The Say Sorry to Rick Hahn Thread
I mean the evidence was his job title was literally GM. I like Hahn but this insistence on giving hahn credit for the very very little success he's had in his tenure and blaming the failures on everyone else is laughable. Kenny, as GM, WON more than hahn and everyone blames Kenny for failures. It's wild.

5/2 Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland 1:10 PM
Which is almost meaningless given that it's April (I guess technically may now).

5/2 Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland 1:10 PM
Giilito problem, which is being greatly overblown here as he's given up nothing, is that he's predictably a two pitch pitcher the first time though the order. He doesn't really work the slider in until the 2nd time through. People are just sitting on the change or fastball and waiting. Not too worried.

Yeah, yas too. I think most werent sure robert would be this good offensively this year, so if Vaughn/abreu and yas get going a little they should be able to score. I dont trust engels bat at all so wont say relying on him. Great play Eat!

If the starting pitching keeps dominating games they should be fine, the division is week and those guys keep them in all the games. Robert is such a tough loss though

The good news, if there is any is engel will be back so they wont lose much defensively. They need vaughn to pick it up a bit offensively, and abreu, but if vaughn can get going maybe they can cover for the loss a bit.

5/2 Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland 1:10 PM
This isn't amateur sports. Fine him if you want to punish him for tardiness. I'm not a fan of this type of leadership. You are, in turn, punishing the rest of the team because Yermin was late.
-
5/2 Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland 1:10 PM
This is my problem as well. Yermin isn't going to play again until Friday! There was no need to get Lamb in there. This isn't college baseball, and I don't know about you but I don't get sent home from the office if I were late because we're adults and mistakes happen and you still have to do your job. Punishing the team and decreasing the likeliness of winning to "send a message" to a 28 year old man is amateurish at best.

5/2 Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland 1:10 PM
Elite man management, bro! Leury garcia has played 7 games in the past 7 days. Lol Meanwhile Vaughn, Yermin, and Madrigal have had 5 games off total. It gets dumber though because Tony was already wanting to play Jake Lamb today anyway because he can't have a game where at least two bench bats play, gotta keep them from getting stale while the starters have the texture of croutons because of how little they've played

It's always funny to see you stan for larussa over and over again.

If it had nothing to do with the lineup, then why isn't he playing?

Indians @ Sox 5/1--3:00 Central
Ta mania!

Indians @ Sox 5/1--3:00 Central
Leury Garcia has a career OPS vs righties of .626 in 1158 AB's, but yes... let's get the "lefty" out there.
-
Indians @ Sox 5/1--3:00 Central
This is just nonsense. After today, Leury Garcia will have 62+ AB's while Nick Madrigal will have 76. The Sox have had TONS of days off recently. There is nothing more exhausting than this narrative that baseball players need tons of breaks. The best players might get 10-12 days off a year. That's two off days a month. Madrigal has sat twice this week. Also, guys are much more well rested in April than they are in September, and given how many off days the Sox have had it's just flat out laughable to argue that they need the rest. LaRussa thinks that Leury Garcia is good and he's an archaic dope who is obsessed with L/R match ups like it's 1995. That's what is happening here and it's complete nonsense. Consistently putting bad players on the field is not a strategy teams with "post season aspirations" do. Why would a young position player wear down? The Sox need to actually MAKE the playoffs before they prepare for them lol.

Cleveland is still a divisional rival. I just can't stand this guy.

Lol why is it everyone's job but for the one in charge?
-
Indians @ Sox 5/1--3:00 Central
In Nick Madrigal 50 game career has has accumulated 57% of the career fWAR of leury Garcia over 470ish games.

Indians @ Sox 5/1--3:00 Central
Grandal has caught 50% of his starts

Expecting a professional athlete and competitor to go out of his way to find his coach and say I'm through in just not a reasonable expectation imo. By asking as a coach, you give him a way out. If you never talk to a professional pitcher I'd bet the majority of them would just keep pitching until he's told not too. 150,pitches be damned.

no no no, you got it all wrong. he actually just gets credit for giolito's rough start. Katz is the reason Rodon and Cease are great. Obviously!

I'll just leave this here

Dominkk I see you do this all the time, and I love your enjoyment of metrics, but this is just not how they were meant to be used. The projectability of 47 ab's (the total amount Vaughn has) using his current statistics has an R value still well south of .5 (sitting around .32-.42 depending on which stat you're looking at). That means even his entire sample still isn't yet a great indicator of what he's going to be as a hitter in his next AB or his next 100 AB's. By taking the sample down even smaller, to being L/R splits, you are dropping the R value down to .25-.32 depending on the metric you are looking at. The only thing that sees an R value near to past .5 over 50 AB's are K/BB metrics, and even then it just creeps over. It is typically the fastest to normalize. There is no need to take a small sample and make it smaller and start drawing conclusions on what Vaughn can and can't do. Is it possible he has been more comfortable vs lefties than righties this year? Sure. Is it predictable to the point of making a decision based on it? No.

Indians @ Sox, 4/30
It's not larussa fault they lost at all. The problem is he is consistently proving he has no idea what he's doing when he subs guys like garcia in for Vaughn
