  1. I like Kjerstadt more than Torkelson. Hell, I liked Beer more than Torkelson.
  2. No MLB mocks have any idea what they're doing. Not a shot at them, just the nature of the industry and the draft.
  3. WAR has a 1B problem. The 1B penalty is just wrong. For example; if you don't think Freddie Freeman is a top 30 player in baseball year in and year out, I have no idea what to tell you.
  4. No one breaks down mechanics, approach, a swing and video as poorly as Harold Reynolds. Gotta love it.
  5. Ed Howard will go to the Rays or the Dodgers and will excel. Life sucks.
  6. Given that 1 good player will make this a great "draft," I'm with you here.
  7. I'm against Harold again on someone; he hates Nick Gonzales, claims he benefits from shit competition. It's nonsense. The kid can play. He's a top 5 player in this draft for me. Respect your thoughts though Harold.
  8. I love how people show the WAR leaderboard for RH 1st baseman drafted in first round, and say they're bad picks... Or, maybe teams could have actually drafted the elite hitting 1st baseman? Teams missing and whiffing on the picks doesn't make the position a bad pick.
  9. For arms, this is more of a durability issue being 6'0 or shorter as a starter. I think it's nonsense at the top of the top of the talent pools, though.
  10. Hilarious that Vaughn is better than Torkelson and yet Torkelson is easily 1-1 because he MIGHT POSSIBLY POTENTIALLY COULD play LF MAYBE. Baseball teams have become so much smarter, yet still have weird stupid rules for prospects.
  11. Bring Ed Home, Sox! Do the right thing.
  12. Yeah, he's a blank slate. From a development standpoint, that's a dream come true.
  13. I still wouldn't take Bitsko - wouldn't touch a high school righty in the first round personally. I'd just rather he than Abel. I really don't care much about peak stuff in high school - rather you peak later as a pitcher personally.
  14. The extra year meaning his personal development. Bitsko is 17 years old. You basically have him for his senior year of high school professionally to develop as you wish. He's also a year younger physically. I'd much rather have the kid I can create younger with a great build. ALso, Detmers is Patrick Corbin comp wise; it's stupid how similar they are imo.
  15. I hope it's Howard, but I think there's a 0% chance we draft Howard. I hope I'm wrong.
  16. Bistko >>>>>>>>>>> Abel too I'd rather have the one extra year of development under my control. Bistko being really young is a huge advantage.
  17. You couldn't pay me the draft slot to draft a high school right SP in the first round.
  18. Agree; we've had talks about how top heavy he is, his lack of extension and the strain it puts on his arm - being all arm. That said, he could have possibly survived that if he didn't throw 132! innings in 19 starts while striking out or walking more than half his batters. He had games where he threw 130+ pitches. This after a freshman year where he was driven into the ground to close the season out. Avent should have been fired for how he handled Rodon, and yet he's still there.
  19. It's a weird year, as you said, and there weren't a lot of reps to go off of. I'm all in for Howard but 0% chance the Sox draft him, and they'll miss out on a kid who becomes a star right under their own noses.
  20. Rodon has injury issues because he's was ran into the ground in college by his coach.
  21. I want Ed Howard and I couldn't care less if it's considered a reach; Howard is going to be a super star in the major leagues. There's so much risk to drafting a northern high schooler this year - they're so far behind on reps with the corona hurting even more - but Howard has been the guy at every level and is dedicated and will be a star. I'm all in, but the Sox will pass I'm sure and go with a pitcher who likely profiles as a reliever. Jaysus. Edit: Howard has been the best short stop in the country for his age group for 10 years it feels like. The Kid has not peaked in anyway, and is only getting stronger.
  22. The only thing Torkelson has better tool wise is raw power.
  23. Some believe Torkelson can hold it down in LF; that's really the difference between the two. Vaughn is a better hitter; don't care what anyone says. Keith Law said Vaughn was a MUCH better hitter; I'm not sure I'll say that, but Vaughn is better.
