November 10, 20232 yr Got a week… Candidates? Additions to not be exposed to Rule 5? 40 man is at 35. Any educated guesses would be appreciated.
November 10, 20232 yr Below are the players eligible for the December 2023 Rule 5 Draft per FanGraphs. I would assume they will add Veras, Eder and Mena. https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/white-sox Catchers Ivan Gonzalez; Victor Torres; Luis Pineda Shortstop Wilbur Sanchez Outfielders Wilfred Veras, DJ Gladney, James Beard Starters Jake Eder, Cristian Mena, Matthew Thompson, Chase Solesky, Juan Carela, Manuel Volez, Andrew Dalquist, Jose Jimenez. Relivers Caleb Freeman, Andrew Perez, Adisyn Coffee, Jeremiah Burke, Kade Mechals.
November 10, 20232 yr I think Matt Foster is the only real non-tender candidate. He'll be just a bit over league min, so depending on how his rehab is progressing, Sox aren't really in a position to be punting off potential relievers. Sox also in not really in a position to non-tender Touki, and I think he earned another look.
November 10, 20232 yr I'd add Eder and Mena and call it a day. I like Veras but don't think another team would select him in the ML portion. There's enough fat on the 40-man that adding him is fine, I just think the likelihood of a selection is low.

Sure that would obviously be a bad outcome in what would further the darkest timeline of White Sox fandom. I just don't believe a team would select and keep a fringey LF/DH on a ML roster all year long. If they add him to the 40 that's great, I like Veras and given the circumstances of the roster there should be enough space, I just don't think he'd be selected.

November 11, 20232 yr Another wasted Friends & Family move to add Elijah. He might have been the only hitter in Sox recently history to be eclipsed by Korey Lee. Caruso and Esteban Beltre ran laps around Elijah, comparatively.
November 11, 20232 yr Eder, Mena, Carela, Veras and Gladney are must keeps and will be added to protect them. Only one that I would risk of those 5 is Gladney just bc someone ain't wasting a 25 man spot on him yet, the others certainly could be lost
November 11, 20232 yr I'd non-tender a ton of guys off this horrible roster. These are 31 guys I'd protect: Banks, lhp Bummer, lhp Juan Carela, rhp Cease, rhp Crochet, lhp Jake Eder, LHP Deivi Garcia, rhp Kopech, rhp Lambert, rhp Davis Martin, rhp Christian Mena, rhp Lane Ramsey, rhp Sammy Peralta, lhp Gregory Santos, rhp Jesse Scholtens, rhp Matt Thompson, rhp Touki Toussaint, rhp Korey Lee, c Carlos Perez, c Romy Gonzalez, 2b/ss/of #Moncada, 3b Bryan Ramos, 3b Popeye Rodriguez, 2b/ss *Sheets, 1b/of Sosa, 2b/ss *Colas, of Jimenez, of Robert, of Vaughn, 1b *Benintendi, of Wilfred Veras, of

November 17, 20232 yr I love Bummer's stuff but enough is enough. He becomes "a deer caught in the headlights" when it matters. That we got some useful pieces is a nice surprise.

November 17, 20232 yr I would not tender Romy, too injury prone. On 11/11/2023 at 6:35 AM, Timmy U said: I'd non-tender a ton of guys off this horrible roster. Still like him, just don't think it's remotely a threat. I agree on a lot, I'd probably lose Romy too. I would also keep Cronin. That's about it.
November 18, 20232 yr The Reds non-tendered Nick Senzel. I can't believe that dude hasn't hit. He's still only 28 and I still think he has a season where he's able to stay reasonably healthy and his swing is locked in and he puts up huge numbers. I already died on that hill so who cares.

November 18, 20232 yr 5 minutes ago, flavum said: Brewers non tendered Woodruff. Yeesh. There is no incentive to spend more than $100M, really no incentive to spend more than $40M at this point beyond an MLB loss to the players union regarding spending of revenue sharing, beyond the handful of MLB teams each year trying to compete. Brewers are now at $97.4M for the 2024 26 man roster per Cot's Contracts after subtracting $12.5M for Woodruff. Wonder if the Cubs will be the only team over .500 this year in the NL Central, or whether the Cardinals will try to substantially improve to reach that low bar of three Wild Card Spot competitiveness.

November 18, 20232 yr So your team lost 101 games last season, not by design, and you tender every unsigned player on the 40-man a contract? I don't get that at all. I know people can be DFA'd and traded later, but I'm just confused as to why they ALL got tendered.
