  1. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 05:38 PM) I've had extensive conversations about this with my IU friends and co-workers. Here's my biggest issue with ANY program oversigning. It assumes a certain amount of attrition from the classes above. Yeah, we're oversigned, but Remy Abell is going to get pushed out. Crean definitely didn't tell Remy Abell that he would be at risk of being pushed out if he liked kids in the classes below him (note, this would apply to Mike Shaw at Illinois as well). There's always a certain amount of attrition, transfers, etc. It just doesn't feel right to me when coaches push players out to free up other scholarships. I don't have a problem with how IU took care of its scholarship issue this year. I think IU did right by Matt Roth (he got two degrees). Assuming the Zellers were ready to pay Cody Zeller's way this year, the Ron Patterson issue doesn't smell as bad. Abel isn't going anywhere. He's been one of the best players in practice this year it sounds like. As for "creaning", it will take care of itself like it always does. Hasn't been one person who has come out and said Crean kicked him off the team. I guarantee Creek is gone after this year. His girlfriend just had a baby and is moving away. Hearing he has already told Crean this will be his last year, we shall see. Also, I'd bet anything Oladipo leaves after this year too. He graduates and the draft is 10x weaker in 2013 than it will be next year. Expect Vonleh to be a hoosier too.
  2. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 11:47 AM) How do they have scholarships to bring in Williams and Anya? They are currently one over, assuming everyone committed signs (though Zeller goes pro, that takes care of that issue). Creek probably doesn't come back for his final year of eligibility. But they are still oversigned by one with Williams and Anya. I work with a lot of IU fans (sigh) and there is some concern amongst them that Crean is going to be running off Indiana kids to bring in talented kids from out of state and that might lead to a backlash against IU from the coaches in state. Curious to hear your thoughts. I really have no idea and I've come to realize there's no use fretting about it. The staff will figure it out. It could get even worse, as I know they are still going to pursue Vonleh (and they actually are perceived to be the leader along with 'Cuse). We'd have the 3 seniors and Zeller gone which will cover the first four commits... After that, everyones guessing. But I'd guess Creek won't be back as his GF just had a kid. Oladipo/Sheehey have both jumped on the NBA radar. If IU has a great year, I see Oladipo leaving because of the following years draft class being so ridiculously stacked. Also, with as much talent as IU currently has, someone is bound to be unhappy with playing time. We shall see. I do know Zeller was ready to pay his own way this year if Patterson would have not had his incident. Zeller is living off campus with Luke and his wife.
  3. Sounds like Troy Williams to IU by this weekend. BeeJay Anya to follow next week.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 12:47 PM) 4 star on what site? Need to be more specific. They have a low number of recruits but a decent star rating (scout). I'm betting if they get another 2 and Kimbrough they jump up from #10 in conference and #$60 nationally. Im thinking they have the opportunity to be in the top 30 if not 25. http://ohiostate.scout.com/a.z?s=145&p...w=2&yr=2013 Overall very pathetic so far for the entire conference. OSU is adding another 6-7 players or so, Michigan is about done so there are alot of players left in the midwest in play. Sorry, was talking about Rivals. I use that for about everything and their football coverage is by far the best. Likely pick up Latham here in the next few days, then likely Daniel. I doubt Kimbrough flips, but we'll see. Tim Gardner whose committed to OSU has been to IU multiple times this month too. Who knows who else.
  5. IU picks up another 4 star, but this one was a surprise. 4 star DB from Geogia, Rashard Fant.

    Whatcha drinkin'?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 12:08 PM) So I;ve taken a real interest in Pilsners this year for some reason, mostly drinking Krombacher and Victory. Any other interesting ones out there? Speaking of Victory. Try their Hop Devil. Very, very good stuff.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 09:57 AM) Triton in Indy has a peanut butter brown on tap right now. Spectacular. Also of note, for those in Indy, SunKing has the best deal ever on Fridays (not new news, but passing it along for those that might not know)... $5 growler re-fills on Wee Mac, Osiris and the cream ale. The craft beer scene in Indy has become quite good over the past 5 years. No doubt. It's really taking off. Sun King is great. Triton too. The up and comer Flat 12 is also turning some heads. Then you have Upland in Bloomington that is fantastic. 3 Floyds in Munster. Peoples... could go on forever. Craft beer in Indiana is huge.

    Whatcha drinkin'?

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 10:36 AM) I like to ask this to beer lovers... how much/often do you drink? I assume most of us don't get hammered from our beer on a TOO regular basis, but I know a guy that is professional bodybuilder yet hardly spends a night sober. Freak of nature. I tend to drink 1 per day, sometimes up to 3. I rarely, if ever, drink to intoxication...I'm just too busy. Just depends on the day. Normally every other, 1-3 a night. Weekends, different story haha.

    Whatcha drinkin'?

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 24, 2012 -> 09:52 AM) Isn't it Voo Doo? It's definitely Broo Doo.

    Whatcha drinkin'?

Haha, there's a reason it's a 100/100 on BeerAdvocate and is almost impossible to get!! Try the Broo Doo if you get the chance, incredible. Gumballhead and Alpha King are also great too. Can't beat 3 Floyds.

    Whatcha drinkin'?

