  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) Here is your statement: Im pretty sure you are the only one in the country who would say that Purdue is nothing compared to how physical Wisconsin plays. Maybe you can find a few people to agree, they just likely dont understand math. Unless you think it is some sort of NCAA wide conspiracy to not call fouls on Wisconsin. Chill out? You are the one infatuated with Wisconsin. Id guess that you mention Wisconsin in about 50% of your posts. Purdue of old, sure? Purdue the past 2-3 years? Their soft as heck outside of DJ Byrd. They've had Travis freakin' Carroll roaming the lane of late. Hammons is pretty dang soft too. "You are the one infatuated with Wisconsin. Id guess that you mention Wisconsin in about 50% of your posts." Just plain dumb statement. Last time I even brought up Wisconsin was the whole Uthoff ordeal. Wahhhh
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) He is just rabidly anti-Wisconsin and will make up even the most nonsensical statements to try and persuade people the terribleness of Wisconsin. Whoa, chill out Alice. You act like no one else in the country thinks the same about Wisconsin. Newsflash, you've beat Indiana's behind 11 straight times. I'm not talking crap about Wisconsin. I'm stating my opinion on their "defense". I think they body the heck out of people and I'm sure as heck not the only one. Sorry, I'm sooooo anti your precious Wisconsin.
  3. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 11:02 AM) Disagree. I'd much rather watch Northwestern than Wisconsin. There's at least a lot more movement going on with the Wildcats usually. I'd agree with this, but mostly because of their defense. I just can't stand to watch Wisconsin and Penn State play defense. Beating the s*** out of teams until the refs stop blowing their whistle, or decide to call nothing the entire game is not defense. It's unbelievable. I used to think Purdue was bad. Their nothing compared to those two. Win/Lose, I feel overjoyed when no one on Indiana walks away with an injury.
  4. I thought Haith has been pretty good?? Who do you think Mizzou will target?
  5. Jabari Parker looked really, really good yesterday. Finally getting back in shape. Really wish MSU would have been able to land him for the sole reason of another injection of talent into the conference. Vonleh is going to be Indiana's best all around player next year. Probably the best overall recruit Indiana has nabbed since Big George (according to a few old-timers). Hard to believe with Gordon/Jefferies.
  6. Just blows my mind how good Brad Stevens is. Obviously it's not going to happen with Crean turning IU around, but dear lord Indiana could be a dynasty with Stevens at the helm.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 12:36 AM) No problem. I thought you were piling on the earlier comment about the Indiana fan who has a bad feeling because they have to watch Wisconsin basketball: "I do too, but that feeling could be because I'm going to have to watch Wisconsin play basketball." Which is just so hilarious as Bo Ryan credit's Bob Knight for teaching him a lot about basketball. Come on, I was joking. Wisconsin just wins... Whether their style of basketball is fun to watch or not, it works for them.
  8. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 14, 2013 -> 02:22 PM) Got a bad feeling about the Wisconsin game tomorrow. I do too, but that feeling could be because I'm going to have to watch Wisconsin play basketball.
  9. I think anyone who has been paying attention saw this coming. Not that this game is over, but UM hasn't really played anyone. Burke is damn good, but Hardaway/Robinson are awful streaky. For the athletes they have, just no defense whatsoever. Minny will kill them inside with their physical bigs.
  10. Michigan getting exposed.... Jump shooting team that doesn't play very good defense. They sorely need an inside presence. McGary doesn't have the basketball IQ to be that huge difference this year.
  11. QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 12, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) Either that or I know how that 40 is a much, much, much, much, much, much higher number than 15. Indiana should have had an edge in free throws, they were more aggressive. But you can't possibly tell me that they deserved 25 more free throws than an aggressive Gopher team. It's not why we lost (not showing up offensively or defensively for the first 20 minutes is pretty obviously the reason), and it's par for the course in the Big 10, but you're fooling yourself if you think things were called equally on both sides of the court. Haha come on... You pressed almost the entire second half, of course fouls were going to be called. The foul was your best weapon yesterday, Indiana couldn't hit crap from the line. Very uncharacteristic.
  12. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 07:49 PM) Jaquan Lyle's twitter: Please oh please oh please Hah, that's a pipe dream. He wants UK, or itl'll be OSU/UL. He's putting up monster numbers this year, but got ejected again last night. He may have passed up Trey Lyles as the best prospect in the state, as he's averaging close to a triple double (having already put up 6 or 7 this year).
  13. One of the top 2014 recruits in the "world" is heading to IU this weekend for an official. PG/CG Dante Exum of Australia is flying 19,000 miles to spend two days in Bloomington, his only visit he has set up. Could see a commit from him. Already projected to be a lottery pick if he decides to forgo college. Tom Crean has it rolling.
  14. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 12:43 AM) Wow that's dumb. Of the five teams mentioned (Illinois, Cincinnati, Butler, Ohio State, Gonzaga), Butler actually scares me the most, but that's probably because I have sad/scary memories of last month's debacle. But with the way rankings work, Illinois should be ranked the highest. Agree about Butler, but mostly because of Stevens' genius. I'd like to play Butler in March as odd as that sounds. I don't think there's any such thing as a "good loss", but IU has been much, much more physical and tough since that game. You could see in spurts last night that Hollowell was starting to "get it". Once Hanner gets there, the depth 1-9 is going to be something special. It's just got to get there. Hanner could really help against Minnys athletic front line.
