QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 26, 2005 -> 07:22 AM) I love it when an obscure reference, to a show that first aired 30 years ago, is caught in 5 minutes Yeah, I'm just old enough to remember the first airing of that show.....
  2. Since all I got Sox-wise was the Sox Pride DVD and World Series DVD, I'll list my stuff here: 2005 World Series DVD Sox Pride DVD Rocky II DVD Mr. Show Season 3 DVD Mr. Show Season 4 DVD Metallica: Some Kind Of Hilarious DVD ( I know it's called Some Kind Of Monster, but I think it was one of the funniest movies of 2004, and the DVD comes with 10 extra hours of crying, whining and psychobabble from the Previously Baddest Band On The Planet ) Anthrax - Anthrology: No Hit Wonders 2-CD set 2 spindles of blank CD-Rs cologne Best Buy gift card cash socks not a bad pull at all...

QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 26, 2005 -> 06:43 AM) How many times had you refilled that 2 oz glass of wine? "They had these liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny cups of beer...." "How many of these "little tiny cups of beer" did you have?" "...................seventy-five................"
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 25, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) Along with the Spring Training gift( Going the 1st two games of the Spring Season) I got 3 Sox tailgating chairs, along with a table that goes along with it. Also got Sox beer mugs, along with an AJ ornament. Awesome Sox X-mas. You can shorten that to SOXmas. My wife works today so we won't open our gifts until after dinner. We let the daughter open her Santa gifts early but she'll open the rest of hers tonight too. I see a couple of DVD-shaped packages....
  5. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) roselle illinois Impulse Records!
  6. See, when a team has players who can score goals, a lead isn't safe until the clock reads 00:00. If the Hawks were down 2 in the final minute, you can stick that L on the standings board. They just don't have anyone who can go get that crucial goal.
  7. QUOTE(Quality Revenge At Last @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) although its a long ways away...i would be interested in two or three opening day tix...i know i know hard to come by etc...but im hopoing maybe someone can't go... sssssssssssssssssSSSSSSSSSSSSWAPMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!
  8. We try to sift through our stuff every month for a donation to Salvation Army, Amvets or both. I donated my old car to Kars 4 Kids. Gave through my work ( they had a matching gift plan in place ) for Hurricane and Tsunami relief funds. It's nice to help in some way - we don't make a ton of money, but we do what we can.
  9. Whatever you celebrate......Happy That. And to those of you who don't celebrate anything, a Merry Joyous Festive Nothing At All to YOU!!
  10. I'm home. We did the Wisconsin trip for Thanksgiving, so the Mom-In-Law is here for the weekend.

    Scrooge?

