  1. ever have a day where you've had enough? I have. This thread is about to be as pointless as any we have ever had and as potentially destructive. Jason, I see you are out there. If you weren't, I'd be be real inclined to close this before this fight gets to be more more than it is. And it might be just be me but there are days when the shouting and verbal trumps of each other drive away all and any joy of being here. Damn it all I come to get away from stress. Why can't people here go without having to have the last word?

    Simas

I am amazed he is still around in baseball he was always a favorite of mine
  3. damn good source, that is, Steff and if an official request is needed for their file, all we do up here is write "I request a copy of [whatever] under the Freedom of Information Act" but if you have friends who will just copy, nothing wrong with that either - it is public record I'd like to see the extension park when USCF got its name to see where the contract to keep the Sox in chicago was added. Good luck!
  4. People actually do that? That is sick. Tug McGraw has been sick for a long time. He had far more personal courage and class in facing down the brain cancer than any ha ha ha hijinks of guessing when people die on a sports radio show.
  5. That should be public record but as to it being available online, I wonder. It should be available under the Freedom of Information Act however if it is not online.
  6. Steff, thanks. After all the discussion on it yesterday, your having the real thing is very helpful. By the way, I don't want it - I work with enough legal stuff all day as it is!
  7. please be careful on the ice returning the videos. The rest of what you say, in my personal opinion, is unnecessary and unwarranted. Some folks do know some people. Its not that hard really. Steff is a person that I can vouch for personally having a lot of connections and when she has something to share, she does, which is good, because the info is good. Has she ever been wrong? No? Ok. Steff got hold of the collective bargaining argeement. She doesn't say where, just that she didn't pay $20 for it. She is a fantastic researcher - I know because I am and she is excellent. If she got it from a player, she didn't say, those were your words. And I would rather doubt that she did she I am sure most players don't have a CBA sitting around that available. But if she did - so what? You are the one dropping names, not Steff. Patrick Bateman is a name dropping name to begin with anyway. In all the hostility in this world, why add to it other than that namiong yourself after a Bret Easton Ellis character may require it? Not every thought deserves to be posted. Steff is a good person, Steff is my friend, and I do not like seeing my friends bashed - especially unfairly.
  8. I wish we had kept Robbie but too many questions I guess about his declining hitting. I wish him well. He had to come down on his salary - I thought the comment in the quoted news article about other lucrative offers was pure fantasy - he'll sign for where he can and best wishes always
  9. You see I'm, just Marshall Mathers I'm just a regular guy, I don't know why all the fuss about me Nobody ever gave a f*** before, all they did was doubt me Now everybody wanna run they mouth and try to take shots at me
  10. Steff has always been of the best researchers of soxtalk where I ever to hire someone to do research, Steff would be first choice always her skills and tenacity are impressive
  11. there is no reason to be excited about anything really - and I don't mean that negatively - every year scores (or more, hundreds, who knows the exact proportions) of trades get discussed to every one that happens - this stuff gets talked about all the time - SCORE needs something to report on an otherwise slow Monday - I have no doubt people are talking but no point in any of us holding our breath - if it happens it does, if it doesn't it doesn't like so many other possibilities bandied about if a deal is really going down, more likely than not it will not be public knowledge until it happens - it wouldn't stun me if it happens or stun me if it didn't
  12. he was certainly not unsung and wouldn't be my choice anyway I have never understood the big deal about the home run in 1993 - it was inevitable that we would clinch going into that game and someone would have gotten the hit to do it - not like that home run changed the course of anything - it just happened to supply the inevitable he did have very good marketing going for him however
  13. Hershberger is an inspired choice

