I wrote that just off the top of my head....i didnt say that anyone actually felt that way, especially you 2K4 i hold you in such high regard! I just wanted to use the word spinmasters in a sentence my utmost apologies... But my opinion of the Torii Hunter play is this...I did think he was out of line, there was no need to hammer Burke but I dont think to wrongs make a right...go out and win tonight, play hard, slide hard, hit hard and win the ballgame....nothing stings more than an sound assbeating

But...with that being said...the outcome of the game may have swayed some of the people's decision because had Bonderman stayed in the game we may have won!!! Therefore in the mind of a disgrunteled Sox fan the "Ump botched the call" allowing the Tigers to bring in "stopper" Ledezma and play with extra fire b/c of the bad call by the umpire.... Just thought i would try to put a spinmasters spin on the subject rolleyeyes.gif

Well now that post I better understand...I've actually said the same thing before on many occasions. The connection i couldnt make was how this game reflects on that point... But if you look further in Preston Wilson's numbers he does have alot of double power (grant you Coor's does come into play for that) and does walk 50+ times a year which isnt TOO bad...he also has a decent amount of speed and plays solid defense. I think any offensive acquistion would help this team especially with 3 and 4 out of our lineup...would I rather a OBP player or a catcher sure!! But Preston Wilson would help our team.

Uh.....Can't Say Im following.... What conclusions do you gather from this game other than a little more offensive firepower wouldnt hurt? We need?? I understand if you say catcher...but what else???

Call me crazy but has anyone entertained the option that the player easily available from the Dbacks is Brent Mayne? I mean we could use a quality veteran catcher...Just a thought... And I really dont want Alomar back here....I LOVE to watch Uribe field a baseball at 2B...hes so unorthadox yet OHHHH so effective....

For Once Brando I have to say I ENTIRELY agree with you... FIrst off Burke's ability to call a 'good game' what exactly merits calling a good game and how do we know that he can do such things? Secondly, his hitting is well about as bad as it gets...a slow roller to the left side or a flare to the right side is about all I have seen him produce thusfar... Not to be nitpicky but he should have pounced on that bunt single that Pat Borders had tonight...instead of making Buerhle have to try fielding it...and I have yet to see him throw out a baserunner!! Burke seems like a real good guy, I admire his heart and love for the game, I would never question a guy who is willing to stick it out in the minor leagues for 10 plus seasons and wish him all the best...but I think his best is as a backup lets give Davis a chance out there! Okay, i am done

Hmm....with the way the mariners have been playin the last week or so...We should be seeing Jeremy Reed in the Majors sooner rather than later...They have officially packed it in!

OHHH....and me and Brando have been gettin along so well lately.... I'm sure he has a good reason....he normally does have well thought out posts.... For all the long time posters here at soxtalk let me apologize for ever saying that most sox fans dont worry about what is happening on the north side, and are more concerned with the how the white sox are doing...After reading this and a few other threads I now see that the vast majority DO find more pleasure in a cubs loss than a sox win... I'm sorry but I can't share in your happiness...it is pretty bad right now...Ozzie is apologizing to the fans and we are currently in our longest losing streak of the season...We need to right the ship... And the Cubs are winning the wild card! GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT PEOPLE! GO SOX!

Wow Hawk Harrelson is posting on this site now?!?!?! COOL! Well besides his loss in velocity I truly havent noticed his lack of pitching inside until Hawk was obsessing on it in the early innings yesterday. I actually am optimistic on Esty having a solid remainder of the season...hes been throwing more 4 seam fastballs to mix with his cutter and as long as he continues to do this i think he will be ok...Nothing like last year but he should be successful

Short Season A Ball is primarily a league for Newly acquired college players...its comparable to Advanced rookie ball but most of the players are much more polished than that of a rookie ball team which is mostly highschoolers, juco and hispanic free agents.... So to say he is 22 isnt a bad thing because if you look at the rosters the VAST MAJORITY of the players are 21-23 years old... The reason i know so much is because one of my close friends plays in the New York/Penn league....

It comes as no suprise Kerry Wood is injured after the astronomical pitchcounts Dustyball requires out of him.... That being the case I do wish him well and hope it is not a longterm injury, hes fun to watch no matter what team he is pitching for

Billy Koch....gotta love it, at least i was never a supporter!!! It was almost disappointing to know that Hawk wasnt doing the game...His minutes of silence and OHHHHs would almost have made it enjoyable. I have always liked Armas Jr...I think he is about exactly what we need to slip into that 5th starter spot... At worst hes the fifth starter with potential to be out 2nd or 3rd best Starter... Yes hes coming off an injury but we are in the age of 20th Century modern medicine. It has come a long ways in reviving careers...I could list about 40 major league starters but whats the point he is "DAMAGED GOODS" And Brando since when is 89-90 mph fastball a BP fastball?
