I hate the way she helped invent Garbage Talk Television and now distances herself from it ( AFTER she drained every available penny from it ) like she's some kind of Mother/Nurturer/Almighty Sister. She and Phil Donahue swam in the same muck that JerrySpringer, Maury Povich and Rikki Lake swim in, but they carry themselves like they never heard of it.

Poll: Should Brian Sutter's Reign End?
The Critic replied to C.Rector's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Yeah, like FO14 said, the home team wears their dark colors and the road team wears their lighter jerseys. I have seen people cheer for the wrong team for a second at the Wolves game ( I haven't been to a SlackHawks game this year ) because they're used to cheering for the light jerseys. The AHL is following suit ( and probablt following orders ) and having the home team wear dark colors too. It's a stupid idea. -
Oh, and what's with Maury and the 99.9% s*** lately? He think he's MJ or something??? I've never met Killa - I've only been in the room for a couple of his furious postgame call-ins on the LATE, LAMENTED SnR. But I agree with your description of him as a lousy piece of &^#%$^$&%!

and I'm 99.7% not surprised.... He's a POOOSAHHHHH!!!! And off topic a bit - Mr. Ian Showtime is Jerry Manuel at WSI????? Wow.....I'd never have figured that out. Weird.

"Doesn't want to drive"???? what. a. little. beeeeeyotch. Doesn't want to drive HOME, more like it.... Friends don't let friends.....you know the rest.....

Hey Steff, any luck getting Maury to break open a piggy and go to SoxFest? He's been kind of incommunicado lately, preparing for the burial of Sox And Roll and all, but the last I heard, he was too disgusted with the lack of player acquisition to attend this year's festivities. I told him I thought the possibility of getting Aaron Rowand's autograph would be enough lure to draw him out... Update?

I thought I saw him hiding behind Bill Worst's car with a shovel.... Maybe he just wanted to shovel the walkway at the UC, who knows???

VERY nice, Steff!! The funniest part to me was imagining KW telling JR that he has to "poo poo".

Yeah, funny how showing the home games on TV hurts THEIR attendance, huh? The Red Wings organization wants to win, and they have my respect for that. They also have a cool home jersey, but they don't use it as a prop to try to lowball their players' contracts. There's been nothing worth talking about with the SlackHawks in a LONG LONG time. I'm glad they're not showing that suckass team's home games on TV right now - the only difference is that they'd be losing with their road uniforms on instead. ( The road jerseys at home idea is VERY stupid, in my opinion ) The Slacks are dying and nobody cares. -
I've even, on a rare case or two, and I certainly did it last year, gone to a few players for their input prior to an acquisition. Imagine, if you will, this scene from the White Sox locker room last summer: KW: "Okay, guys, you're probably wondering why I called this meeting today. Well, I've got great news! I've been given the green light by Mr. Reinsdorf to get ANY player from the Texas Rangers - who should I get?" Players In Unison: "CARL EVERETT!!!!!" KW: "Hmmm.....I thought you might want me to get Alex Rodriguez....." Players: "Naaahhhhhhh......where would Jose play?" JosE6: "Awwwwww.....THANKS, guys!" KW: "OKAY, then, Everett IT IS!" Players: "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!"

Who cares? The SlackHawks are a non-issue in the already pathetic Chicago sports scene. What good are polls when the ownership gives not one s*** what the "average fan" thinks anyway? They're not going to fire or acquire anyone with the lockout on the horizon. Smithov would still be there if he hadn't ( allegedly ) lobbied the media to stump for Sutter's dismissal. My brother-in-law got me tickets to the March 19th game vs. Vancouver and I will wear my Canucks road jersey with pride. -
I heard Ozzie on AM1000 the other day, and I hope he got an interpreter allowance! He sounded like a squirrel on helium.

Wow, the Cubs or Yankees must be there on Saturday - that's the only time the Sox sell out, right???

Which is your favorite White Sox team of All Time?
The Critic replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The 1972 team. Dick Allen Bill Melton Carlos May Wilbur Wood Jorge Orta Bucky Dent Rich Gossage Terry Forster Bart Johnson Jay Johnstone Pat Kelly I was 9 years old, and this team was very exciting. I met Pat Kelly the next year at my Little League City Series banquet - that was cool. -
The sick part is that even though he essentially voided his contract by playing basketball off-season, they'd still have to pay him like 900,000 bucks to get rid of him. Read that in the Sun-Times, don't have the article in front of me though. THAT is f***ing ridiculous - YOU f*** up your own deal by violating a clause of the contract and you still get 900 large? No Way.

Why is it that all the alleged Hired Truck bribery suspects are Cub fans??? Front page shows Mr. Torres leaving his bond hearing at the Metropolitan Correctional Center sporting a NICE Cubbie "Walking Bear" cap. Gotta show your allegiance to the CUBBIEEEEEEEEES when you go to court for a bond hearing.....HA.....

If I had been posting here then, I would have been the One Fan who said that was a bad deal the second it happened. I liked Sirotka A LOT, and I have always HATED David Wells. A fat, bloated, selfish, slovenly, loudmouth "me-boy". Awful awful awful. I was actually happy that trade blew up just to show them that you don't tradeaway a good guy who pitched well for the Sox and get a fat self-promoting asshole in return.

This would explain why "born-again's" are so annoyingly nicey-nicey. Trying REEEEEEEEAL hard to get it right. I actually have a similar theory to this, except my twist on it is that reincarnation is not so much another opportunity as it is expulsion from heaven and being sent back to this dump for another shelf life. "Couldn't behave, huh? Well, then , get back down there!!!!"

"Little Big Man" has another back problem, or is it an ankle this time? I believe it's his chronically F'd up back. He wouldn't have helped anyway.
-
I was never crazy about Kornheiser, but he's light years better than the Heart Attack Twins, Mariotti and Rome. I guess if you want to compete against Boers and North, you have to get as stupid as them. I listen to Mike and Mike on my way to work, I try to catch Silvie and Carmen when I can, and of course I listen to White Sox broadcasts, but that's about it. Sports talk radio is really a wasteland.

Congratulations to the SlackHawks on becoming the worst road Slack team of ALL TIME!!! If you're going to be bad, be historically bad, right?? And the thing about a SlackHawk youth movement is, as soon as it's time to pay the young guys, you will see those young guys in Red Wings gear, or Flyers gear, or Rangers gear, since they will be dealt to anyone who will give the Slacks disorgan-I-zation draft picks and 4th line checking forwards.

Keep on us about it once the weather gets better, OK? I'm definitely interested, and I KNOW once I get a buzz on, I'm hitting Park Ribs before I go home! to the PARK!
-
OH YES, Parisi's made me what I am today - GROSSLY OVERWEIGHT!!! You really can't go wrong wth anything from Parisi's - that place kicks ass! My nephews all played Little League at Hale Park, right across the street, so that was WAY too convenient!!!
-
I lived at 65th and Narragansett - we moved when we went from renting to owning. so Bobby G's is not far from Park Ribs! mmmmmmmmmmmm........Park Ribs................... Oh, and I'd be up for a gathering at BobbyG's sometime, for sure!

and of course Al Sharpton uses it to pop off a stupid one-liner. My repsonse to Al if I were Dean? "If you got 18% under ANY circumstances, you'd do cartwheels to the next campaign stop!"