I can guarantee that if I wasn't married and a Dad there's about a 0% chance I'd have a tree up. My wife takes care of the overwhelming majority of Christmas-related chores. I basically lug the heavy stuff around and do the shopping for her gifts and I buy a few things from me to the kid. The Mrs. does the rest. I'm not a holiday festive rah-rah guy at all.
  12. My family gets together at my sister's house on Saturday night, and my in-laws come to my house on Sunday night. Hoping for a smooth, hassle-free holiday weekend this time. I got a good feeling about this one....
  13. QUOTE(rangercal @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) LOL, So this adds to the Ponson signing and the news on the cardinal homepage that Gregg Jeffries is on the HOF ballot. When thats your headlines you know you are having a bad off-season. HAHA, I had forgotten that Gregg Jeffries ever played!!! Best of luck to him on his Hall balloting!!!
  14. Repeating is an incredibly tough thing to do in any sport ( except maybe basketball, where it seems to happen a lot ) and Kenny is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Things have to go your way in the playoffs ( and they certainly did for the Sox ), and nobody can predict intangibles. Here's how I see the criticisms breaking down: If the Sox don't repeat now, they made too many changes. If he stood pat and they didn't repeat, then he didn't keep up with other teams' improvements. I'm just looking at each move as it comes, and I don't see one yet that I think weakened the team. The only general worry I have is that the bullpen as a whole needs a little more fortification, and maybe that's why Redding was brought in, who knows? I like the moves that have been made so far and I think the Sox are, on paper, stronger than the 2005 team overall. Whether that translates to the field, no one can tell. People will pick a side and brag about "being right" if things happen to fall the way they "predicted".
  15. QUOTE(vegasking @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 07:05 AM) So will I be able to get tickets or not, do they sell out immediately for the July 4th game? They're going to sell out pretty quickly this year, just because interest is high and supply is low due to a doubling season-ticket base. If you want to be sure about being able to go, and J-Man is serious about selling his tickets to you, shoot him an email. This year, it's best to use any connections you have - the Sox are gonna draw 3 million, baybeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) You build around Bell, Seabrook, Keith, and Ruutu. s***, if you could get a nice package for Ruutu, you do it. I dont trust his back at all anymore. To me, Ruutu's back problem is more worrisome than even Daisy's. For Ruutu, the physical game is a key, and if the back is creaky he can't play a physical game. If any team would offer a decent package for Ruutu, the Hawks would be foolish to pass it up. But nobody's going to deal anyone of value for a kid as young as him with the medical history he's already compiled.
  17. QUOTE(easyw @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) anything by The Pursuit of Happiness... Or Kool Keith... Good call on TPOH too! Another band I liked a lot!
  18. Since the thread about the strike was titled "NYC=f***ED", shouldn't this thread about the strike ending be titled "NYC=CUDDLING" or "NYC=AWKWARDLY GETTING DRESSED TO LEAVE" or "NYC=PROMISING TO CALL" or "NYC=PAYING THE LADY"?
  19. QUOTE(J-MAN @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) If you can't get ticket e-mail me - I would be happy to sell you our tickets for that game! Jerry Slowik [email protected] Well, NOW he's not even going to TRY to get tickets online.....NICE ONE.....
  20. I hope they win, and there's no weird controversy....
  21. QUOTE(Konerko4mvp @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) it sucks man..i wont be able to get any good game tix and i want to go so badly to one of those games...i dont want to watch kansas city play Then you might be in front of a TV, because every series you named will sell out in a heartbeat. Hell, I split season seats and I'm probably going to end up with tickets to see Texas, KC, Baltimore, Seattle or teams like that. s*** works out that way sometimes. The price of winning and all that. Personally, I don't really care who the Sox are playing, I go there to watch the White Sox. And I'll recommend the Swapmeet once again - you never know, sometimes people's plans get washed out by work, family circumstances or some other reason and they may need to sell tickets to a high-demand series.
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Hey Henry! Didn't know you posted on this board. Get tired of the nazi's across the way? He just wants to see the "West Side Story"-esque RUMBLE between the Soxtalkers and the WSIers. Sorry, H18, won't be able to attend - got family stuff all weekend.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) We will not rest until every year families gather to spend December 25th together at Osama's homo-abortion-pot-and-commie-jizzporium!!(Credit - The Daily Show) I laughed like an idiot at that line. I didn't see that coming!
  24. QUOTE(Konerko4mvp @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) hell no i am not an upper guy,,......i want single game tickets...i am not looking to buy 13 games because i dont havetoo much free time...so i am looking to buy tickets as i have free time.... Keep your eye on the Swapmeet. It'll be your best bet to find tickets from Soxtalk season-ticket holders. There's already at least one thread devoted to selling Club Level seats. Take a look and see if any of those games interest you.

    Ornaments

QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) We have a ton that say NOEL and a lot of candles that say NOEL and 4 stocking holders that say NOEL. My wife gets a kick out of it. It's our last name. Egomaniacs.... To tell you the truth, I don't even really know what ornaments are on our tree. I am not a "Christmassy" kind of person. I enjoy watching my daughter freak out over the gifts she gets, and of course I like getting stuff myself, but I don't get all wrapped up in the season. Carols, TV shows, etc etc......keep it. I think there's a Homer Simpson as Santa ornament on there - I kind of remember my sister-in-law giving that to me a few years ago.
