QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) Yessir, ya can't go wrong with Greg Dulli lyrics. That dude had one thing on the brain most of the time. yep, and the music fit the lyrics perfectly. The Whigs were an underappreciated band for sure. Saw them twice at Metro and they were great both times.

I'll go with a different Afghan Whigs song, "Somethin' Hot": I got your phone number, baby I'll call you sometime I think I might, be out tonight Maybe give you a ride Cocktails for two, down lover's lane I wantcha so bad, after tonight I'll never walk the same And you're to blame I wanna getcha high I wanna get next to you I wanna feel everything aboutcha, girl I wanna feel good You make me feel good Baby, you don't know Just how I lie awake And dream awhile, about your smile And the way you make yo ass shake If that ain't love I guess I'll never know A sweeter lie, you'd be surprised Just how far I'd go To make it so

I have no problem with regifting. The way I see it, if you haven't used the gift, and don't want it, and the person receiving it has a better chance of wanting and using it than you did, everyone wins. But I don't need your WS DVD, Steff - both DVDs ( WS and Sox Pride ) were front and center on my wish list, and if NO ONE got them for me.........well, ain't nobody having a Merry Christmas in MY house........

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) The funniest thing out of all of this is that Johnny Boy has to cut his long flowing hair and beard as per The Boss' rules. Goodbye Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, Welcome Back Brandon Cruz!

QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 07:16 AM) It really isn't that hard, and I recommend anyone who uses computers regularly to build at least one. I'm a big fan of Newegg for components. My son and I build his last year, and he now knows more about hardware than almost any of his classmates. I appreciate your encouragement, but I know my limitations. I have a computer DESK at home still sitting in the box cuz I'm dreading the day when I have to gather the nerve to attempt to put it together!!! Buildin' s*** AIN'T my strong suit.

QUOTE(Czarina @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) Odd - that's why I built a multimedia computer 2 years ago... Trust me, if I even TRIED to build anything myself, one of three things would explode: My head The thing I'm trying to build or My house I am all thumbs, and even my thumbs are all thumbs! Plug and play is the only way!!

I have a late addition to my Christmas wish list. This looks like just what I need: http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/P...+Creator+90.htm I have a ton of videotapes that I need to convert to DVD. The hints have been sent out, now I'm crossing my fingers.....

I see that I'm in the minority here, but I don't really have any interest in having DVDs of every playoff game in their entirety. The WS and Sox Pride DVDs pretty much cover it for me. I just don't see myself watching every game on DVD often enough to want to buy this set. Not knocking anyone who DOES want them, just saying it's not for me.

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) Nobody liked this? Or did anybody even watch it? I can pretty much guarantee you have never seen a band like this before. I wasn't going to reply, but since you asked.... I didn't like them. The "garbage as drums" thing was fairly interesting, although Metallica seemed to use trash cans as drums on their last CD. They seem to be capable musicians, but they didn't leave me wanting more. The idea of covering crap songs to be ironic/funny/"bad on purpose" has grown tiresome to me as well.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) I went today in mundelein, absolutely froze my ass off for 45 minutes but it was well worth it. I'll post pictures whenever my dad emails them to me. I know all of you are curious to see what I look like. I can only hope the picture you post is as small and unobtrusive as SS2K5's.

I apologize in advance if this sounds insensitive. Your story reinforces two of my basic theories. One: Never rely on an online auction to buy your Christmas gifts. Do it early and get it out of the way. and Two: People are selfish pricks. I hope you're able to find something nice for your brother, hopefully that DVD set is out there someplace.

SI book came today, anyone get no.1?
The Critic replied to wherehaveyougoneharold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I had several number 1's and a number 2 today. But no book from Sports Illustrated. -
It's not true. The Heckler is a generally unfunny Cubbie "parody" newspaper/website. Specializes in generalizing Sox fans as trailer trash, although they have recently been unable to avoid the ineptitude of their own beloved Blue Losers.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Thanks for the review. Honestly, since I already have the MLB one, the main reason I wanted the Pride DVD was for the player intros and the music that came with it (which I loved watching at every game). It sort of annoys me that they apparently cheaped out and went with other music that (I am guessing) wasn't as costly to license. Seems petty to me - I'd have paid an extra $1 for the DVD to be the real thing. Since that was my main motivation, I may not bother buying it at all. But then again, the interviews with players and coaches do sound pretty cool. They may not have cheaped out. Isn't Pirates a Disney property? Disney is kind of territorial about their releases and may have had a problem with licensing the music for a DVD release of anything. I don't know if that is what happened, I'm just throwing out a possibility that maybe the Sox tried to license the music and were rebuffed.

QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) i was just checking and maybe i added too many premier games, but i couldnt get one ticket in the lower bowl The tickets are going fast. The other day I played around on the Ozzie Plan site and there were lower bowl tix available for all the games I chose except the Cubs and Opening Day. Two days later I did it again and only 4 games had lower bowl available. This is good news for the Sox but bad news for single game buyers, I'm afraid. Makes me glad I decided to go in on that 8-game share of season seats.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but the out-of-town scores thing doesn't bother me when I'm at the game. I find myself glancing at the board once in a while, but mostly I just follow the game I'm watching when I'm there. At home I want to know what's going on in other games, but not so much when I'm at the park. But I do agree that if they're offering out-of-town scores on a scoreboard, they should do their best to keep the scores current.

I have had a completely s***ty week at work. 3 o'clock can't come fast enough.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 09:03 AM) WHAT? Are you kidding me? "IM RICK JAMES b****" never gets old! I was at Spencer Gifts, trying to think of something to buy my nephew ( kids these days - who knows WHAT they like!!! ) and I saw a baseball cap with that saying on it. Now I don't claim to have my finger on the pulse of what's going on out there these days, but I have to ask you - who's buying that hat? Is ANYONE buying that hat??? Oh, and I didn't get my nephew anything yet. He's a Cub fan, and all their stuff looks like s***. They had a memorabilia show going on in the mall, and I had to restrain myself from buying a ton of cool Sox s***, like old programs and yearbooks from the 70s and 80s. And another thing - Christmas shopping sucks ass. And finally.........people suck.

I love watching people brag about fruit.

2-1 Preds. Barinka gets knocked silly and the refs let the play continue. Questionable.