    HAPPY B-DAY 1549

yo bro HB and always M! Go Blue! you are a good guy and a good friend best wishes always
  15. I have two Samoyeds - Ch Tall Oaks Tomas WS Farfel (you better figure out on your own where the name Tomas comes from and what WS means) is far better looking than this but I have no good pic of him - and he is a great dog in every way dog 2 is Tenoch Clayton Farfel and he is a very personable dog but has lousy breeding and looks like this (no good pic of him either) both dogs attend games at USCF but we have never made it to Dog Day yet - they go other games - and for breeds good with kids, Sams equal or beat labs (I had a wondeful lab, so I know first hand, my lab Fielder was so good I'll never have another lab since she was the queen of labs). Sams are my breed, it is now 34 years I have had at least one Sam. Today we are having a snowstorm and we went for several long walks - 20 below, wind at 30 miles an hour, a snow blizzard, and my digs think it is just wonderful weather so today's little snow storm was a small treat but a treat none the less.
  16. neat idea! a section on controversies would be a good way to deal with this and other matters, such as Shoeless Joe, etc. I shall work on a post in which I make my feelings about Rose not belonging in the HOF more clear!
  17. i got tears in my eyes reading those names... I think one of the most under rated players going back a few more eras is Bibb Falk
  18. please don't presume to tell me what to read - I don't need your help - my comprehension rate is quite high - what this thread involves much of is high school and colege kids who come into contact with cubs fans who trash talk on them and they wish we woiuld make moves to counter act - my point as your comprehension failed is everyone is a favorite in January, especially when the fans who know elast aboput baseball loudly proclaim that their team is the favorite. Why get your panties in a bunch over it? Other posts point out that the Astros are quite set and my yet sign Clemens. Just cuz loud mouth cub braggerts are going on and on (the same people who said Wood and Prior would never lose two in a row at home guarenteed) that they are favorites because of these moves, it is early January - there is a lot of time for things to happen between now and the start of spring training - then there is spring training - and then the early months of the seasons when deals still get made as the recently recalled ones that got us Graf and Perry in April and May 2000 this thgread is open to everyone, including me, to post my opinion - and my opinion is there is a whoile lot of over reaction going on. Texsox gives the best advice - agree with the scruibs fans to shut them up and sit and wait patiently for their tam to collapse. But for the "woe are us, we children are tormented by our children friends who say the cubbies are great and we suck" maybe theiure should be a separate children's forum to separate out that sort of thing for what soxtalk is about - mature discussions of baseball and things Sox the cubs are not our enemy - we only play them 6 games (all 6 of which I wish to win) - our enemy is the Twins, the Royals, the Tribe, the Tigers, and every AL team - our team keeps winning the season series with the minor league north side team, we have the all time record, that is all that matter regarding them. As for us, I I hope we never engage in moves to keep up with the scrubs - we need to be competitve in the AL, not make moves for the smack talk in junior high locker rooms everywhere. and if you are an anti-cubs fan, this is not your forum - this is a Sox forum for Sox fans.
  19. better KC having Juan Gon than us - might in fact be a huge plus for us once he decides he doesn't like waterfalls or Pena or the KC music scene or stockyards - once he finds his "beef" he will quit on them as he has done so many times before
  20. but please don't miss the 19th century Geman and French literature and operatic allusions in this thread between brandofan and me Biblical allusions, operatic allusions, 19th century German and French lit allusions - all par for the course here at soxtalk! we be educated!
  21. that one still hurts - ow - what was anyone thinking on that?
  22. Could of quoted Murcie or Nuke - both say it well there is no way in hell Rose belongs in the HOF - he is a liar and a cheat and anyone who thinks Rose belongs in the HOF is just one more sucker, hustled - which is what he is trying to do to everyone now Rose's baseball accomplishments are in the record book - all he deserves - he does not belong in the Hall of Fame, only a Hall of Shame. He disgraced the game I love and lied and lied and lied about it. We of all people know what gambling does to baseball. And who did we throw the world series to - and Rose was ignorant of the ramifications of betting on baseball? Those who love Rose can suck his cock all they want, anywhere, anywhere but in the Hall of Fame.
  23. are we Sox fans or anti Cubs fans? I am a Sox fan - what that minor league north side team does will not occupy my thinking for two minutes this week or any week except when we play them. You want to fret and get anxious and worry and have your stomach in knots and crown the cubs king in January? Go ahead. Your lives. (Oh but my friends are talking smack to me. Big f***ing deal.)
  24. I've read through that tedious thread on WSI. The $3 figure is just a number tossed out by Daver. As for the rest, it is total hearsay - some guy has a buddy who heard... there is nothing remotely confirmed about it I know things are slow but the expressions of utrage or whatever might best wait until we have an idea if this is remotely true - and somehow I doubt it is
