! Except my bro-in-law's rink was a little bigger, from the looks of Blaney's. I wonder if Blaney's lawn was s*** the next summer, too?

Snubbed Gossage rips Hall of Fame voters
The Critic replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in The Diamond Club
While I feel for him and agree with a lot of what he said, he sure does sound like Santo right there. ....and that is NOT a good thing.... -
QUOTE(AirScott @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) first off, that's the type of thing that should be bet on if he goes to Washington. just the thought of all the times he'd do the Sammy-Hop just for warning track shots still has me laughing to myself. and unfortunately for Sammy, Colorado really has no interest in him, as their outfield is set, but Sosa might be smartest to go to a place like Houston, a hitter's park where he could compete for a corner outfielders spot. Plus the extra added incentive of trying to stick it to the Cubs 19 times a year.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) Joe Crede is not in the last year of his contract this year any more than he was last year. He has several more years of arbitration eligibility before he can become a FA. So you're saying .265 with postseason heroics this year, then?
-
"This year, more than ever, it's apparent that they are not the Sox. Over the years, the Sox took significant chances, failed, took significant chances, failed, took significant chances, won the World Series." Isn't it funny how winning a World Series will turn "blunders", "bad scouting" and "stabs in the dark" into "significant chances"? Ken Williams can truly thumb his nose at everyone.

They tried like hell to give that game to the Crapitals, but the Craps wouldn't take it. And like Krush said, thank God for fluke goals. The game winner was a fluke and that one that bounced off a Crap defenseman's arm was ridiculous.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) Darryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden are snuffed again.. NO love for them? cocaine's a helluva drug......

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) ND is a clone of any film done by Wes Anderson. It's also a completely boring movie. Absolutely dull and lifeless. I gave away a burned copy I got from a friend - FREE wasn't a good enough reason to keep that pile of crap.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) Its been said his Son wants to televise home games. But is now hand cuffed by his fathers principles. Oh, and Yawney needs to be fired, the guy is a horrible coach. I believe that the kids are playing "good cop" while The Drunk Andy Griffith is still alive, but they will turn into Mini-Me's or sell when he croaks. Just what I believe, I have no anecdotal evidence.

I don't use them, and the only time I notice them is if they're something that I shouldn't really have on my PC at work.

I used to walk out of church feeling good. Now when I go ( which is more and more infrequently ), I don't feel much of anything. Not sure if that's a reflection on me or the church. I'm betting on 50/50.

I am The Critic because like all critics, I prefer to poke holes in the work of others rather than actually doing anything myself. Plus I really liked that short-lived Fox cartoon series with Jon Lovitz's voice. ".....IT STINKS!!!"
