  1. Don't forget about Baty and Vientos too. The Mets are in. Not as heavy as the Yankees but they're definitely in. I haven't heard anything good or bad about Williams makeup.
  2. but they have bats. They have some really good bats.
  3. This is what I've thought they're gonna do the entire time. I don't think they're gonna step up and pay the price for Cease.
  4. I don't know if it's going to be unfortunate this year (at least in baseball). They have three big time weekend arms. If they stay healthy and the offense scores some runs they could make a run at Omaha.

  6. Please be smarter than the other dope who couldn't understand why it's good for the Sox to have the Yankees involved in trade discussions.
  7. MLB doesn't alllow the trading of draft picks because they're afraid the players agents will control where the players will land. MLB draftees already have a ton of leverage because they don't have to declare for the draft. HS seniors can go to college and collge juniors can go back to school for their senior year. An agent can say to a team trade my client to the Yankees or he won't sign. Trade my client to the Dodgers or he won't sign. They're afraid Boras would hold his guys out forever. The Mets will give my client a $10M signing bonus. Trade him there or he's not signing. I don't think it would be that extreme but MLB doesn't want to give the players an inch of power.
  8. He's got a nice swing too and he's listening to Chris Stapleton during bp. I'm in.
  9. I'm just out on the college 2nd base profile. Year after year these guys get overdrafted. I'd much rather take a higher ceiling profile at the top of the draft and take lower profile players later in the draft. I do think the Gonzalez pick will greatly influence the way they draft in the future and now that Jeremy Haber and his dumbass computer is out of the equation Mike Shirley will be able to draft the type of players he wants.
  10. https://www.mlb.com/news/first-full-2024-mlb-mock-draft Barf. I get it. The trend is your friend. Giving the Sox the low ceiling college guy is a great bet but those days are in past. New leadership. New direction. New draft philosophy. The time is now to start hunting high impact players.
  11. If they prioritize anything it has to be up the middle players. SS, SP, C, CF. Shirley obviously knows this and now that the biggest impediment in the draft room has finally been removed we will see White Sox drafts looking very different going forward.
  12. They need to start drafting the best player available and stop trying to outsmart the system and they will have a much better chance of doing that now that Shirley has control of the amateur scouting department.
  13. You know what MLB are thinking. Interesting. As a fan I get this is the first time your favorite team has been on the buy side of a transaction but this is what negotiation looks like when the seller has all the leverage.
  14. I wonder if Bob gets paid a commission on these deals. If nothing else he should get a finder's fee.
  15. This is what I've thought they would do this entire time. I just don't think they're in position yet to make a big move like Cease.
  16. Because they are a big market team with an aggressive GM who's not afraid to take a big swing. I heard the Yanks are WAY more involved in Cease than is being reported and that makes me much more optimistic of a deal getting done now that there's a big hitter involved.
  17. He's just cleaning up the bottom of the roster with cheap vets. He'll start working his way up soon.
  18. Damn that's a lot of money. I'd love to say Katz fucked this up too but ain't no way Gio gonna pass up money like that to come back here on a 1 yr prove it contract.
  19. So the O's are going to their minor leaguers and telling them what deals they are and are not going to be involved in. Ummm.....ok. Speaking of Houston, if Elias is running his rebuild like the Astros did they made their big pitcher acquisition (Gerrit Cole) going into year four of their window. Year four of the O's window will be next off season.
  20. He's a guy and they need guys. Plus he's a weird funky lefty and those guys are always fun. Stop crying.
  21. Over the last 12-13 years we've seen our defense go from bad to terrible to awful, to dreadful to horrific to comical. Thank god our new GM understands the importance of defense and will build a team accordingly.
  22. I 'm not very optimistic a trade is going to happen because the wrong teams are involved. There are no big market aggressive teams going after him just small/mid market teams who are content where they are. Yes the Braves are aggressive but unfortunately Cease is just a luxury for them. If they get him at their price great if not oh well they're still one of the top teams in baseball. The Sox needed teams like the Dodgers, Phillies, Padres, Mariners, Blue Jays to be involved to push the market and bully other teams to increase their offer. I just don't think any of these teams are going to step up and make a trade happen. I will say the Cubs are the one wild card who can get desperate enough to get this thing moving towards a conclusion.
