  1. not for you but it is for many (not for me either) and I'd repeat the caution about posting anything that happens to be babbled about on wsi
  2. buckeyes remain losers to Michigan glad they won their bowl game and now back to remembering how Michigan owns OSU over the century
  3. Fear of what "they" may do is not a way to live. they will fail -
  4. Ken Berry Bobby Knoop Ken Kravec Ken Brett Tim Raines Julio Franco
  5. I'll bet you weren;t old enough to have lived through either his two regimes. Veeck gutted us by trading future for old and cheap to meet payroll and cover his other expenses. Fans who lived through it - as has been posted on ths thread with secifics - don't recall his trades with any fondness at all. If Veeck got you to buy into the image of him as baseball showman, he'd smile and take your money. But as Esau did in the Bible,. he was constanting trading away our birthright for a bowl of porridge. We could have been a real power in the 60s rather than also rans which ran out of players, and again in the Veeck 70s-80s era we traded away our potential to compete leaving us bereft of good players and a sink into mediocrity. In many ways Veeck is a hero of mine. My dog once chewed an autographed book by him. But he is no Saint Sox or Saiunst Baseball and his celebrity highlights the fun side of Veeck and obscures how he destroyed several teams - to the point where he gutted the Browns and then sold them to Baltimore, the destruction of out futue in Veeck Sox I and where in Veeck SoxII he would have sold us to Denver had he not been stopped.
  6. keep the vibe going - it may help!
  7. my football season is over now - tomorrow I switch from the Michigan jacket to the White Sox jacket - and Sox Fest can't come soon enough
  8. but doesn't Arizona play their regular season in that same environment
  9. you can say what you choose but stay off of my blue suede shoes
  10. he would have been at times "the enemy" in St Louis at USCF he would be the total hero, instant reception and love we must send good vibes his way
  11. just rumor and a lot of emotion expended needlessly
  12. not wher I was sitriting in right field, not an issue discussed at all, and I was there very early, strolling around the park, heard no one say anything about it. not saying what you heard in your section didn't happen, bceause it did, but I am suggesting it was something in your section, not a feeling felt about the park, cause I wandered the park and never heard it, after getting theri 8 hours early - yes, 8 hours yearly. Don't the media affect your opinions. Make your own mind up elsewhere. We know know his father was dying. We knew that then. He took care of business and let the young stars emerge for the next generation of fans. Bonds handled it precisely right. He may never be Mr Congeniality buty he gets a bad rap.
  13. Maddux would beter in silver and black than those padre uniforms
  14. Detroit also leads the nation in percentage of people with cell phones and for this we can wave the Canadian flag since Canada is south of Detroit and we have a bridge and a tunnel to get there which are used often for drinking and strip joint visiting by Michiganders age 18-20. and beside we have been at war with Canada (twice) - also with Ohio - forget that don't mess with Texas s*** (Texas is messy enough), don't f*** with Michigan - we may go to war against you
  15. that detail I had forgotten, thanks
  16. if you are only argung that we would have cheered him - and yu are not arging that we would have win many titles - I think he would have entered Royce status - his Sox numbers were nothing if he had developed without steriods but yet developed, maybe he would ahve reacged Ray Durham status and we would have cheered him some Sox fans have never really responsed to hot dogs, that is not what a Sox player is the revolving circus from Peptione to the college of coaches to Beck to Sosa has always been anorth side thing. the south side has always gone for players. look at what Belle did - and he was never embraced, he was rejected. Belle was no Sosa but the hit dog act would wear thin on the south side, I think, to me, as I say it, personal opinion, may be wrong.
  17. you had me with the first; the others could be overcome, after all we got Seaver for his 300th but there is nothing can be done with Boras as agent
  18. may you experience a night of erectile disfunction just for saying that
  19. not be contrary or fighting with you, I respect you highly so I ask most sincerely for my education becuase I respect you and do not doubt you: why won't that happen?
  20. Fisk vs Mags? No way. So we create two categories: best FA signing, major league player: Fisk. best FA signing, minor league player: Mags only way to do this - they are both among our greats
  21. but you assume Sosa would have led us to a title and I tell you that he wouldn't Herm would have kept him off roids. we would have lost Mags as explained by another poster. I explained other factors. all we would have ended up as is as a 2nd place finisher or lower with a guy who withiout roids would never hit over 20. If we got Sosa back mid season as we got Klu in 59 to help put us over the top for the pennent, that would be a whole different scenario. (With the reminder we losyt that series). I am saying had we kpet sosa, with no roids,. he would have done nothing for us and if I am wrong, stiull to many ifs and maybe and roster moves that would ahve happeneded and those that wouldn;t thatin no way remotely indicate we would have any world series titles withj sosa, just as the cubs have won none with him. And look at all the teams that won without him.
  22. my guess is Kock rebounds in 2004 and makes us all forget Foulke
  23. we should sign him, I really hope we do
