Well, because it would be crazy, as in stupid crazy. TA may not be the better player (debatable, at least for this White Sox team), but adding Lindor's salary is 100% counterproductive and doesn't make any damn sense. At least try and come up with something that makes a tiny bit of sense.

Sale had Tommy John surgery on March 30. He will not pitch a full season in 2021. Sale will cost more money in 2021 than Keuchel. That would potentially limit what the Sox could spend on additional pitching. McCann being a FA is the least of why the Sox will not trade Grandal. Vazquez brings nothing to the table. And thats not even addressing the Red Sox side of the whole equation. This trade proposal is not the worst I've ever seen, but it is definitely a strong contender.

A quality 2 or 3 arm is something Sox can get with or without Hinch. A quality 1 or maybe 2 is what we need. Hiring Hinch takes at least 1 option off the table and who knows how many others won't want to play for him. Still don't think Sox pay for Springer regardless of who the manager is, and having an in with Springer isn't as important as upgrading the top of the Sox rotation.

I'm certain that Hinch = No Bauer I'm also certain that Bauer is the only top of market free agent pitcher available. I guess I am not certain that a trade could net the Sox a 1 or 2 starter, if that helps?

My point was that Hinch= no Bauer No Bauer= same old white sox upgrades to the pitching staff, as in bounce back candidates, middle market, not top of market

Bottom line, Bauer and pitching in general will have a much more significant impact on the White Sox ability to win titles moving forward than Hinch or any other manager ever will. I want Bauer more than I want Hinch. Hiring Hinch means no Bauer, and likely means much less appealing and much more Same Old White Sox options for the rotation "upgrades".

Well, I just checked and Cash is under contract through 2024, with an option for 2025. So much for that...

Of all the people being mentioned, this is the ONE guy I hope Hahn meant when he said what he said about waiting til after the World Series.

This deal is a non-starter. This solves none of the Red Sox current problems and creates a whole new set of problems for them with their fan base.

Wouldn't acquiring Harper now be roughly the same as if the Sox had won the Machado sweepstakes? Not that I think there's a chance in hell Harper happens, but as fans we can't be expected to believe that "the money was spent". Grandal and Keuchel and all the one year fillers were gonna need to happen regardless of a Manny acquisition.

Imagine how badly Ricky would butcher the lineup construction with Harper and Vaughn added.

The thing that most here are neglecting to consider is that going into 2021, I think we see an absolute shit ton of players non tendered around the league. I think there will be bargains galore, and thats exactly what Jerry likes.

Did you not watch the game? Or any games this year? Every name after the first 2 either underperformed significantly, is toast, may be hurt, or is an unknown after not throwing a pitch for 2 years.

All I can say is its so exciting to finally have a reason to be excited! Meaningful, do or die, playoff baseball for the Sox, it just doesn't get any better than this!