  15. QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 10:38 AM) Can we please stop with the "fantastic" talk? They've played two solid teams so far this year and both games went to OT. They're 1-1 in those two games. Do they look amazing against cupcakes? Yes. But can't we just wait until they actually do something that warrants calling them fantastic? All title teams have a weakness, but seldom is it defense. It's a big reason Roy Williams took a while to win a national championship (and his teams were much more loaded than this IU team). Partially agree with you, but you act like this team is a finished product. Their best interior defender (Perea) is just coming off suspension. He had 10 boards and 2 blocks in 12 minutes last night. He's going to make a huge difference, along with Elston coming back (probably our 2nd best interior defender). There's still a few months left to mold this team together and I have no doubt they will, as long as they stay healthy. They have the best perimeter defender in the country in Oladipo. I don't think another guard even comes close. Hell, Brad Stevens just came out and said this week that Victor was the best defensive player he's ever seen in college basketball. with the well oiled machine that is their offense, I think there's plenty of time to fine tune the defense (which has already been pretty damn good this year) now that Perea and Elston are back.
  16. LeBron would have went wherever WWW wanted him to go. Logic says with Cal, as he's a frequent visitor at Rupp.
  17. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 18, 2012 -> 11:25 AM) They were #2 pre-season last year because UNC was similarly loaded. That doesn't mean they weren't talking about how good they were. Once they beat UNC, the hype machine was on (notice my first two posts on this were clearly based on early-season results). They weren't all freshmen either, Terrence Jones and Doron Lamb were both highly productive sophomores and Darius Miller was a senior. That's why they were considered to be far better than this year's team (and this team was generally rated 3-5 entering the season). Which is what a lot of people are forgetting. UK won't be able to repeat what they did without a few kids staying each year. The lockout helped them tremendously. Still, a healthy Marshall in the tournament last year, I truely believe UNC wins.
  18. Definitely all for hits. They return the same team, plus more as they had year (which was a borderline top 10 team). Surprised it's Bilas saying that though. I think he's a great analyst.
  19. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 15, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) Rebounding aside, it's on the guards/Crean to make sure he gets the ball more in OT. He has to take over and didn't. The problem is Indiana looks similar to last year's team and hasn't proven a lot on the court yet. The North Carolina win was impressive, but we don't know how good UNC is. Georgetown is a strong team, but that wasn't a top 5 performance by IU in that win. Today against a very solid, but unranked Butler team isn't a good loss either. What has IU done to show they're worthy of a top 10 ranking? I'm not seeing it on the floor. Um well, they gave the best team in country last year their best game in the tourney and returned everyone plus a top 10 class. This was Jurkin and Perea's first game back and Elston returns next week. You don't think their top ten, or deserving of it thats fine, but that's pretty ridiculous if you ask me. No one is head and shoulders better than anyone this year, but If you don't think Indiana is on that first "tier" with the best chance to cut 'em down in April, you're bats*** crazy. This team has a little ways to go, but they have a helluva lot of weapons.
  20. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 15, 2012 -> 04:42 PM) Butler played incredibly well. We did not. That's all there really is to it. Great game by them. Learn from this, watch the film, figure it out, and get back at it. I don't even mean this in a negative way, but can you give me an example of a team you've liked? In over 8 years of posting here, I don't recall a team you've complimented. LOL no kidding. Terrible game by IU, but it's going to happen. Hopefully this sparks a fire under everyone elses' ass (Oladipo was great again) and they start playing some ball again. Zellers way better than that, and Watford needs to get his head out of his ass. Now we're down around 5-10 and "underrated" heading into the B1G. Time for another run.
  21. I think the other huge variable to look at here is that Crean has the advisors set up a 3 year plan for kids to graduate, instead of the regular four. That locked down Vonleh and his mom the instant they got to Bloomington. Hulls and Elston are in grad school right now. Oladipo and Sheehey will be finished with their bachelors this May. Zeller will be done in 2.5 this coming summer in one of the best business schools in the country. He's not only going after elite talent, he's going after elite students (a lot of kids are coming in with tons of credits, Zeller came in with something like 30+) that are willing to take a boatload of classes in the summer and be put on the fast track. It's actually a really smart strategy, if you have the student athletes to maintain it, which is sure looks like he does judging by the team GPA.
  22. Come on Illini fans, whats the deal with there being so many tickets up for grabs for when IU comes to CU? There's probably been at least 30-40 peegs members say they just bought tickets for themselves and their families. That place should be packed with excitement with Groce at the helm and the turnaround season.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 02:00 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2736581:date=Dec 13, 2012 -> 12:17 PM:name=He_Gawn)-->QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 12:17 PM) <!--quotec-->Oh definitely, but as a leaper, it's him and Williams. Perea won't get much time until the end of the year, if that. He's still got that foot issue. They'll be too much depth for him to beat out with Zeller, Watford, Elston, and Hollowell down there. Those guys are so tall though. And did any of them dunk over Seth Davis? I think not. except he added 10 guys of random heights. In all seriousness though, it's great to see this much athleticism in the Bigten. The league is much, much more exciting than it was even only a few years ago.
  24. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) I wouldn't go that far yet. I want to see him use that athleticism against Big Ten competition first. Oh definitely, but as a leaper, it's him and Williams. Perea won't get much time until the end of the year, if that. He's still got that foot issue. They'll be too much depth for him to beat out with Zeller, Watford, Elston, and Hollowell down there.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 12:34 PM) I didn't see him play when he was up here in HS at LaLumiere, but the sports guys who I know that did said he is on the Concord HS Shawn Kemp level as an athlete and dunker. It's honestly stupid. He's Rodney Williams, but 6'9". Unfortunately, he's had a lingering foot issue, so I'm not sure how much time he's going to get this year. He's got an unbelievable amount of highlight videos on youtube. They gave him dunk of the year for high school last year for this one...
