Heading to Chicago New Years day (Sun-Mon) for a quick stay/getaway with fiance. Staying at the Millinnium Knickerbocker. Have reservations at Mercadito (always go here), but they are only serving brunch all day due to the holiday. Any other reccomendations? I'm pretty much open to anything. Also, not sure what's going on in town that night? Probably just bar hop/wine taste.. .Any suggestions appreciated.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 02:35 PM) IU opens in East Lansing tonight. It'd be tough game anyway, but V3 and Sheehey are probably out so I'm not too confident. Definitely. Sheehey is one of players we couldn't afford to lose... He'll be out for OSU too, which is huge. Jones has also been very good this year. Has played under control. -
drunker than snot. if i go upsairs i get a bj, but i think i gonna order piazza first.

BigTen kicks off tonight... IU vs MSU tomorrow... I don't see how IU can pull that off with Jones III and Sheehey out. Injuries at a TERRIBLE time. Sucks. -

Hearing UT for Stokes if that makes you feel any better haha... Also hear UK is definitely not an option. -

QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) It was interesting how the game played out. As one poster in the thread said earlier "the refs let them play". While that is mostly true, it didn't seem all that true in regards to Anthony Davis. If he's able to play 30+ minutes the game wouldn't have been all that close. Also interesting is that Kentucky and Indiana shot the same amount of FTs. This is taking into account the fact that UK was up late and got 4 FTs because IU had to foul. I saw a lot of no calls on Kentucky's end that were resulting in FTs on Indiana's end. Especially early on. With that being said, Terrence Jones cost Kentucky this game. I mean, was the guy shaving points? How does a player of that caliber put up a line of 4 points, 1 rebound, and 6 turnovers? Dude had Will Sheehey on him during points of the game. Doron Lamb missing FTs, Anthony Davis missing the front end of a 1 and 1 late (why did he have the ball?!), and Terrence Jones having, what I expect will be, the worst game of his career. And still Indiana had to shoot 60% from 3 and hit a buzzer beater (while Kentucky was trying to foul in backcourt, but no call) to win. It was a really huge win for Indiana. Congrats on that. But it might be a bit early to proclaim that "IU is back". QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) It's been what, 4 years, since Indiana could look a ranked team in the eye in its own arena and say "We have a chance to beat this team". That is now true. They may need a lot of lucky shots to fall, but this is a huge step up from the last couple years. Exactly. There isn't one game on the schedule that is a "guaranteed loss" like we have had the past 3 years. We have a stud player (Zeller), a clutch/nails leader (Hulls), a heck of a 2nd scoring option (Watford), and one of the most improved players in the conference (Oladipo). We have the athletes to compete now, and while IU may now be "overrated", they have all the confidence in the world. Add in a top 3 recruiting class next year, suddenly they are title contenders once again. -

IU havin' fun -
Weis failed recruiting at ND? WTF? He had top ten classes seemingly every year. It was his coaching that sucked and he "babied" the players.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) Yeah ive been suspect on Purdue but people seem to like them so I was waiting for conference play to really rate them. they like them because of their coach, and that 3 year recruiting hiatus he took is catching up with him.. think how bad they would be if hummel wasn't around? purdue fans are starting to realize talent matters! and that 2007 class that was the best of all time in history of the country (as a whole), isn't likely to happen again -

Both teams are incredible. Hope we can give UK a game next week. I think Teague will get rattled by the crowd. He's going to try to do too much trying to put it to us. -

How many times did they say Cody Zeller during this game? I only caught the last 5 minutes, and i think they thought he was playing. Even Anthony Davis at the end of the game... "UNC has some good players in Jon Henson and Cody Zeller"... it's not that hard.... -

Plenty of bad calls both ways. Tonight proved to me Zeller is in fact the real deal. He was getting abused down low, fought through and put up 19/8 and led the charge. Great game. IU would have folded the last few years when they were down 7 with seven to go. After the Crean timeout, IU stepped on the gas. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 27, 2011 -> 09:21 PM) IU finally remembered how to shoot with about 14 minutes left in the game. Really impressed with their defense again (and Butler's too, at times). Zeller was quiet early, but once he started asserting himself he played well. Sheehey played really well all game, and Watford was a non-factor. There were more bodies on the floor than any game I've ever seen, though. Defense and intensity by both teams last night was incredible to see. Crean said IU had 74 deflections, the most he's ever had as a HC or assistant. Defense is night and day from last year. To the people who say Crean can't develop, Sheehey, Oladipo, Hulls, and a few others would strongly disagree. -

That was the best IU game of the Crean era last night. Finally fun to watch again. -
Anthropology paper... "Deconstruct an item from popular American culture (music video, commercial, song, television show, image, etc.) using the material you have learned throughout this course. You may study any medium of expression to find patterns that elucidate an aspect of American culture (e.g., kinship, marriage practices, gender roles, social hierarchies, cultural construction of violence). Choose something that you can observe and which lends itself to analysis. Spend plenty of time observing or studying your item while taking detailed notes. Once you have done this look for patterns. It is up to you to pick a topic that will give you insights into American culture." Any suggestions?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 05:54 PM) They did, in a crazy OT game. And ya, if we learned anything from last year, give Brad Stevens some time and Butler can be dangerous, but right now they're not too good at all. They also did it with the help of some of the worst calls I've ever seen. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 13, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) IU plays Chattanooga at 4. I think they're worse than Stony Brook, so I'm hpping for a better all around performance, though they played well on Friday. I do want to see better 3-point defense, and more assertiveness from Oladipo in taking open shots from the outside if it's there, though. Good game for IU, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Chattanooga had some players, started 4 guys that transferred from a power conference and picked to win their conference. It's unreal just how much Cody Zeller affects the game, without even touching the ball. I don't think anyone expected the amount of impact he has had on the defensive end too. 6 steals? Incredible awareness. Oladipo has also improved significantly. He's our best all around player, and it's not even close. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) That makes sense. What board is the main one? Peegs.com, the Rivals site. Just don't look at the free board haha, it's a cess pool. The premium side is pretty nice, less retards, and it's got a huge following. $10 a month memberships has allowed Peegs to hire away the main Indy Star sports reporter, so I'd have to figure he's banking some serious money, all for having IU and high school connections haha. Pretty sweet gig, but I'm sure you can relate with OSU forums who charge with their football following. Mike (owner of Peegs, Mike Pegram) said today it's MSU and PU as the top two for Gary more than likely, with IU maybe as the darkhorse. UK is out. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) It there a meltdown happening on the IU board? No way, it's been about a month since we thought we had a real shot. Both his parents graduated from Purdue, with his mom being an All American guard on their womens team. Couple that with IU already using the oversign by signing 5 guys next week, there's just too much working agianst them. Still, IU pulls in a top 5 class with 2 five star players. Nothing to be ashamed of. -

Looks like Gary Harris either to UK or Purdue, with MSU as the darkhorse with the visit this weekend.
