  1. They're not going to take a short deal just to move him and I don't see any of these teams stepping up to pay the price.
  2. I'm starting to think it doesn't happen at all. They really needed an aggressive Dodgers team to push the market.
  3. Right and they're both worlds better defensively than what they've been running out there the last 4 years. They're both going to tremendously help the young pitchers.
  4. If statcast rated Grandal higher than Maldonado defensively that should tell you everything you need to know about statcast and I had zero use for it before. Sheesh.
  5. This is a good way to put it. I've been told that Elias has been very difficult to work with and I think it's because he knows what he has, he knows what he's going to offer and he's sees no reason to come off of that offer. I don't need to tell you it's been a long painful process to get where they are now and I don't think he's going to start making big aggressive moves while he's still playing with house money.
  6. Getz definitely is organized. For the first time the WhiteSox have an organization philosophy. He also got all the department heads together and outlined their job description, responsibilities, goals and how best to reach them. I was told people were "blown away." No one had ever done anything like that before. It's not going to happen overnight but Getz is turning this organization around.
  7. Right. They won 101 games last year and still have a young up and coming team. They don't have to do a damn thing.
  8. They use a different baseball in Japan. It's a tackier ball so pitchers can spin it easier with less pressure on the elbow. When Japanese pitchers come over here they have to grip the ball tighter to get the same amount of spin and that puts lots more pressure on the elbow. Add that to the fact that he's small, has a max effort delivery and throws a ton of splitters and the risk level is crazy high. I don't think anyone is questioning his ability but they should be seriously questioning his durability.
  9. Cease and Eloy back to the Cubs would be hysterical and freakin awesome.
  10. I do think if they miss on Yamamoto the Dodgers will shift to Cease. I also think for the Sox to get the best return the Dodgers have to be involved to push the market. They will be very aggressive while the other teams seem fine to just sit back and wait for the Sox to accept their offer.
  11. Agreed. I think this is a case of a team doing their due diligence and someone getting overly excited about it.
  12. I'm looking forward to a new coaching staff and a new QB next year. There are players here to be really excited about but Poles has to hit on all of the above. If he does this team actually has a chance to be special.
  13. I don't think that's the longterm vision of the team. I think this is a one year snap back for things that were so grossly ignored for so long. They're going to add power hitters but it's going to take a little time. This team is way too terrible to fix in one off season.
  14. Strongly disagree with the first part. Strongly agree with the second part.
  15. No more over/under slot. They're too fucking stupid to outsmart the system. They keep trying and they keep fucking it up. Just take the best player in every round and pay them slot. Listen to your scouts in rounds 3-10. They'll find the players who have some upside and will sign for slot. No more college seniors who sign for $10,000 and are released in 3 months. That's how you end up with zerp depth in your minor league system.
  16. He's an advisor to Reinsdorf. He was an advisor to Reinsdorf before he was manager. It's no different than before except everyone now is on hyper LaRussa alert.
  17. I don;t think this takes the Dodgers out of the running especially if they miss on Yamamoto.
  18. I think they need to get him out of the clubhouse. Eloy may be a good guy but he doesn't do what's neccessary to get himself ready in the off season or to play a game. With the new direction of the organization I don't think they want that type of bad influence around the new players they're gonna bring in. He's had plenty of chances. It's time to move on.
