  1. I just did a little reading on this guy and holy crap he has more red flags than downtown Moscow. He's only 25 but he's already thrown a ton of innings in Japan with very high pitch counts. He's an extremely undersized (5'8") right hander w/a violent delivery and he throws A TON of splitters. I get the stuff is really good but when (not if) this guy breaks there may be no repairing him. Caveat emptor.
  2. I LOVE Trey Sweeney. He and Lux playing on the same infield would be really cool.
  3. Those will come in the Cease trade.
  4. and RF, 3B, LF, DH and 1B. Every guy underperformed last year except one. They were 29th in runs scored. All the new guys have to do is play to their averages and they can be a better offense than last year. That's how fucking awful that team was.
  5. He works for the Oregon St softball team. There's a Madrigal joke there but I won't make it.
  6. The pitching staff is ecstatic. This is a massive defensive upgrade over the turd they ran out there for the last 4 years.
  7. I have 3 right in the free agent contest. I'm on a roll!
  8. Boy that's a writeup on Gonzalez. Yeesh. What he has to do is come to camp with a new swing or with a new attitude and willigness to accept coaching especially after getting his s%*# pushed in against low a pitchers. Now how this new swing will affect his hit over power profile (yikes) remains to be seen.
  9. Ohtani taking his talents to Toronto would be an all-time shocker. Can't wait to see how this contract is structured.
  10. The guy I talked to said he doesn't get to enough balls that an everyday big league SS simply has to get to. Said he's gonna real good at 3B.
  11. Rule 5 draft is today. There are some interesting arms available. CJ Van Eyk's ceiling is likely a Jimmy Lambert type long reliever/spot starter role but he has a good chance to stick on the roster all season. Cole Wilcox and Matt Sauer will be a little riskier but they have middle of the rotation starter potential. They both really need a run of good health. Justin Slaten could be a high leverage back of the bullpen reliever.
  12. Surefire starter for me. 70 fastball w/an 80 slider. It's an absolute death hammer of a pitch. The change needs work but that's simply because he never has to throw it and he easily has the feel to make it an avg pitch. He checks all the boxes. Dude can be special.
  13. I'm not sure those guys will ultimately be the best players and outside of Burns and Cags who will likely end up a hitter I don't think any of the other top pitchers have significant reliever risk.
  14. That's because the draft has been run by fucking idiots. The scouts know the players better than Jeremy Haber's computer does. Get the hell out of their way and let them do their job. The results will show.
  15. Because of Jeremy Haber. For some reason he's still there but hopefully he doesn't wield as much power as he had when Hahn was gm.
  16. This draft doesn't suck. That's extreme. It's not as good as last year but historically it will be an average draft. There's a good mix of college pitching and some intruiging college hitters. The HS hitters are down a bit but there is great depth in HS pitchers. They will get a very good player with the first pick and a bigger bonus pool will allow them to add some impact players later so long as the scouts are allowed to do their job which I'm assuming they will.
  17. I'd be willing to give up Jacob Gonzalez, Jared Kelley and Carlos Perez. Maybe Gavin Sheets but they would have to throw in another minor leaguer.
  18. Getz can't say he doesn't like this team then bring back the same players. They made the decision that they are moving on from this "core."
  19. Man the Braves lineup is going to be unbelieveable. If they do get Cease they may win 120.
  20. Sure would've been easier if Hahn didn't lose all that money.
  21. Would have been awesome but they can't take on all that money.
  22. Their offense sucks so they trade one of their few good offensive players to dump salary. They better be up to something.
  23. The Braves are taking on about $30M in salary. What are the Mariners doing.
