  1. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Mar 30, 2012 -> 10:03 PM) I'm biased, but I'm trying to be fair and reasonable. Davis is a very good player and a great defensive presence, but I just didn't see POY type performances. I saw more than the two games against IU, but those two games stick out to me. He was good, but not POY good. Personally, I think Kidd-Gilchrist is a better player. I think it just speaks volumes about how skilled Cody Zeller actually is. Got the best of one of the better defensive big men we've seen in some time, twice. Davis will go #1 overall this year and Zeller may just go #1 next year. He's slotted there right now, crazy.
  2. So how do the Illini fans feel about the hiring of Travis Steeles step brother? You know, the same Travis Steele you blame for the Eric Gordon decommit and the sabatoge of your program?
  3. Yep, getting rave reviews, as he always has by Telep, Daniels, Bossi.... etc. Rivals said he has a chance to move into the top 15, maybe top 10 in the final rankings. Jerry Meyer was also quoted saying Hanner Perea was better than any big man in this game. After watching last night, I'd agree with him. They were awful.
  4. I listened to the score and some other sports radio on my way to/and from Chicago yesterday... Seems like everyone is just getting pissed off at Thomas. This has been absolutely brutal. Should have hired a search firm. Would have been over with no leaks in 5 days.
  5. Scott Drew sucks. What sucks even more is that Indiana was in UK's region. DAMNIT
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 12:11 PM) Kentucky, in my opinion, is the best overall team since the UCONN team with Okafor, Gordon, etc. (when they were all healthy). If they shoot FTs like Reggie Miller last night, this tournament is over. I agree. I've seen a few people say they aren't even a top 5 team if you combine the best teams of the past 5 years. I think their incredible. Davis and MKG are future STARS in the NBA. Gilchrist is just on another level. He's just an awesome player, does everything. Agree, UK can beat everyone left in the tourney by 10+ if they play like they did last night. Sucks that IU had to be in their bracket, as I think they could have beat ANYONE but UK last night.
  7. That was one hell of a game. Saw a few reporters tweet that no one was even talking crap while walking out because of the game they just witnessed. Zeller is going nowhere, Watford may enter, but I don't think it would be a wise move. What would make Indiana a top 3 team next year? A speedy, smart, McDonalds AA point guard and an athletic beast to put next to Zeller. What do they do? Add just that, and then some. Crazy how far IU has come. They are going to be disgusting next year if Watford returns. Probably the favorite to win the whole damn thing. Exciting times. No one is stopping UK this year. They are incredible.
  8. Just don't see Stevens at Illinois as a good fit. Can't see him pulling talent away from Indiana, and I also can't see him pulling in the guys from the CPL. Regardless, he's one of the best coaches in the game. We'll see what happens.
  9. Sounds to me like sources close to VCU would be SHOCKED if he left. If Illinois hired this Simeon coach as an assistant, I'd laugh my ass off. What a joke, considering the s*** they gave Indiana with Steele.
  10. What an incredible year for Crean and the Hoosiers. I hope like hell we can beat UK again, but that's a huge, huge order. Looking at it though, we are a year ahead of schedule. Next year should be one of the best years since the early 1990's. SOOOO much talent returning and coming in.
  11. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 11:24 AM) I have a hard time believing this because if this were true the kid would have gone to Marquette. You're not going to tell me an 18-year-old turned down 6 figures to go somewhere else for no money. MSU didn't get him legally either. Check out his mothers new ride. The number you continually hear around Indiana is $75,000. He was thought as a Purdue lock. Called Painter a "father figure" and they were the first on him. He's from "the region", only half pro-PU area in Indiana. There's a reason Painter didn't even finish in his top 3. He just flat out stopped talking to him. Then you see Dawson talking s*** to Painter during their game at MSU, then Painter firing back in his press conference after the game.
  12. Too much "Buzz" love in this thread. His recruiting isn't so clean in some cases. The Branden Dawson recruitment was an absolute joke. Pretty well known around Indiana these days. Buzz was actually the high bidder, reaching over six figures. Branden decided he'd go to MSU obviously, but not before he had two all expenses paid unofficial visits to Marquette. UCLA was also very "nice".
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 12:03 AM) The perception comes from IU having a rep this year of getting a s*** ton of calls at home. .. wow
  14. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 11, 2012 -> 12:42 PM) Ahahaha Scott Drew. I'd be happy with him out of the Big 12 because he gets talent, but the guy can't coach whatsoever and is a disgruntled recruit away from violations. Those are my thoughts. He'll go down one day, and take the whole program with him.
  15. Is Illinois really looking at Scott Drew? I had a heard a few rumors about that?? If so, that's another Kelvin Sampson waiting to happen, only potentially worse.
  16. It was definitely Sullinger. Painter can blame himself for his horrid recruiting since the Baby Boilers.
  17. I think IU could also be poised to make a run. Their in the tournament, nothing to lose. I think maybe a S16 before we're trounced? Next year could be very special... Add in a top 3 class class to this exact same team a year older (minus verdell)... YIKES
  18. Don't look now Rex, but IU has won 5 of 6. Should be one hell of an atmosphere Tuesday for MSU.
  19. Man, Hulls has looked awful of late. Oladipo making comments that this one is on him and he's needs to step up. Nice to see from a sophomore with unlimited potential. The way this kid works, he can be an absolute star. Time to start playing like it, you too Watford.
  20. I think MSU can make a big run. So physical and just a real close team. Also, sounds like Barlow and maybe Byrd of Purdue were arrested last night.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 05:10 PM) We'll learn a lot more about this team in two hours. Kansas is actually a pretty good matchup for Iowa State. Not sure about Baylor, but I probably don't need to rehash my feelings on Scott Drew. I will for you then. Scott Drew is a POS.
  22. QUOTE (Boogua @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 10:16 PM) How am I crying? It's a legitimate question. If UI played a similar style I might not be complaining, but they don't, so they weren't able to shoot 40 FTs. Not once did I say that it was unfair. I was just seriously wondering what kind of defense a team is supposed to play in this type of game against a team like IU. Fair enough, and I'm sorry. I'm just used to Illini fans and ref complaining.
  23. QUOTE (Boogua @ Feb 9, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) First time in a while that I'm not actually angry with the team or Weber after a loss. Not quite sure how you guard a team like IU when the calls are like this. They have the shooters to beat a zone. What kind of defense are you supposed to play? Keep feeding Meyers like you did the first half and it's a close game. The kid is a beast and your team wants to shoot jumpshots all day. Paul and Leonard go to the hoop everytime, it's a down to the wire game. Indiana took it to the rack everytime and were hammered nearly everytime.
