Ok, I'll take it back and say for sure the state of Indiana is on lockdown. The top two prospects in 2013, Colin Hartman 5 star and Devin Davis 4 star, committed to IU after the game today. Yogi Ferrell makes his decision Wednesday. This is one of the most incredible recruiting runs I have ever seen. -

I honestly would not be surprised to see Minny win the BT this year. So many weapons on that team, especially when Joseph gets back. Williams is probably the best NBA prospect in the Bigten, so when he decides to play, they could be lights out. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) How is the fact that he is a good kid and the kind of kid the program needs so difficult for you to understand? And how is my stating that amongst 3 other reasons "so much emphasis"? You picked out what you want and missed the point of the post. Rock, you're an intelligent guy. If you go back and read my original post and can't grasp the concept I was relaying, then don't be a fan. Personally, I think you're smart enough to get it, so you either choose not to or didn't read it all and missed the point. It's not terribly complex. Exactly, no one is claiming were turning into this huge recruiting juggernaut and are going to take the BigTen by storm. Were getting some extremely high character kids with great intelligence and it's going to be extremely fun to watch this program continue to grow. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) I think people are mistaking my posts for saying there is no talent at IU. I know there is talent, and more is coming. I just dont agree with the notion that Zeller for some reason is going to automatically turn IU into the top recruiting team in the conference and will influence all top recruits in Indiana to want to play for IU moving forward. He isnt even the top kid in the state in his class. I still believe that alot of other teams are going to continue to raid Indiana the same way they have for the last several years. And no one is saying were going to be the top recruiting team.... I believe that the out of state schools days of picking and choosing who they want in Indiana are over. Obviously there is still going to be talent leftover. BTW, Zeller is the best high schooler in IN. Teague and Dawson have the most upside by far, but they are not there yet. That is why they are rated higher. Back to Matta. He got Thomas to commit entering 9th grade. The Sampsongate fiasco was in full force. People thought Crean was still trying to recruit Thomas when he was going up to Luers to watch their games, when in reality, as we found out, he was forming a relationship with the Blackmons. Their son just committed to IU. You're correct he was not at Butler for long, but come ask anyone around here what they think of Matta these days. He's just not well liked, and that probably dosn't mean much to you, but im sure its not going to help his cause recruiting to the west of Ohio. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 11:48 AM) So Zeller's good GPA in High School is going to open the floodgates on recruiting at IU? I dont buy it. I understand and am excited about the prospect of IU returning back to form in BBall, as I stated before I am actually quite a fan of the program. However, I still dont think that all of a sudden a middle of the road team in the conference is going to gobble up all the top talent in a state based on one player who wasnt even the #1 or #2 player in his state, although apparently a "marquee" name. And if he truly is this dynamic player that everyone seems to think he is, there is no chance he is a 4 year player at his size. If he stays 4 years he will be a Tisdale-caliber player and thats still good, but not quite the star he is being built up to be. I agree that 2012 is shaping up to be a good year for IU recruiting-wise, however in Indiana alone you possibly have 4 out of the top 5 kids in state going to schools other than IU. 2 of those I know fairly well because on the OSU forum they are being called Buckeye leans, and you can bet MSU, Ky, and Purude are going to take their fair share of the top kids as well. I'm happy and all that they are finally getting out of the dumps of the conference, but automatically assuming they are going to take over Indiana from the likes of MSU, Purdue, OSU, Kentucky and even Butler, seems to be getting ahead of yourselves quite a bit. Who are these supposed Buckeye leans? If you're refering to Harris and Hollowell, thats comical. Purdue is not pulling any of the talent that IU, MSU, or OSU want. Painter has pulled one player since 2007 that I would consider an impact player, and that is Terone Johnson. OSU has always been a strong pull since the Oden days in Indiana, but it's starting to change with the amount of people in Indy who just do not like Matta. To many people think he "sold" his soul after he left Butler and inherited OSU. -

Also to go along with the Zeller recruitment... UNC was out the week prior for what happenened on his official visit. Lets just say ol Roy screwed up mightily by not having Cody stay with Tyler on his official. Whoever Cody stayed with, ditched him at a party to go home with some random girl and locked him out of the dorms. So there Cody was, lost at UNC, at some random party, and probably made his mind up right there. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 09:11 AM) Is there a story behind Jelan Kendrick leaving Memphis? Seems strange to have a top player leave right at the beginning of the season. Punched a teammate, threatened to kill another teammate, and constant arguing with coaches and players during practice. -

No one doubted that you have talent. Not one person has said that. I will say its time for the Illini to start doing something with that talent. No indiana fan is proclaiming that were going to be the best team in the big ten because of one player. We are excited about what's happening and if you want to degrade us about it, that's your choice. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) Oh, and don't forget Brandon Paul to D. Wade. Actually, they're saying Leonard is more athletic than Dwight Howard is, and of course Dickey Simpkins being the idiot he is doesn't help their astronomical expectations of these players. I swear I'm not making this up. I know you're not making it up. It's been on their scout board too, which is widely considered by many different fans to be the biggest joke of a board out there. Leonard and Richardson are going to be great players. The two exhibition games I've seen from them as a team though, prove otherwise. The Illini have to make some noise this year, or Bruce is going to be gone. -

