  1. God does not want you to shut down S&R nor the S&R message board. The first is a precious gift to us all. The second - where will go when the soxtalk server crashes? And what will happen to my Ozzie death watch?
  2. yo Iowa State boy, that is the definition of Code Terry. A Code Jerry would be very laid back.
  3. I was not one of the 95% then Molto I had high hopes for him he lost me with the lay down plays, not getting back into it it would be terribly unfair to blame one player on a 25 member team for the slow start, of course it remains a team game and I am glad D'Lo is not on our team he did introduce me to Sean Paul though
  4. Royce is to Congenialitgy as Buffalo Bills are to offensive powerhouse
  5. reading the thread title again - why would want to? No thanks.
  6. USC is a team that is losing its bowl game USCF is where the Sox play. with mistakes like that in your posts, I am not donating a damn red cent
  7. only way to do it nothing in life (and baseball is life) is guarenteed except, as Bart Gimatti wrote, baseball is designed to break your heart, and IMHO what you get out it is what you decide to put into it. I put into it fun, familyu, and friends, and what I ahve gotten out of that are memories that will real forever - 70 years from last June my grandson will remember the overnight with me, and 70 years from last July he'll rememebr going to the all star game with me, along with all the stuff we do at USCF, and what price to put on that - no monument will ever bear one's name that can't be destroyed but the memories of good times weith oens you love, that can never be taken away now I wish the could remember watching the Sox win the world series with me but if that never happens in my lifetime, my life is worth not a single thing less because of that not happening
  8. not sure what IlliniBob does but I go to 20-30 games a year and live two states away so it is an effort in $$$ and time. I get more than my money's worth. It is a very worthwhile investment in being somewhere I love watching the team I love with the friends and family I love.
  9. Not true. I was at 2 of those games and watched every moment of the 3rd. Not true. We lost 3 close games, period. No need to overstate.
  10. No one "hates" jimenez. He was a terrible ball player. I have never seen a player lay on the ground during a play like he did when he missed the ball. He'd just lay there and not get back up and get back into the game. That might be msised on tv because the camera follows the ball and play, but going to games, saw it too much, once was too much - he quit on plays. And he was poison in the clubhouse, made Royce look like Mr. Congeniality. Hate? No way. Way too strong a word. I hate war, not a baseball player. Never want to see him in our unform again does not equal hate by any remote stretch of the imagination.
  11. no no no no no no no no no no no that lazy ass on field quitter ego maniac? What Cincy ius paying his is stupid but far better them than us.
  12. Just asking - this is a real Sox fan and it was just an email comment and I can't find it anywhere but I am at work and can't look much and I haven't heard back from him where he heard that sorry to have troubled anyone
  13. a friend of mine who knows his stuff emailed me and mentioned in passing "looks like we signed Ponson." did we?
  14. making me look???? ok I will but I want Nomar starting at SS in April
  15. why only 12 days left - and everyone knows I am just silly about the shortstop situation so don;t be disappointed you must mean you have 121,121 postings days left - I enjoy your posts, you can't go
  16. the thread title caught my eye all Italian men are studs, just to state a known fact
  17. thing for names here today Cali?
  18. now here is a theory that I have never heard before
  19. Nuke, I am virgin pure here. I was a fan of Royce, in fact, I was Royce's only fan. I also felt that he had to go since his presence was divisive and no longer productive. I have tried to cheer for Jose a lot - he has given us some great moments - but I also spent too much time in 2000 wincing every time the ball was hit his way. I still wince when he has to make a routine play - the tough plays he can handle, it is the routine plays he will botch. If you sat with me a game, all you would audibly hear is cheering for Jose - I always cheer for our players - but I sure do wish we'd get rid of him too and find ourselves a real shortshtop. There was no doubt after 2000 we needed a shortstop - everyone agreed. We got all excited about getting ARod but Texas obscenely outbid us so we got the guy who ARod replaced. If we don't get Nomar, we have to have a shortstop somewhere. Brandofan will now respond with the a pro StJosE6 post - that's ok, last May he was still promsing the Sox would win 60% of all the games that Jose played I still remember that, brando - brando's loyalty is commendable - I think we need a new shortstop. Near the end of the 2002 season is my hope we'd lose both Royce and StJosE6 and I still hope the rest of that comes true. And he is way, way, way overpaid at $5 million
  20. me neither and I don't recall anything about him either this morning without looking anything up I remember getting him but he made no impact on my mind, tiny as it is
  21. damn it eat slower and get the others to play and get hooked too
  22. picked up 11,500 bonus points tonight - finished 18th nationally in one game - and now at 725,200 total

    Interesting

and my point Critic which I failed to make well is that those are frivilous to me but that is so utterly a subjective opinion that it is not applicable at all to what should be on the board - yes, the other forums exist for the reasons that you state and are more active now for the reasons that you state - and what i was trying to say is, if a thread seems stupid, just skip it - because if a threas is fun to others, as annoying as it may be, maybe best to let it go because what is good or not good to one person is not the same as what is to another. The other forums are one of the things that make soxtalk great. The variety of posting topics is fun and in fact I have learned much from others in many threads. And it is intended to build community. I wish I had expressed myself better because I agree with you all the way. You just said it better than me.
