Check this goofy story out: http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/ptech/01/13/o...reut/index.html They shouldn't be too hard on this guy - after all, his crime was just small potatoes!!! I'm no Evil Criminal Genius, but I think maybe I don't go back to the SAME STORE the second time....

School is mandatory, church is optional. Medicine is necessary, church is optional. Sure, you can home-school and try to treat your own injuries/illnesses, but it's much easier to achieve your chosen level of religious practice without organized churches then it is to home-school or self-doctor. I don't know exactly what changed, but I used to get a really good feeling from attending mass, and I don't get that feeling anymore.

Oh SURE Aboz, feed the media!!!! "Another lunatic Sox fan goes insane..."
-
This is very true, but it does get frustrating to see how few top picks ever pan out for the Sox, especially pitching-wise.
-
I don't like fan conventions of any kind, so I will pass. When it comes to my hobbies, I enjoy the hobby ( whether it's movies, sports, concerts, etc. ) but I don't really want to get autographs or anything like that. I guess that's why I'm not too interested in Halls Of Fame - it's just another museum to me, and not even a particularly interesting one. I went to see Baseball As America ( for free ) last summer, and found it kinda dull.

I'd be VERY happy with 15 wins out of any fourth starter. Of course, only if 1 through 3 get MORE than 15 wins each...

Drove past USCF on Sunday - the roof doesn't look like much of anything yet. Just a few supports up on the LF side. Hard to say if the hitters' eye helped or not - didn't seem to help early in the season, but maybe the Sox hitters' eyes adjusted to it later.

If Maggs is traded he can still show up as a "past Sox favorite".

Cubs wring money out of the rooftops
The Critic replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I have no problem with the Cubs making some money off of the rooftop people. They're not inviting friends up on the roof to watch a game, they're building bleachers and charging 60 bucks and upwards ( FAR upwards ) per person to watch the Cubs' "product". -
Another difference is that policemen, teachers, etc., do not hold themselves up as messengers of God. If they are to be held to a higher level of divinity, they are to be held to a higher level of accountability. The Catholic Church did not just try to minimize publicity, they moved the offending priests into new clurgies in different cities or states to try and hide the damage they'd done. It's unforgivable, hypocritical and shameful. and for the record if I knew of a pedophile doctor, dentist, actor, etc. I would do my level best to avoid patronizing that person.

Throw a bag of cash and/or an altar boy in a dark corner and they'll let you do whatever you want. The Catholic Church saying ANYTHING is "wrong".....is wrong. I believe in God, but I don't necessarily believe in the Church anymore.

Jagr used an illegal stick today...
The Critic replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
and it's probably got an illegal curve, but no one wants to measure it! -
Everything I've been reading leans toward the Cardinals backing off. They signed the mighty Julian Tavarez, so they can't afford Maddux. I'm sure other teams are waiting for Maddux's price to go down, but if Hendry can get the Trib to open the purse a little further, Maddux will end up back in blue pinstripes, IMO.
-
It's going to be Harris from the outset of Spring Training, but they'll probably have to go with Dorn if Harris can't get on base. This almost makes me miss Kenny Lofton........ALMOST........
-
It will only be better than the Cubs' rotation until the Cubs sign Greg Maddux. Unlike the Sox, who are hoping to back into a division title in the worst division in baseball, the Cubs are actually going out and signing quality players in an effort to WIN something. I really hate to say this stuff, but to ignore the truth is futile. They may win something, they may not, but at least they're trying....

Was there CORK in it?? When asked to comment, ShamME Sofa was quoted as saying, "Ay hope Jogger no yooz cork een heez steek - dot eez MYE geemeeck!!" -
I liked XRT back in the day when you'd hear stuff like the Clash, Ramones, Replacements, Husker Du, etc., but now I find it too Dave Matthews/Phish/Blues Traveler for my tastes. The old 95.5 WMET was my favorite old station, and WLS in the mid to late 70s.

Thrashers scored 6 minutes in to end the streak. Congrats to Boucher for an unbelievable run!!!!

How strong could Poison have been if a 145-pound guy with scoliosis and a stomach ailment could kill it???
-
This is the wisest thing I've ever seen you post!

Exactly my opinion too. I watched the first 40 minutes or so, and I thought it was dreadful. That show is really not worth watching anymore. There are a few talented people in that cast, but the writing is very weak. Maybe they should cut the show down to an hour - then they wouldn't feel the need to drag skits beyond its dying point.

Seems that Vlad wants to go to Florida on a one-year deal... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1704992 Don't know if this is just posturing to force the O's or Mets' hands, but the report says he has told friends that Florida is his preference. Interesting...

OH man I hate that song. That guy Pharrel has THE most annoying voice. Like he gets kicked in the sack before they start recording. ...the video is okay, though....

Very good point, but again, it all comes down to perception. When you think of Paul Molitor, you don't ( or at least I don't ) think of him as a DH - I think of him as a 2B/3B. When you think of Frank, DH comes straight to mind. I still think that by the time he's done, his numbers will be too impressive to ignore, but if anything was to hold him out of the HOF ( besides stupid writers' personal vendettas, which happen too often in HOF voting, IMO ), it would be the DH bias and Frank's attitude, real or perceived.

WSI has just as many reliable people and just as many s***-talkers as Soxtalk does. It's a decent board, but I prefer the layout and people here, AND the fact that swear words don't get edited , so I post here much more. And for the record, I don't believe ANY rumor - I can discuss it and have fun with it, but I wait to see what actually happens before I react seriously.