I'm a pretty big beer geek. Just picked up 2 cases of Zombie Dust from 3 Floyds last week. I'll be enjoying one when I get home soon. Best beer in the world.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 19, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) You seem to be the only IU fan excited about football. They couldnt even pack half the stands when the #8 team came to town. I dont think bball schools like IU will after be a football contender since they have next to zero fan and community support. IU will never be a football school, but it is exciting they are starting to pull some of the top Indiana talent. They've never had a class like this before and right now, Wilson has them at least competing with the top tier B1G teams on the field. Long way to go, but getting 6-7 wins a season in the future would still be huge for IU. It will never pass basketball, but it could become respectful. Especially with Hopeless up at Purdue running that program into the ground.
  13. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Oct 19, 2012 -> 07:10 AM) Good luck with that. Usually when someone commits to Clemson, amazingly it holds up no matter what. I have no idea what is in the water up there, or what is in the bags, but something is. This will be his 3rd weekend in a row at IU. 4th in the last 5 weeks. Supposedly, their all making their commitments known this weekend. We shall see.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) Sounds like the Gunner Kiel hype story again. Kevin Wilson is an offensive genius, not sure on the defensive side though. I think it's a little different than Gunner, as these kids are decommiting from big time programs to join the Hoosiers. Gunner mainly decommitted because his brother lost the starting job... Add in the fact that IU is actually showing some serious improvement, even if they are "moral" victories. We're putting up some monster offensive numbers, without our best player and QB in Tre Roberson. If they get some playmakers on defense, they could be pretty tough. Thing is, once Indiana turns the corner. I expect Wilson to be gone. Hearing right now that... Kenny 4 star DE who decomitted from Iowa, Latham 4 star DT who decomitted from Wiscy, Daniel 4 star DE committed to Clemson, and Allen 4 star safety committed to IU... will all be at Hoosier Hysteria this weekend to make their commitments (if they haven't already).
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 18, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) To be accurate, what he said was the they were a better team because of their tremendous depth. And I think he just just still salty from SAm Thompson slapping his nuts on Seth's head: http://ptch.com/ptch/5078c40c8d4f983d4fa0c7a9 The big weakness of the other Big Ten teams IMO is depth. OSU has barely any quality post players or scorers other than Thomas, Michigan is relying on big years from freshman, and MSU's best player is also a frosh. Indiana has the ability to change their entire look with quality bench players and also talented freshman. Obviously i know most about OSU because they're my team and we will be just an also-ran if guys like Zelle and Shannon Scott havent learned to drive the offense and we are betting BIG TIME on LaQuinton Ross to be a huge scorer from the wings. If none of that materializes it will be a disappointing year for sure. Huge Sam Thompson fan. Looks like IU/OSU/Cuse are going to be in a for a battle for Mr. Noah Vonleh's services here in the next few months. Kid is an absolute freak. Will be a fun year.
  16. So when did Indiana start becoming a football recruiting school... On the verge of landing about 4-5 four star defensive players. WOW. Most of them saying Crean is a huge part of their recruitment. Hilarious.
  17. I think ND will have a very good year. Saw Seth davis went to IU practice this week and Louisville/OSU practice the next days. Said IU is on a whole other level than the rest of the teams. Should be a fun year. I think OSU will be very tough by the end of the year.
  18. Ahhhhh some of you guys need to sack up. The single life is the free life. You can do what you want, when you want, how you want. You can spend your own self-made money wherever you want. Get married, that goes straight down the s***ter! If you're still moping after 2-3 years, you probably should talk to someone. No broad is worth that crap.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 9, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) Thats the way it looks every year though. I am just waiting on that year where its completely stacked and everyone says THIS is the year that all teams are good. No joke. It's the same thing said every year. You know in the end, many of the freshman will "surprise", just like they do every year and shoot up that list. Fully expect to see Dekker, McGary/Robinson, and Ferrell on there when it's all said and done. OSU will have a few of their sophomores on the list after they prove they can play. One thing I predict is that Michigan won't be as good as some expect. I think the B1G will go through IU/OSU/UW. Still not sold on MSU without Draymond, even though they will have a good chunk of talent. Next year they should be nasty. Another thing is that I expect Oladipo too absolutely shoot up that list. I honestly believe he could end up in the top 25.

  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 12:35 PM) Well if its just going to be a replication of what the Big 10 is doing with the journey its no big deal. But if its going to be Kentucky meets Jersey Shore (what I was imagining) then you really dont want to be taping that. I think this is a whole other animal. The bigten network isn't a HUGE network like ESPN. It also shows all of the teams in the conference. This is going to be a TV show, on a national network available to everyone, about one team.
  22. UK is also now reportedly getting an ESPN reality show for their upcoming season. Like they need anymore help recruiting. What a joke.
  23. Haha damn I thought you all knew this already or I would have posted it earlier. Yea, it's insane. He doesn't even have to use WWW or his shady ways anymore. And yes, Indiana and Purdue players have to stay in crappy dorms too. It's ridiculous.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 4, 2012 -> 11:08 PM) Calipari has created such a system that he doesn't even have to pay players now. Immediate playing time, national title contenders, near guarantee to be a 1st round pick, stars like Jay-Z & Drake hang out with the program. Until the NBA changes the one and done system, Kentucky can get quite a stranglehold on the NCAA game. Not to mention the 5 star luxury resort you get to stay at on campus for your year spent on campus. Personal chefs and all. It's a joke. Calipari is ruining the game through all of these loopholes. The NCAA or NBA has to step in and do something about this one and done thing. They could literally have 4 of the top 5 players in the 2013 class. Throw in Andrew Wiggins, who is likely reclassifying to 2013, it's disgusting. This guy is far and away the best prospect since LeBron.
