  1. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 07:55 AM) Cats can actually be potty trained, tell me when a dog could do that. Beg to differ. My golden can open and close sliding doors to let himself out, turn on and off a faucet to get a drink, and bring me a beer... All while being mans best friend. The only thing he can't do is make me a grilled cheese, which he's working on.
  2. What I meant by the parents comment was that these kids' parents are smart, Crean isn't fooling them. And you're right, Crean does have some things to prove, but I think with this type of talent, he can get it done. He's never even pulled in a 5 star before, and now he's got 3-4 on the horizon, plus two more in 2014.
  3. So you think Adams can predict a 6'4", 14 year old kids future as a superstar basketball player? Interesting. Perea was discovered in a soccer game, playing defense and the first thing that was noticed was his freakish athleticism at an early age. Evidently Baylor thought it would translate well to basketball. Perea has one hell of a work ethic, and evidently those skills do translate to basketball. But to credit Adams for predicting he would actually like basketball, pick up the mental side, let alone learn how to dribble, is pretty ridiculous. If you're that good of a psychic to predict those qualities, by all means, funnel them to Illinois. And lastly, if Adams has been funneling players to IU from AHOPE, why in the hell has he let over 20 other players go elsewhere and IU gets Tijan Jobe (you know, the guy who averaged less than 1 point and 1 rebound for his entire career)? This wouldn't even be an issue if Perea hadn't turned into a stud. If Perea was funneled to IU with the help of illegal benefits, you'd think Adams would be smart enough to buy Perea his own laptop and also get him an IPOD with an actual screen that wasn't 6 years old prior to Perea getting ahold of it.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Speaking of using logic, you are really going to take the position that there is nothing shady about an AAU coach becoming the legal guardian to a basektball player and providing that kid with benefits and it just so happens that the kid in question picks a school where said AAU coach's son was currently working and where said AAU coach has connections. Like I said, do some research before commenting. Perea was discovered by Scott Drew's contacts in South America. He tried to stash him on the east coast but could not find a program that would allow him a visa to stay in the USA. He had to turn to AHOPE. Adam's organization is for African players, but decided to do Scott a favor because of his ties with his father, Homer Drew. Hanner had NO ONE here, nothing, unlike most of the kids from AHOPE who at least have a relative or two. Adams opted for legal guardianship of Hanner because like I said, he had nothing. This was when Hanner was 14, 6'4 and started playing basketball days prior. But yea, I'm sure Adams just predicted Hanner would turn into a superstar. give me a break. As for his son being on the IU staff, you're right Drew was on the IU staff. He's now on the New Mexico staff, so if he was such a HUGE influence as you're implying, why isn't Perea now switching to NM? Drew Adams played at Iowa, got an assistant coaching job at Iowa, then got a job assisting at the University of Tennessee before an IU job opened up. It's not like he isn't qualified. Hilarious, your move.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) LOL, so in my google searching I missed a walkon. Oops. (Seriously, I could have swore I found a roster list showing 1 walkon and 1 sophomore/scholarship guy). I think Taber actually earned a scholarship because they had an extra that final year of Sampson, so that's probably it. He was a walk-on to start though. Regardless, it was the biggest turnover in NCAA history, matching the Evansville team that passed away in a plane crash in the 70's I believe.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) And it's pretty hard to do more than that in your first 4 years when you start with a loss of a scholarship, 3 years of recruiting sanctions, and a roster consisting of 1 sophomore and a walkon. Lets not use logic here. Actually though, it was 2 walk-ons that were left. Taber and Finklemeyer.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) Not that easy to sell when your program hasn't won a National Title since years before the kids they're recruiting were born, and your coach has a grand total of one Conference Title and one NCAA Tournament that lasted past the first weekend. Actually it is. You see, the brand Indiana University has in this state from a basketball standpoint is unmatched. Kids still grow up dreaming to play for Indiana, you wouldn't know that if you're not from here. It's a very easy selling point when the program has a rich tradition. These kids we're getting aren't dumb, poor, kids. These are kids who's parents are doctors, lawyers, and business owners. They're sold on IU and Crean. He's never had this much incoming talent before. If he doesn't do anything with it, you know Brad Stevens will.
  8. Also, if the Indiana elite were funneling players to IU, why does Purdue, Butler, and Michigan have more players from that program than IU. Hell, why does Illinois have an IE player that Indiana recruited? Matt Painter and Brad Stevens played for IE for crying out loud. Do you really think Mark Adams funneled Cody Zeller to IU? The Zellers have been through the recruiting process with 3 boys, you think one man that coached Tyler Zeller for one summer has the power to sway the family to choose IU? Laughable. The only players Mark Adams even knew before they committed to IU was Perea and Jurkin. The reason IU is getting good players? Crean spending all his time in this state making relationships and landing Cody Zeller. It's pretty easy to sell winning championships at a traditional program in your home state, playing with your best friends.
