After an exhaustive search, Getz named GM/VP

It sounds like that was always the plan and Getz will certainly be in the mix. I think some got out a little over their skis on this one (shocking I know). -

He's likely to have a role in the FO. -

I'm hearing Dayton Moore is unlikely to happen. -

The timing was because season ticket renewals went out this week. Reinsdorf figured he'd lose money if he didn't make a move. This was strickly a business decision. -
If he's doing this of his own volition then they should tell him to stop. Immediately.

I so wanted Madrigal to be traded to the A's. He and Allen would be the shortest middle infield in baseball history. Little league teams would have big middle infielders.
-
Good lord he has another new setup. What are they doing with this kid.

Getz doesn't draft players or coach the players so..... -
It sounds like he's just going to work out the team but not play in games. Good.
-
Utimately I think the goal is to make the player look better on internal reports or for potential trades. Sometimes they just like fucking with each other. These geeks can be c***y that way.
-
Every team has a computer model for prospects. They put in all the scouting reports, stats, metrics etc. The players age and level are heavily weighted so what some teams will do is promote young players to levels they may not be read for just to make him look better in models. A 17 yr old in low A should light the models on fire. I have no idea what a 17 yr old in AA does to the models. Salas is 7.4 yrs younger than the avg player. The model may just shut itself down.
-
I hope they're not pushing him just to f*** with other teams prospect models. That would be really bad.

It's very interesting that Getz would be the guy in charge. I wonder if that means Moore would be in a head of scouting type roll. That would fantastic. That's a roll Moore would excel in. He's an excellent scout. -
Sigh........

That's total bullshit that guys's a fucking idiot. Kenny and Hahn both wanted Harper badly (maybe the only player they ever agreed on) but Hahn fucked it up when he thought it was a good idea to put his hero Boras and Reinsdorf in a room together to negotiate the deal. It took about 30 seconds for them to start screaming at each other and that was the end of that. They pivoted to Machado after it was obvious Reinsdorf was never going to sign Harper. -

Best case scenario would be he catches about 80 games and DH/1B another 40-50 but that would require the new FO (God that's fun to say!) to clean up a lot of the dead weight on the roster. -

It's hard to believe but next year Salvy and Lee are going to be a massive upgrades over the bums they ran out there the last few years. -

Why on earth do you play the infield in there. -

If you have to pick between two awful pitchers you may as well keep the one with the rubber arm. -

Getzy already making the tough decisions. -
Hopefully the new front office won't ask him to change his scouting grades on recent draft picks to avoid embarrassment the way the last front office asked their scouts to do.
-
I don't believe anything that Hahn fanboy says.
-
Hopefully they will make the tough decisions that Hahn was obviously never going to make.

At this point you have to figure Getz is a lock for a role in the FO. Moore is likely for another role but I wouldn't call it a lock. There's a chance if Reinsdorf interviews other candidates someone could knock it out of the park but Moore is currently the leader in the clubhouse.
