  1. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 07:18 AM) why don't you try a hug first and than see where it goes from there. Or maybe a friendly high-five. And then maybe talk to her. Get her a drink. See where it leads.
  2. QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 07:15 AM) blah blah blah. garner's a bum. i remember him whining and b****ing for the cameras when oswalt flat out beaned crede too. nobody likes a sore loser, garner! okay.
  3. The guys are going to get pissed when someone gets plunked in the ribs like that. That looked nasty! I just hope that Joe is okay for tonight - sometimes that kind of thing hurts a lot more after you have a chance to sleep on it and have it tighten up and/or swell up.
  4. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 04:40 AM) Did anyone see this horrible manager toss a cheer in the dugout, shake his head, put his hands on his knees in disgust, and just all-around show up his players? What a pathetic display. Garner bashed his offense after the game as well. He said that even if the game had lasted 40 more innings his offense probably wouldn't have scored a run. It must suck for Biggio and Bagwell that they have to play for this clown in the twilights of their careers. Hawk must be smiling right now about Garner's meltdown. B) Well, to be fair, Ozzie was throwing his gum down and kicking some stuff around when the Sox were walking everyone in sight in the extra innings. Also, everyone's local demigod Mike Ditka did much, MUCH worse to his players on the sidelines, where it was more visible ( RIGHT, Emery Moorehead? ) I'm gonna cut the guy a break - tension is high and it's hard to keep composure sometimes. Human beings and whatnot....
  5. I have to share this, it's too funny. The family went to my buddy's house to watch the game, but we had to leave in the 9th because my daughter has school today. So we put her to bed and watch the game - my wife goes to sleep after the top of the 13th. She tried to hang, but she just couldn't take it. So Blummer homers and I wake her up to tell her what happened. ( I have to admit/remind you here that she is a Cub fan at heart, but she's really happy for me and has gotten excited about the Sox playoff success ) She says to me, and I quote: "Who the hell is Geoff Blum???" I answered "He's my new hero!!!"
  6. After the dominant ALCS, I said this to the main Cubbie troll at work: "How's THAT for starters?" ....it didn't get a laugh....except from me, of course.
  7. Sorry, doesn't ring a bell. Care to out the troll?
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) Who knows where we would be right now with a 120 win season. The Indians would have never mattered. The Sox would have slept walk into the postseason without any kind of challenge or wake-up calls. Sure, you can call me an optimist for trying to put a positive spin on the "collapse," but I think it was good for this club. I have to agree. That was the only thing I was hanging my hat on during that God-awful stretch in September. That maybe, hopefully, having to play games that meant something in late September would get this team ready for battle. The irony is, IMO, it wasn't the struggle that got them rolling, it was the release, the "breathing out", after they clinched that got them going again. They were able to relax, be themselves, take their eyes off the rear view mirror and just play.
  9. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) I'll miss her Was she HAWT???? Honestly....."the Sox killed my Gramma".....gimme a break....
  10. Hate to admit it, but "Stone In Love" is a very good song. The rest of their entire catalog, however, is a giant steaming pile. My sister loved them back in the early 80's, but her musical tastes were for s*** as well. Culture Club, "Thriller", Bon Jovi....... :headshake :sleep :puke
  11. Unbelievable. What a f***ing piece of s*** that jackoff is. The Astros should be credited for handling the situation with class. I wish they'd have found the spineless f***head and made him accountable for his actions. From the story I read in the Sun-Times this morning, it sounded like they nabbed the wrong guy for questioning.
  12. Farmer and McDowell is my hunch for next year's radio booth. I could live with that. Just please dear Lord, no Dave Wills or Mike North.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) I mentioned those ideas days ago, but I am not going to search for the thread. I knew I stole it from someone..... It'll be a nice reminder of this season, until it's like 30 years old and there hasn't been another World Series in town.....
  14. QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) Oh I'm still going because I want to be with a giant group of diehard sox fans to see these games. I was just saying that 15 bucks is alittle much for not too much effort on the White Sox/United Center's behalf. The money is going to charity, so they probably want to raise as much as they can for only 1 or 2 dates.
  15. QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) whats the double play package? i was thinking about a 14 gamer to split with my brothers next summer The Ozzie plan is a 13-gamer, and is available in November.
  16. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) I dunno man, I mean I would think age plays a part, no? How can u say someone is "hanging around too long" when he is only 41 years old? O_o How old was Jordan when he retired? The FINAL time, I mean... I guess it wouldn't be about age for a manager. The talk would be that "Ozzie's act got old" or "he lost his team" or "the Sox need a stable, low-key manager" or some other such bulls***.
  17. QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) i agree, plus the upper deck is too steep I was gonna mention that, but I got vertigo and lack of oxygen just thinking about that upper deck.
  18. I have my plan for a personalized jersey, but it's gonna take 2 more wins. WS CHAMPS 05 I'll settle for AL CHAMPS 05 if the unthinkable happens.
  19. Gotta be less than 8,000. No one likes the Sox or their "ballmall". And the neighborhood is dangerous, full of scary people.
  20. Dropping Iguchi from 2 to 8 would do more harm than good, I think. The most I'd consider is elevating Rowand or AJ to the 2 hole and dropping Iguchi to 6 or 7, but I'm in favor of leaving well enough alone. It's all working right now, no need to tinker.
  21. Where's Mariotti now? Flying in tight concentric circles, tighter and tighter in radius, heading ever closer to flying up his own ass, of course.
  22. Anything is possible when it comes to Oz. Maybe he's seen how no one is exempt from ultra-harsh treatment, both from media and fans, and he'd rather bail after he does something that no one's done in 88 years. It would cement his legendary status. Win the whole f***ing thing and just walk - pretty beautiful, when you think about it. "Nothing left to do HERE.....g'bye....." After all, media dolts always suggest that someone should "go out on top", and even bashed Michael Jordan without mercy for "hanging around too long". Forget the fact that he was the driving force behind the greatest dynasty this city will likely ever see. Didn't protect him from derision and mockery. I know I'D seriously consider walking away if my finances and outside ambitions were in line with it.
  23. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) But Dahl has always been a vocal Sox fan. He probably doesn't go to too many games though, due to what time his show is on the air. But I also wouldn't be surprised if he has season tix. He has never switched, and he is not shy about his disliking of the Cubs and their station. He did ditch the Sox for a few years, AND has spoken very respectfully about some WGN personalities including his ex-nemesis Wally Phillips, but who really cares? His show is boring as hell and has been for a really long time. And expect an announcement from the Loop very soon about Brandmeier. He could be back on the air by early November.
  24. This bums me out, The Crusher was a childhood favorite of mine. Reggie "Da Crusher" Lisowski, one of the most colorful performers in the history of the wrestling business passed away last night at the age of 79. Crusher was a top box office attraction in 60s and 70s in the AWA and is best known for his famous tag team with Dick the Bruiser. According to a report by Mike Aldren, Crusher had been ill for past several months battling stomach cancer and a brain tumor.
