  1. To be fair, I've felt this way about Tony when he was winning titles. I have thought LaRussa was the most overrated man in baseball for 3 decades. Things like batting the pitcher 8th turned out to be huge nothingburgers - just ways for Tony to say he was the smartest guy in the room when in fact it meant nothing. He has called out star players because he's always felt he was the star. He's always felt that people need that type of accountability when in reality it's just nonsense. Tony has that "old school, I'm your second daddy" mentality as a coach and I can't stand that garbage and I'm glad it's leaving sports in general.
  2. Hey man, absolutely no need for you to sit out a damn thing. Your thoughts are appreciated and your closeness to the organization gives you a more educated opinion than I and many others. Even if I disagree, I appreciate reading your takes and have gone out of my way to do so. Keep on stating what you feel; it's appreciated.
  3. My guy, you were shouting from the rooftops that Hahns balls were cut off and he should resign and this is a travesty... now you're up this morning saying it's all overblown and Tony is getting a bad rap. I think you're looking too far into this and as I have often done you want to give Hahn the benefit of the doubt on stuff like this. It's easy to blame Jerry - it's always easiest to blame the big boss - but the whole "Jerry said ff Hahn" angle just doesn't make sense given his loyalty to guys like Hahn and Williams. Also, the game was much different when Ricky played; the average player was much different. Ricky was great but if we're being honest, Ricky and Tony hated each other because they both loved themselves so damn much. Those two couldn't fit thru the same doorway at the same time their heads were so big.
  4. A requirement of a manager is absolutely to not tell a player from an oppressed group how he should express himself and/or protest. Glad we could clear that up.
  5. if Jerry said I'm all in, go get your guys this off season rick - break the bank, but I want a guy I trust overseeing the manager spot. Would people be angry that rick jumped all in?
  6. I'm going to say this one time as to not derail. People who have a problem with how oppressed people protest do NOT actually have a problem with the method of protest; they very obviously have a problem with the cause and message and hide behind a distaste for the method. No one who understands someone's pain and struggle, or wants to understand, says i care but only if you explain in a convenient and comfortable way for me. No one who empathizes refuses to actually understand the why.
  7. ok and I'm saying if you did not hear this from Rick Hahn it's meaningless. If you did then I tip my cap to you. Fact is though, you'd never reveal your source and no sox media member will blow this story up so what we have is speculation and me not having a clue as to what the real story is because I have as many sources in the front office as ChiSox1917 has good ideas in his head.
  8. If the source is not rick hahn, speaking from some position of absolutes is laughable. If the source is rick hahn then jimmy can quietly sit on his throne and laugh at my ignorance gleefully. I'll guess hahn is here this year and next and beyond and that tlr and hahn are buddies and all is well though.
  9. Cool. High five to you. Always hilarious when people get defensive like this. Jimmy, you been telling people for weeks it would be hinch. Now its not, but we should listen to the insider info still and buy the new spin? Is the info good or is it not? You have every reason in the world to say hahn wanted hinch and was overruled. You reported it would be hinch. Its not. Churn churn.
  10. I'm not a big insider guy on things that aren't the news the team wants you to release. Its not first or even second hand information and its distorted by the opinion of whoever gave it. I never said this while he was here (don or the player) but I knew a recent sox player well through my best buddy. When we were together talking baseball and sox He said "all the pitchers hated Cooper and that he was lazy as fuck" and didn't put in the work. Turns out that one pitcher felt that way and it happened to be a pitcher that was of course this players boy. Let's just say not every pitcher agreed. I dont doubt for one second that jimmy heard hahn wanted hinch. I dont doubt for one second that jimmy heard hahn wasn't a tlr guy. What I do doubt is that Rick hahn expressed and fought against larussa and was explicitly overruled and told to ff off. I think he likely interviewed and hahn came away accepting.
  11. Yeah I'm with you, money is king. As floyd Mayweather infamously said "I'm a prize fighter, I fight for a prize dummie." These are professional athletes and its their job. I just dont think one could argue tony has more baggage than Hinch with the modern player maybe. They both got some leaks.
  12. I knew this was over when I heard they didn't even interview Bochy after he expressed interest. Its also why I dont think anyone but Tony has even been on the radar since he interviewed.
  13. I want to say, I find it amazing how many cite FA concerns with TLR. There are a lot of players who are still very very angry about what the Astros did. It is not something that has been forgotten. Hinch comes with significant baggage. I still think money reigns, but I don't think you can cite Tony baggage and ignore the real anger around the league at astros people.
  14. I like this too. This adds up.
  15. Just not buying it Jimmy. Firing Renteria was so out of the ordinary for this team. Just to do that alone says things were different. To do that only to turn around and ignore hahn just doesn't make sense. And I have NO idea why you think its a cowardly move not to hire a guy who took zero responsibility for cheating that happened in front of his face.
  16. Wow, I kind of like this from Jerry. Take a stand against that BS, im good with it. Problem is then turning around and hiring baseballs biggest supplier of "vitamins."
  17. this is also my thought. Rick wanted renteria gone. He was owed money. He could only move on if he brought in someone jerry would trust to be around. Hahn picked TLR. Jerry got a chubby. Fans were forced to buy viagara. Story over.
  18. how the tides have turned my friend. He'd be OK with it because HE made it. You turning into a little rick hahn Jr? Because I've already got that title locked up so you gotta be rick hahn III. Maybe since I'm lashing out against dad right now, you'll become the new Jr! All jokes aside, I just dont buy that hahn is against it adamantly and Jerry is telling him to fuck off. Exactly as you said earlier, its never happened why would it start now?
  19. its a great age. Its those terrible negative twos that get you.
  20. Yes your ignorant view on kneeling means exactly that; "you don't care" about the feelings of those whom the system oppresses. Lets not get political though; no sense in that, your baseball opinions and thoughts are hot enough to keep the ridicule flowing freely your way.
  21. I find the TLR is racist story to be a fascinating one. There are certainly a few black players who feel that way... and thats some serious smoke. There are also a lot of players in general who hated Tony. But Jerry has never been classified as anything of the sorts, and why would Kenny be on board of TLR had these ignorant views? The entire thing is weird I think Tony is a self absorbed ass hat who likely has some innate racial bias, but I'm not sure he's the kind of guy who wouldn't listen to his guys on a topic like that. I also don't think he'd send anyone to the dugout and Kenny Williams and the sox certainly wouldn't put up with it... would they? Man, it's brutal to even have to speculate this BS about a managerial hire in 2020. That's what makes it feel so dirty and bad. I can handle being a cheap shitty organization who treats their employees well and aren't racist dick weeds. Idk how I would deal with handling an underachieving team led by a bigoted doucher causing a clubhouse implosion. Although I'd pay a lot of money to see timmy give TLR a quick little backhand.
  22. The fact that you think I dont watch games because I said it as a jab at you once, really explains why you are the way you are. Godspeed.
  23. Tony, I get it. I am not arguing what hahn said and didn't say. I am stating that Rick Hahn is clearly on board and there's no chance he didn't know about larussa when they fired ricky. If you think there's some grand conspiracy that he was lashing out against the move when talking to the media, i just dont buy it. Hahn always says the right thing. What he says and what he does are not the same things. He is complicit if the sox hire larussa. Obsolving him of all responsibility is just insane to me.
  24. he wants to look good, per sox reports everytime something unpopular happens. Hahn is a smart man.
  25. I dont hate conservatives, but I think we could make soxtalk great again by changing your password and not telling you.