Reporter just got off the phone with Yogi and he tweeted this is what he said... "grosenstein Greg Rosenstein Just spoke with Yogi Ferrell: "Cody and Hanner (Perea) are the two guys I want to play with." "grosenstein Greg Rosenstein Yogi Ferrell on if the process has sped up after today's announcement from Zeller: "It's definitely sped up. That's for sure" Rock, I think you're also forgetting Crean brought in a top ten class in 2009. Zeller is not a one and done, 5 stars rarely are. There are maybe 5 each year. Hanner is a sure fire 5 star and may end up being top 5 in his class. He's the one we have to worry about going pro. For 2012, without the updated rankings we have 2 four stars and 1 five star. That is a pretty good start. By the time Cody gets to campus, he will more than likely be playing with 3 potential all big ten players in Creek, Watford, and Jones. He's not going to have to be the go to guy. And yes 2014 is a ways off, but Trey Lyles is going to be a sure fire 5 star. He's currently ranked number one in his class, and I'm willing to wager a lot of money that he will be a top 3 player when its all said and done. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 06:14 PM) I'm happy for IU and all, but I think the fans need to be a LITTLE more realistic. This guy is not a John Wall or Derrick Rose type. And Indiana is still FAR away from the recruiting of Michigan State, Ohio State and Illinois. I don't know one person who is calling this kid the "savior" of the program. He's a big get in terms of in state recruiting. The next two classes in Indiana are ridiculously loaded. If you have not noticed, everyone knows who Zeller is because currently, it is the top story on freakin' yahoo.com. People are taking notice that Indiana is a sleeping giant that has just awoken. It has been a long ten years for a HUGE fanbase. Cody Zeller made it "cool" to be a Hoosier again, and I would look for 5 star Yogi Ferrell to commit within the coming days. I'm not knocking the Illini at all, as they have cleaned up Illinois recruiting as of late. I am saying that Indiana is not longer going to be a bottom feeder in the Big Ten. There are going to be some serious fights in the BigTen in the coming years. -

People have been saying he's IU's to lose for weeks, then recently there been talk about UNC, and as of today, Butler is supposedly a huge player. No one has a clue and no one has any real "sources" because the Zellers are so quiet. His mother has just informed a news channel that he has made a decision and the only people that know are his parents, not even his brothers. -

Zeller announces at 1PM Thursday and would not be surprised to see him pick any of the three remaining schools. I'll just be glad when its over. Go IU. -
So I just got a call from a lady at US Cellular for a free cruise/flight for filling out some form at a sox game I attended this year. They did say I had to pay some security fee and post fee or something, but I didn't ask how much that would be. Is this some random scam or has anyone else had this happen to them?

Baylor and POS Scott Drew finally getting caught.... http://msn.foxsports.com/collegebasketball...sketball-101210 "I guarantee u if he does [commit to another school] he will be in Colombia for the spring and summer and next year. Don’t forget it,” the text said. That other school would be Indiana, and this may just push the 5 star forward to the Hoosiers once and for all. -

Cody has been to IU three times in the last 3 weeks, with one visit coming this past Wednesday. Cody is the biggest recruit for IU since probably Jared Jefferies in terms of turning around the program. IU had five 5 star players on campus last weekend and have a great chance at all of them. If Cody chooses IU, which every indication seems its down to IU and UNC, then the 2012 class has the potential to be number one in the country with the talent the state of Indiana has for that class. A lot of talent is waiting on Cody to decide and many "in the know" seem to think IU holds a slight lead over UNC. Time will tell, but I like IU's chances, and so do many others. If Crean can pull in Cody against the likes of UNC, watch out. He'll be visiting Butler this weekend, UNC the next, and IU for Halloween with his best friend and current IU commit Etherington. In early November, he will be set to make a decision. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 02:46 AM) Kev, I hear you on the Notre Dame - MIchigan game. Let's not forget though that Michigan stopped ND w/ Crist 4 times in the 2nd half and the 95 yrd TD pass was one play on blown coverage. In the first half, I got the same exact feeling you are describing. However, I just ask that Crist wasn't that great in the 2nd half after the first drive. I would submit to you that Robinson's first road game and only his 2nd start isn't representative as to how the offense is playing now nor will it play the rest of the year. Turnovers and special teams could be Michigan's achilles heel. We already know the D is limited. I don't expect every team to shred it like Chappell and Indiana did, but I have no delusions they are a good defense. The offense is predicated on what the defense gives them. I think the best any team in the country can do is try and slow them down, limit the big plays and make the drive the length of the field. That increases the odds for mistakes and turnovers. I do think at some point this year, the defense will give a good enough effort to win a game and a FG or two will determine their fate at one point. They are 1-4 on FG's and have pretty much shut it down. If their kicker(s) can show that was a fluke and become solid inside 40 they'll be okay. That may not happen. I'm certainly not looking for a long FG, that's for sure. The tests are ahead. But with MSU, Iowa and Wisky at home and Penn St struggling, I think 9 wins is realistic. They won't win all of those games, but stealing at least two of those four would be very nice. Eight wins would not be a disaster, but a bit of a disappointment. Bingo. I think Chappell and the rest of the Indiana Offense will shred nearly every defense they play this year. This week vs Ohio State will show a lot. -

The result was the NCAA finding zero evidence of any wrongdoing with Thomas, but some other bulls*** violation that resulted in a one year ban, basically ruining the momentum the program was building right after the Flying Illini. Which is basically what Rex just said. You would have been fine if you were clean in the first place. -
