Ta mania!

Leury Garcia has a career OPS vs righties of .626 in 1158 AB's, but yes... let's get the "lefty" out there.

This is just nonsense. After today, Leury Garcia will have 62+ AB's while Nick Madrigal will have 76. The Sox have had TONS of days off recently. There is nothing more exhausting than this narrative that baseball players need tons of breaks. The best players might get 10-12 days off a year. That's two off days a month. Madrigal has sat twice this week. Also, guys are much more well rested in April than they are in September, and given how many off days the Sox have had it's just flat out laughable to argue that they need the rest. LaRussa thinks that Leury Garcia is good and he's an archaic dope who is obsessed with L/R match ups like it's 1995. That's what is happening here and it's complete nonsense. Consistently putting bad players on the field is not a strategy teams with "post season aspirations" do. Why would a young position player wear down? The Sox need to actually MAKE the playoffs before they prepare for them lol.

In Nick Madrigal 50 game career has has accumulated 57% of the career fWAR of leury Garcia over 470ish games.

Grandal has caught 50% of his starts

Expecting a professional athlete and competitor to go out of his way to find his coach and say I'm through in just not a reasonable expectation imo. By asking as a coach, you give him a way out. If you never talk to a professional pitcher I'd bet the majority of them would just keep pitching until he's told not too. 150,pitches be damned.

no no no, you got it all wrong. he actually just gets credit for giolito's rough start. Katz is the reason Rodon and Cease are great. Obviously!

Dominkk I see you do this all the time, and I love your enjoyment of metrics, but this is just not how they were meant to be used. The projectability of 47 ab's (the total amount Vaughn has) using his current statistics has an R value still well south of .5 (sitting around .32-.42 depending on which stat you're looking at). That means even his entire sample still isn't yet a great indicator of what he's going to be as a hitter in his next AB or his next 100 AB's. By taking the sample down even smaller, to being L/R splits, you are dropping the R value down to .25-.32 depending on the metric you are looking at. The only thing that sees an R value near to past .5 over 50 AB's are K/BB metrics, and even then it just creeps over. It is typically the fastest to normalize. There is no need to take a small sample and make it smaller and start drawing conclusions on what Vaughn can and can't do. Is it possible he has been more comfortable vs lefties than righties this year? Sure. Is it predictable to the point of making a decision based on it? No.

It's not larussa fault they lost at all. The problem is he is consistently proving he has no idea what he's doing when he subs guys like garcia in for Vaughn

Leury is not good. What he did yesterday means nothing. Certainly not more than his entire career and this year and beyond. You took out a plus hitter who has been hitting everything he makes contact with hard, for Leury Garcia. It's just a damn joke at this point.

There are bad managers, and then there is Tony LaRussa. Every single night it's something dumb. TA gonna bail the guy out too.

TONY LARUSSA IS A FUCKING MORON

My feeling is, if you want to boo a guy because he's not giving his all, and dogs it. I understand. But Yas is out there playing hurt, and just scuffling. I'm not going to rip him for that. Catching is really really hard. I would argue the hardest position in sports, physically, imo.

That was elite Matt Foster change up mania. my guy!
-
Indians @ Sox, 4/30
Matt Foster fan club checking in. I'll be the last guy on Matt's wagon, and I am fully ready to accept that.

Yup, I still think he should take some time off. He's clearly hurt. The knee is clearly bothering him. Sit for 15-20 days and get healthier. I'm more concerned that the rest won't help and they're just waiting until the year ends and he's having one of those post-season surgeries.

I tend to cheer my players at the ballpark and boo the opponents. I have never understood booing guys on my team, even when the Sox were terrible. Right now when the teams good? I'd never give it to a player. There's no point. These guys are on our side.

those weren't hangers. those balls dropped like 10 inches and had top tier spin. just because they're over the dick doesn't mean they're easy to hit.

Perez is literally laughing at his own pitcher lol
