cool, that's not what you said nor is it what i responded to.

What are you talking about? So the White Sox wouldn't have been better adding a league average hitter compared to Adam Engel last year? Aren't you always one of the big fans of "average" is fine and you rip the Sox for throwing out sub-replacement level players. Well Naylor is average. League average is much better than a .473 OPS. So by definition, the offense is better. You get so upset if one of your points is questioned. It cracks me up.
-
Wait, how didn't the offense improve? Coming into today they were starting from L-R LF - .473 OPS CF - .644 OPS RF - .583 OPS Naylor has been a league average hitter 99 wRC+ .732 OPS. He is significantly better than everyone the Indians have played.
-
This is tough for me. Clearly Clevinger is very good at what he does, but he hasn't been great this year and the team was fine without him. They also have well below replacement players in the OF, so Naylor is an upgrade there by default. Quantrill can help the bullpen this year which needed it more than the SP. In addition, they clearly hate Clevinger's guts at this point ha, and that does matter a little... so are they better? No, I can't say that but I don't think this is a blow to the Indians playoff or division chances. I'd say they cancel out.
-
Quantrill has looked very good this year, and he was a top 50 prospect in 2018. Even last year he had a 4.28 FIP as a starter and he's still young. His k-rate is up as a reliever. Reylo just gives up way more contact than Quantrill in general.
-
fair enough; i wouldn't but that's just my opinion. Mardigal is worth Clevinger's control, but as said earlier I'm not a huge Clevinger guy so that skews things. I'm a big fan of Arias so I really like this deal for the Indians; I also like Quantrill a lot and he strikes me as someone the Indians will maximize and that is worth quite a bit. Naylor is what he is but he's a clear upgrade for them right now.
-
I find it funny that people think the Indians lost that deal, yet Sox fans would have been livid if the Sox traded: Dunning, Collins and Madrigal for Clevinger. Madrigal a little bigger prospect, but not by much based on some publications. Or would they be happy with that move? Maybe I'm confused.

Arias is a top 100 prospect Naylor is a top 100 prospect Quantrill was a top 50 prospect Arias is one of the fastest rising prospects in baseball too.
-
lol
-
Arias is awesome too. Indians clean up here. Naylor is a talented kid and they need him now, Arias is going to be damn good and somehow he'll turn into Lindor 2.0 and Quantrill will turn into a very good SP.

Clevinger and Bauer aren't even in the next tier for me. They are 20-30 ranked starters in baseball.
-
So just waiting a couple more hours to announce the trade they made 16 hours ago. all is good.
-
Indians get better this year.
-
QUantrill will turn into a star with their pitching development.
-
Between the both of them, they've had one career season in the top 10 in WAR as a pitcher. It's not the only metric that exists, but neither are in that category. Today? The top 10 IMO (in no order) Degrom, Darvish, Giolito, Scherzer, Cole, Greinke, Flaherty, Buehler, Bieber, Verlander (when healthy).
-
Just because someone disagrees with your assessment doesn't make them upset. He's been a top 6 pitcher as a 26 year old the past year +. He has shown an ability to improve and evolve - which is a sign of a star in baseball. So to me, I don't really understand the claim that he's a #2 or #3 when all he's done for the past year is perform as a #1. I guess if you expect regression, but he's actually gotten better over the past 18 months so not sure why he'd regress
-
Clevinger and Bauer are no where near top 10 pitchers. JFC
-
Giolito has 6.6 fWAR in his last 220 innings pitched as a 26 yr old and he's not a 1 and won't become one... it's an interesting proclamation to say the least. That's 7th highest in baseball in the past 1 yr + 1 month. White Sox fans underrating of Giolito is just odd. Maybe it's because he was so bad for that period of time. In Giolito last 220 IP he has a higher WAR than Verlander and Strasberg in near identical IP. I doubt anyone would question those guys title as a #1.
-
He literally would not be.
-
I'm just not a big Clevinger guy. He's a big upgrade over their back end, but I don't value him as a top of the rotation guy.
-
i follow jake burger on instagram, and he's retiring and giving up on baseball because he went to a football game with his girlfriend
-
Fathom follows the message boards and twitter feeds of all of baseball; he could connect all the dots. maybe he is cishek afterall....

What if the sox trade big stick nick? That would be devastating. I have to watch nick torment harold for the next decade. It's at the core of my sox fanhood.

Say what, rumple stiltskin?
