  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 27, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) Locking down the state hasn't even earned him an NIT bid yet. Because the kids he's locked up havn't arrived yet. They start next year with Zeller and Etherington, then 2012 the #1 class in the country arrives. Not fair to Crean to judge him quite yet.
  2. I wouldn't even say cleaning up, I'd say dominating. Knight didn't even lock down the state like Crean has.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 02:00 PM) Purdue is going to be in serious trouble if Painter doesnt start competing for some players. You already have IU locking up most of your state's top talent, and you have OSU, MSU, ILL, Wisconsin, and Mich looking to be better than you next season. Purdue has a decent class coming in 2013 and they think it's their next JJ, Robbie, Moore class. They didn't really learn their lesson, as they can't keep trying to put all their eggs in one basket and hope one recruiting class can carry them. All they got with the 2007 class was 2 S16's. Regardless, the chance that class even ends up half as good as the "big 3" is extremely slim as 2013 is a down year in Indiana and IU already locked up the states best prospect. Painter has started to try and recruit ohio and Illinois of late and pulled some players, but not anywhere close to the "elite" caliber he needs to compete for the big prize in April. People praise Painter for being a great coach, and I think he is pretty good, but the jury will be out this year when he is without JJ and Moore. He pulled in that class with the help of Cuonzo Martin who is now gone and mostly due to the fact that IU was a s***show under Sampson.
  4. Actually IU had no returning scholarship players. They brought back 2 walk ons. Thats never happened before in NCAA basketball history, and it happens to one of the bluebloods. Looking back, its kind of a miracle to see what Crean is doing. If I was Painter, I'd bolt for Mizzou. Purdues best run ever = IU locking down the state more than it ever has? What a slap in the face.
  5. He will definitely get another 2 years to prove his worth. Next year they must be a middle pack team for him to not face any heat whatsoever. This year was a letdown, but looking back, we projected GMM and Maurice Creek to play major minutes. If Creek comes back strong, he will be one of the top players in the conference. Hulls, Creek, Jones, Watford, and Zeller is a pretty good start. Sheehey and Oladipo will provide some great athleticism coming off the bench until the highly touted guys arrive.
  6. Not until after 2012, but after seeing the dribble drive destroy bigten teams in the tournament, I know Crean can succeed with adequate talent. He hasn't had much at IU.
  7. 2012.. He'll be there, he's assembling something amazing... Actually if I were the rest of the bigten, I'd hope to god he's there because if hes not.... I don't think you'd wanna see what Brad Stevens could do with 4 and 5 star players...
  8. As predicted consensus top 40 player Jeremy Hollowell (4 star on rivals, 5 star on scout) picks Indiana. Crean had 12 visitors at the IU/UM football game back in November. He tried to sell them on being a family, playing together, and bringing Indiana basketball back to where it once was... Right now, 11 of those kids have committed, and we are waiting on one more in Gary Harris. Unreal.
  9. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 06:17 PM) How on earth did you find this out before me? The announcement isn't even official on Anderson and they already have a rumored name? Geez, the coaching carousel is intense. I go to Purdue, and Martin played and coached here for years. That's just the rumors, but it won't surprise me one bit.
  10. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 09:34 PM) ISU is rumored to be taking yet another transfer (more than likely). Since we've run out of Spartans to take on, I wonder who it could be. Hopefully its Barlow from Purdue. I mean, who wouldn't want this guy?
  11. UT will dumb down their list after nearly every one of those guys decline. Hell, the national board on Rivals has UT fans running rampant thinking Brad Stevens will take the job. Thats hilarious.

    Gatlinburg

Good trip so far. She said yes and I just met Brett and Deanna Favre playing Puttputt. No one recognized them, but me. Deanna was really nice, let us go ahead of them. Brett was on his phone clearing up some recent news it sounded like.
  13. rumors are also flying that Ryne Smith may not play either due to a concussion he received via barlow and the ball rack after barlow stormed out. John Hart may also have re-broken his leg.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) Speaking of compliance, how does every school get away with giving every player a set of 300 dollar headphones You aren't kidding dude, especially the football team here at Purdue. Even the equipment managers have them. BTW this $10 pot, I'm in.
  15. Yea, Johnson can block some shots, but one on one he is god awful. I remember Craft ripping him apart on 3 straight trips down the court.
  16. So Crean kicked all those guys off to make room for Verdell Jones and Tom Pritchard? Ummm no. They all left on their own account, or they failed off the team. That team had serious drug issues and had 19 F's between those players that left, so they wouldn't have been eligible to play that next year anyways.

    Gatlinburg

The lady planned a trip to Gatlinburg next week for spring break. I'll be proposing there at some point, but other than that, what should I definitely do while there? Any restaurants that are can't miss? Thanks
  19. I'm still not even sure how Pearl is still at Tennesee, that university is a disgrace. Can't wait to see what comes of this OSU scandal.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 1, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) Ugh, again with the hard-on for being anti-Weber/Illinois. Also, Griffey just came in at a s***ty time. He's behind 2 seniors and a blue chip freshman, along with the team often running 3 guards. Wisconsin probably would have been better simply because he would have played limited minutes for 2-3 years and then maybe played a more important role in his last two years. He doesn't have room on this team, regardless of his "talent" (which i think is overrated in comparison to the conference). Edit: Also, you should read more into Weber being high on one of his big recruits. Cuz that NEVER happens in d1 basketball. Ask all those kids at IU who were kicked off the team for the incoming freshman. Who was kicked off the team exactly? The only one you could even remotely make an arguement for is Bawa Muniru, and even thats debateable because he didn't play at all. Enlighten me.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 05:41 PM) I try to be nice about it as I have a great group of kids and I certainly don't want to make any of them feel bad. That being said, everyone gets a good amount of time no matter what, the only real difference in playing time is the top 3 players on my team play most of the 4th quarter where as some of the weaker kids will only play 2 or 3 minutes in said quarter. I understand that all parents would like to see their kids in at the end of games but just as they think it's unfair that they don't play at the end of the 4th, it'd be just as unfair to my better kids if we weren't trying to win games. Some parents are just stupid. I coached a summer AAU baseball team and I've just come to the actualization that some people are just never happy. We had a big kid who ended up going to the University of Kentucky to play infield and his dad would freak out if we EVER took him out of the game, regardless if we were up big. The day after he signed with UK, we were up by 13 runs in the top of the last inning so we pinch hit for the kid. His dad came in and pulled his kid out of the dugout and left because he said we were ruining the kids chances of getting any recognition. Some parents just take it to the extreme.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) How many of them does Crean have committed? 2011- Zeller (5 star) Etherington (3 star) 2012- Ferrell and Perea (5 Stars) Patterson and Jurkin (4 stars) 2013- Hartman and Davis (4 stars) 2014- Lyles (5 star) Blackmon (4 stars) Out of that group, only one is not playing HS basketball in Indiana (Jurkin). Crean is on a recruiting run that has been virtually unmatched in college basketball, sans UK. Theres still a ton more talent left in those classes, so the talent will definitely be coming in the next few years and Crean will definitely be under pressure to win.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) Basketball in Indiana>your state I love Hoosier Hysteria. That is all. Especially right now with SO much talent in Indiana. 3 McDonalds All Americans for 2011. Scary thing is 2012 is supposed to be the deepest Indiana has been in years. We could potentially see 5 burger boys next year from freakin' Indiana. This state is just ridiculous for basketball.
