  1. Eh. I liked him a little in HS but then he went to Illinois for 5 years where he got hurt and wasn't very good. I'm surprised he was drafted even as a 9th round money saver. Maybe he'll get a cup of coffee as a 2 pitch reliever but it's hard to see him as anything more than an org guy.
  2. The Reds non-tendered Nick Senzel. I can't believe that dude hasn't hit. He's still only 28 and I still think he has a season where he's able to stay reasonably healthy and his swing is locked in and he puts up huge numbers. I already died on that hill so who cares.
  3. This trade is a product of the dumpster fire Getz inherited. I'm sure he would have liked to get a long term high impact player but I think that will come in the Cease trade. This trade he addressed defense, base running, makeup and pitching depth. You know the things Hahn thought were a punch line. I think he did very well to make the organization better and hopefully the higher impact players will come soon though Nicky was a 6 war player as an everyday SS two years ago.
  4. Nice trade by Getzy. He traded a setup man (and $6.75M) to fill 2 positions of dire need. He got two 25 yr old former 1st round pitchers and 2 solid middle infielders so they can shoot Romy and Sosa into the sun. Keep getting the bums off this roster.
  5. I honestly didn't thnk they were going to trade Cease because they're serious about trying to compete next year but it sounds like they're going to try to compete with the players they get in return so the players will likely be major league ready or very close. They can fill some holes by trading him but they open a giant hole in the rotation that I don't think can be filled with a few 1-2 yr FA pitchers.
  6. Half those teams weren't in the market at the deadline. They were actually smart not to trade him then.
  7. Lets not pretend Benetti didn't want the cake and eat it too. Even if Reinsdorf didn't like him he employed him for 7 years and he would still be employed but the demands got too big.
  8. Benetti wanted to miss 25% of his "dream job" so he could pursue his other "dream jobs." The Sox said no. So that's that.
  9. I'm told they're not trading Montgomery or anyone else for Salvy.
  10. So Eberflus had dumb penalties up his sleeve for the 2nd half.
  11. Right. If the announcer is annoying you just put it on mute which I had to do quite often with Benetti. Just find someone who calls the fuckin game without the vaudeville act. Have fun with Tigers math, Detroit!
  12. WOO-HOO!!!!! Fantastic start to the off season!!!!!
  13. Probably have to trade for someone else's bad contract because I doubt Reinsdorf will eat much money. Hopefully Getz is more aggressive/creative than his predecessor was. That's a low bar to clear.
  14. The only place they should be moving Moncda is the hell out of town. He's everything that's wrong wit this team. His lack of production, his bad attitude, his lack of desire to win, his style of play. Getz number one priority this off season has to be to get Moncada off this damn team. By hook or by crook.
  15. That's why unless my guy Will Taylor makes a jump which I'm really hoping he does I think they should go college arm. The organization obviously needs arms and there should be some pretty good ones to chose from at the top of the draft. I'm not a big Chase Burns fan but I'll give him the spring to prove he can start. I like Brody Brecht and Thatcher Hurd. I like Hagen Smith but he has to stay healthy which has proven difficult for Arkansas pitchers. Then there are guys who can make jumps like Jac Caglianone, Ben Hess, Jon Santucci, Michael Massey and Josh Hartle. It should be fun to follow these guys during the spring.
  16. I was going to make a joke that now Tyson Bagent's dad has someone to arm wrestle but that was Eric Thames. I have no idea who Marcus Thames is so it should be a fine hire. If they want to hit better get better hitters.
  17. Condon is a big SOB (6'6"215) and has big time power. He red shirted as a freshman and had a monster sophomore season so there's not a long track record here. He might be able to handle left field for a couple years before he moves to 1B but the bat seems legit and the power is massive.
  18. The first player Getz should sign is Tommy Pham. The Sox haven't had a red ass player since AJ and Pham is an all-time red ass. He'll turn that clubhouse around on day one.
  19. I think they bring him back on a lower deal.
  20. It's a dumpster fire. If Getz can get rid of the turds and turn the roster over it will be a successful off season.
  21. He''ll probably get that pick back by trading Johnson. Not sure that's the right move but they'll say finding a corner is easier than finding a pass rusher.