  9. LOL, this is why you should do some research before commenting on something you know nothing about. ESPN did a horses*** job on that article. Scott Drew and Baylor put them up to it because IU reported them for that crap they tried to pull on Perea (threatened to have him deported if he went anywhere but Baylor). Here's a good summary from the PURDUE moderator. That's about as unbias as you can get, considering this guy hates IU. Also, Mark Adams is Perea's legal guardian in the United States, so taking away those "illegal benefits" (which would be an IPOD shuffle hand-me-down from 2004, and a $400 laptop shared with another AHOPE player) would be like your parents taking away your Christmas presents from 2006 for no apparant reason at all. This is last summers news and basically a Baylor smear campaign. Mark Adams went on record right after the article was posted saying how he cleared everything with the NCAA beforehand and they told him nothing illegal was done. As for IU getting in trouble? Fat chance, they are the ONLY program in the country that has a compliance department dedicated only to basketball. (Thanks Sampson) As for IU having the #1 class in the end, you're probably right. If Gary Harris is added, they are #1 and it isn't even close.
  10. Ah, thanks for clearing that up. McGary was at Maryland yesterday and seems to have taken a liking to them.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 10:53 AM) Damn. I am hoping for IU. If someone can get in his head about his work ethic, he is going to be a lottery pick. He is the most complete HS big man I have ever seen, including seeing Zach Randolph and a few other Mr Basketballs in IN over the years. McGary would have been a lock for IU had he qualified for 2011. The 2012 class is already #1 in the country and Crean has set his sights on Gary Harris for the final slot. I'd love to have both, but the scholarship situation isn't going to let it happen. McGary has been a beast this summer, but he's also over a year older than all the kids he's playing. The sky is the limit for Harris, and he's also one of the youngest kids in 2012. As for UCONN, they just lost two scholarships because of failing grades from the APR. Not sure where the hell they are getting these scholarships. The Indiana North South all star game exhibition between Srs. and Jrs. continues tonight at Kokomo. The amount of talent in that game rivals any large AAU tournament you'll see this summer. The amount of talent in this state through 2014 is staggering. Zeller, Teague, and Dawson lit it up for the seniors Monday, winning 117-113. Zeller led the way with 27 pts and 19 rbds, Teague had around 25 and 8 assists I believe.
  12. Team is quickly picking up the motto "If you can't beat us on the field, beat us off". I like it.
  13. Nader played on the Indiana Elite team with 5 IU commits, (3 healthy right now). Two of the three commits are 5 stars and the other is just outside 5 star status, and Nader was a freakin' blackhole. He chucked up 20 shots a game and didn't pass at all. Finally, he quit the team and now IE is playing really well. Not sure where Nader ended up.
  14. so i sold a book back on amazon and they gave me a $27 gift card to their site... wtf should i buy with it hah
  15. @darrenrovell May 1, 1945: Hitler confirmed dead. May 1, 2011: Bin Laden confirmed dead. (via @JTalarico328, @DVNJr). 66 years later.
  16. Ill be there too, section 162, probably smashed with my fiancee. We got this one.
  17. It was posted on the bucknuts pay forum by one of the main writers and later taken down. Some of it has popped up on the purdue pay forum and IUs. Like I said, sounds like the story won't break yet, and its all speculation that its OSU. Regardless, sounds bad for whoever it is.
  18. this is about the basketball program... and the rumors are about point shaving, and a lot of it. We'll see what comes of it, but the ESPN guys have been talking about a huge story in the works for a while.
  19. Also, rumors on many premium rivals forums (including bucknuts, but was since taken down) that Ohio States basketball program is about to get busted. According to the writers, on a scale of 1-10 of how bad the violations are, it is said to be a 10. These rumors about a BIG finding that would be happening in spring/summer are starting to come out... Doesn't look good for OSU.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) I'm not going to lie, I'd probably lie like hell. If you don't use it regularly and used it a few times in college, putting it down is probably going to create more work than you'd want to deal with and no one would ever know that you lied. I knew a guy who was applying to the policy academy and they asked him if he ever smoked marijuana, he said one time (which was true, he tried once in his entire life). They told him he'd have to reapply at a later date. I don't know more details than that. Was this in California?
  21. what a fun little day this has been so far. 420
  22. so whats up with peavy? came out after one inning.
  23. Thanks guys, if you're at the game I'll buy ya a cold one!
  24. Thanks! Where would I find these discount codes? Haha
