So your team lost 101 games last season, not by design, and you tender every unsigned player on the 40-man a contract? I don't get that at all. I know people can be DFA'd and traded later, but I'm just confused as to why they ALL got tendered.

This was expected. There’s just no reason to non-tender anyone. All the guys who they’d get rid of are pre-arb and can just be DFA later.

There would have been rejoicing! Time for some churn even if everyone sucks.

Five more moves (Benintendi, Cease, Jimenez, Moncada and Robert Junior) would make Leury Garcia ($5.5M) and Nicky Lopez ($4.0M estimate) the two highest paid 2024 White Sox. :D

I'd argue there's reason to non-tender them if they're bad. They don't need to have the roster spot. I get why they didn't because they didn't technically have to do it now, it just annoyed me more that it probably should've.

Didn't Trayce Thompson and Clint Frasier already declare as free agents? Beyond that, I'm not sure what non-tendering Cease, Kopech, Crochet or Vaughn would accomplish.

Who was advocating for those four to be non-tendered? My gripe was in regards to more than a handful of pre-arb guys, which yeah they didn't need to do now, but my counterpoint is that they stink so why keep them?

Right. They’re going to add anyway so might as well boot some trash.

The White Sox need one or two actual catchers this year, as Lee looked overwhelmed and Perez needs work.

Any help the mostly AAA pitching staff can get from a good defensive catcher or two who can handle game management would be a big help.

They really needed this the past three seasons after McCann left, but they had mostly veteran pitchers in the rotation and bullpen who could somewhat work around the deficiencies beyond the endless passed and dropped balls.
