I cannot disagree with anything in this post. Nicely played, WU83.

Lemieux out for rest of season (career?)

I heard that he said he's definitely going to play again. I think he should try again if he wants to - I am NOT one of these "retire before you fade" people - my opinion is, once you're done you're done, so make sure you're done. -
It's true that the Royals have improved their club. Their pitching is still suspect, in my opinion. They're flawed, as are all the teams in the Comedy Central. The Sox have as good a shot at the division as things stand as anyone else, I believe. I'm really trying not to let the frustration of a lost opportunity this offseason cloud the fact that they're still a pretty talented offensive club with a few very good pitchers. Like ANY other team in the division, except maybe the Tigers, if they start off hot and things fall their way, the division can be had.

I don't mean to imply that all I want him to do is bunt, but it helps a player with a little speed to be able to drop one down once in a while. Maybe you move the infielders in a step and a grounder finds a hole, or you change the infielder's positioning a little bit and that can work to his advantage. Do I think he'll hit .300? No. .275? No. ( I don't want to go down to where I'd answer "yes"... ) But adding to the repertoire can ONLY help.

WOW, what a GREAT INSPIRATIONAL POST that was....

WELCOME, SFS72! Dotson is a good choice - he always seemed to be overlooked when people talked about that 83 staff.
-
Since the eggs are in the Harris basket, we'd better HOPE he plays at least adequately. I hope Ozzie has someone teach Willie how to bunt - 3 hours a day in ST would be a good start. While I'd rather have Robbie than Harris, Robbie did start to slip late last year. Still wish him well, there's no reason to be bitter towards him.

I saw some of the supports are up. Didn't get a good look, though - a LOOOOOONG distance glance on the Orange Line towards Midway. Might take a drive past it this weekend if I'm bored. ( I get up for work at 4am every day, and my damned body clock won't shut off on the weekends! So I drive around occasionally - it's nice to drive with fewer people on the roads. )

If KW says Paul is getting married, you: (1) have to wonder if it's true (2) wonder if JR told him to tell the press, and (3) wonder if Paul's marrying the wrong girl with a similar last name.

As Ace Ventura said when he saw Ray Finkle's room: "Obsess......much...."? You seem to have a vivid recall when it comes to the postings of Steff. Is it LESS of a cult if you dislike the leader?
-
Hey, maybe Steff could have made it EVEN WORDIER like THIS: "Ladies and gentlemen of the Soxtalk message boards - lately I have seen much discussion about and reference to the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Major League Baseball Players Association and the various ownership groups involved in and tied to Major League Baseball. I am pleased to inform you that I have successfully acquired a downloadable copy of said agreement, and I personally am agreeable to forwarding this document to any and all interested parties. If you wish to obtain, via email, a copy of this document, please acknowledge said interest within this thread and share an email address at which you can be reached. Aforementioned document shall be delivered to you electronically with due expedience." "I got it - who wants it" works fine for me. And sounds like SOMEONE's a little bit jealous of Steff's celebrity friends... STEFF - HOW DARE YOU MAKE FRIENDS WITH FAMOUS PEOPLE!!!! You SHOWOFFY KNOWITALL BETTER-THAN-THOU SNOB, You!!!!! Of course, don't listen to me, I'm probably just another blind follower of the Cult Of Steff!! BAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! BAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! Bateman

....but....but....that's the FINEST JERSEY IN ALL OF SPORTS!!!!! That is a nice symbolic gesture, but it's meaningless. Worst will just have it washed and sell it as new at FANDEMONIUM!!! Better to sell it on eBay and at least get a couple bucks for it. ...or use it to wash the dog... -
Looks like the Sox are gonna go with what they have.... http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-sox06.html This is getting more discouraging every time someone new announces that they're not going to do anything. Typical - the White Sox are sellers in a buyer's market.....ugh....

Yeah, you wouldn't HAVE to....but you still would....

Pete Rose admits he bet on baseball

My own personal opinion of the Hall Of Fame is that it is a complete joke. A farce. A sham. A pissing post for a group of writers and ex-jocks to sit on high and decide who shall be granted entry into their little boys' club. You have writers who refuse to vote for ANYONE on their first ballot, regardless of merit. You have writers who let their personal opinions of the person cloud their view of the player and his accomplishments. I find it hilarious that people like Ron Santo drive themselves crazy hoping and praying for the acceptance of a bunch of old men and searching for the right thing to say, and the right way to say it, just to get a jacket and a plaque. It's pathetic. The Baseball Hall Of Fame is a dinosaur. -
If the Sox can get into the playoffs, I'll take my chances. Gotta get in it to win it. Doesn't matter how you get there - just ask that other Chicago team. 88 wins, then they beat a beatable Atlanta team and came within - say it with me - FIVE OUTS of the World Series. ANYTHING can happen once you're in....

If E6 would ever stop batting RH and giving up automatic outs, maybe HE could be that guy...

I heard that, too, but until someone puts a lock on the "climate controls", the Twinks will still have a clear home-field advantage. The division is still up for grabs, if everything stays pretty much as is. The Royals have about as much offense as the Sox and less pitching. The Twins are downsized but still have many capable major-league calibre players. The Indians are growing up fast, and will have a definite say in who wins the Central. The Tigers are trying to improve by going the mid-level FA route. They will still be pretty bad, but the Sox have to take advantage of them this year. They can NOT let the Tigers cost them the division again this year.

HEY!!! SILENCE THE CRITIC???? I WILL NOT GO QUIETLY!!!!!!!

I'm glad the Pack won, because I have a lot of friends in Wisconsin who like them. I'm a little surprised that Seattle hung in like that. I like Favre, he seems like a good guy.

My drinks are not weather-dependent. I will enjoy a beer during the Packers game. Only one beer, because my wife's at work and I am taking care of my daughter. Snow's falling now, by the way - reports predict anywhere from 3 to 9 inches. Shoveling is fun......
