And if I could learn to type more than one line of text, maybe I'd cause the thread to reach the 200th page! LOL

Threads with 200 pages are the most awesomest threads of all.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) Why all the heat on Curt Schilling? Am I missing something. This isn't the first I have heard about people hating him. I think it's because people believe he's a self-promoter and a blowhard. Like he'd call a press conference to announce what he's having for lunch.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) If Borchard actually panned out he prob would be a good candidate because from everything I heard he is a great guy and spends a lot of times with the fans.... Ill always chant LTP when he comes up to bat I chant JOE-FOR-4. Only a very light shade of green on that one....

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) Wasn't he with the Cards before he was with us though? Yep. Cards, A's, Sox, Cubs, if I recall.

This thread is fantastic and awful at the same time. There are like 7 arguments going on, none of which make any sense. And one Herman's Hermits reference, from out of nowhere. And before you even start, I don't want to bet anyone about anything!!!

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 08:59 AM) See if you people can comprehend what I am sayin...IN MY OPINION Buehrle is better than the above mentioned pitchers, and IN MY OPINION if a WS was on the line, and I could have any of those guys to pitch for me in Game 7, I would choose Buehrle. Oh, so NOW you're trying to pass this off as FACT????

A little background on Kinky Friedman, courtesy of telemark.net, under the category "atheist music": Here's a little info about Kinky Friedman (sp?). He's a Jew from Texas, which is in itself a little humorous. He is a "redneck" type with Stars of David on his leather jacket. They're a bizarre Texas lounge band whose biggest hit is "They Aint Makin' Jews Like Jesus Anymore" about a redneck who yells anti-semitic slurs at a Jew. The Jew, instead of "turning the other cheek", beats the holy crap out of the redneck. A good friend of mine has their greatest hits album "Old Testaments and New Revelations". Also on the album is a song called "L.A. Men's Room." About a guy who goes into a stall at a bus station in L.A. do #2. He sees, to his chagrin, that there's no paper, but he sees a tract/picture of Jesus on the ground. He prays to Jesus, "Should I Save My Soul or Save My Pants". It's hilarious. Friedman is now an accomplished mystery writer. I did happen to catch in on Willie Nelson's TNN show (quite ironic, as I despise country music , where he and Willie performed Friedman's classic "feminist" anthem, "Get Your Biscuits in the Oven and Your Buns in the Bed".

QUOTE(rventura23 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 01:48 AM) remember Pods throw home in Game 2 of the world series? I remember it all too well. Thinking "he's GOT HIM" when Pods got the ball and the runner was just touching third, then watching the ball sputter up the first base side of the plate. BUT, Pods would not have gotten the chance to hit that walkoff and send his bat to the Hall Of Fame. Can't send your ARM to Cooperstown, now, can ya???

Thome, Pods, Dye, Crede, Hermanson, & Anderson
The Critic replied to SSH2005's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree that they need to be most cautious with Podsednik. Very nice to read all the positive reports on these guys, though. I am SO ready for Spring Training to get going!!! DEFEND OR DIE TRYING!!!! -
QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) Look at the team around them. Its not like these guys start every game, pitch every relief inning, or hit every AB and score every run.. And Timo Perez has a ring, is he better than Barry Bonds? Unless Timo starts roiding, we'll never really know.....

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) Look, I said in the second line, it will never completely go away. But, c'mon, you can't tell me that not being able to touch another person in your life...including yourself...isn't going to drive the occasional person to do something bad? Anyway you slice it, sickos are sickos, but going after the church ain't gonna do anything. They have money and representation out the butt to protect them. the only thing that'll REALLY cut it down is to keep preaching (literally) for anyone to speak up when they are molested. But, allowing priests to marry and allowing women would definitely bring this problem down. You certainly don't hear this happening as much within other religions...or do you? I haven't. The most direct connection I could see in the "let 'em get married and they won't touch kids" idea is this: If priests were allowed to marry, perhaps whatever percentage of men who would want to become priests, but do not because they also would like to marry someday, may actually become priests, thereby lowering the percentage of child molesting priests in the process. I don't know if the number of child molesting priests merely reflects the percentage of child molesters in general or if, for some bizarre reason, the priesthood appeals to child molesters. I feel that some of them use the trust factor to their advantage - a "why would a priest do that????" sort of thing. I think that has to have faded with the number of cases brought to light, though. You have to be at an advanced stage of evil to use what some people see as a "higher calling" as a means to carry out the emotional and often physical scarring of children. There is no penalty too harsh or severe to punish anyone who does that sort of thing.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 04:41 AM) I wonder if he'll try to walk naked in prison as well. If he does walk naked in prison, it probably won't be by choice.

Well, that's what happens when you're dumb enough to think you can avoid declaring your winnings from the most popular TV show at that time. The Tribe Has Spoken, and what they said is.............Pay Your Taxes, Dumbass!

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) He had a picture in the paper once that made him look like a "short person". Ya know..I guess a "dwarf" is the proper word. I thought he was a bassist. No? No, he's a skin-slapper.....and a drummer..... That picture of him in the Times does make him look like a "little person", but I think he's average height, maybe a touch shorter.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) Jim D. comes off as arrogant quite often. I like the guy kind of (is he a "short person, BTW?), but he pisses me off at other times and uses "slams" to cover up his lack of knowledge at times, instead of just admitting he is unfamiliar with a band or style. I wrote to him once and mentioned my (at the time) fave band Marillion. He slammed them by saying that they hadn't done anything worthwhile since their original vocalist had left. When in reality the band had just recently put out their most "critically" and fan praised album in their careers and had just finished a very successful US tour. He can be rude with no reason at times. The Stones though I am passing on. They are so far removed from what I believe RnR to being anymore. They may have once been the greatest (I will argue the case to a degree) RnR band ever, but they are no longer what it is about. They are a machine now and an act. I could never pay that much money for that. But for the fans who can afford it, I expect that the Stones deliver EXACTLY what the fans are hoping for. I can't imagine them actually being a disappointment to their fans. He's not particularly short, I don't believe, but he IS particularly wide and thick. I saw him once at the Riviera for a Dinosaur Jr. show and he was gasping for air just waddling up the side aisle. He's a drummer for a local band ( whose name escapes me ) so even when he's not sitting at a computer he's sitting behind a drum kit. I find him amusing, especially his man-crush for the Flaming Lips, but I rarely find him informative.
