  1. you mean Tourette's Syndrome? I know I am very ancient and no fun, but making fun of things which afflict a person are not funny. Some day it may be you being mocked - and that is what it feels like, mocking. Do unto others, ok? I have a client who is in a world of her own and she wrote to me in a lucid moment, "it is not easy being a paranoid schizophreniac." No, it is not easy being anything outside of the norm. To not have control of your own body and to not be able to do what you want, not be able to be what you want, at all times, is not pleasant. And to find your body doing things that you wish it wouldn't and you can't stop it - that is traumatic. Be happy for what you have and don't make fun of what other people have. Again, I realize I am old and no fun. But I do find no humor in the afflictions of others, and I sure hope no one finds humor in mine.
  2. Of course we knew Sandy would be back, future Sox coach that he is, and resident of isn't it Humboldt Park? That is why I didn't actually read the press release I got but posted just what I was sent - which was last year's release! I think that is funny! I am glad we have Sandy - he seems to be a great mentor and teacher.
  3. It will work for 2004, it will. With all the money we are saving by not writing new press releases, we can sign more players!
  4. This email just came - read the first words: Sorry about that. The first press release that I sent was from last year. This is the correct one. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, November 26, 2003 WHITE SOX AGREE TO TERMS WITH SANDY ALOMAR JR. ON ONE-YEAR CONTRACT WITH CLUB OPTION CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms with catcher Sandy Alomar, Jr. on a one-year contract worth $750,000 that includes a club option for the 2005 season. Alomar, 37, batted .268 (52-194) with five home runs and 26 RBI in 75 games with the White Sox in 2003. The veteran catcher has spent the past three seasons with the Sox (and part of 2002 with Colorado), posting a combined .265 (185-697) average with 16 home runs and 84 RBI. He compiled a career-high .997 (1 E/388 TC) fielding percentage last season and ranks sixth among active players with 1,188 games caught. Over his 16-year career, Alomar is a .275 (1,113-4,126) hitter with 109 home runs and 543 RBI.[/color]
  5. I posted this without even reading it - copied right from this afternoon's email - damn, it is, it really is, last year's press release! That is the PR department version of Bevington calling for a relief pitcher with no one warming up! What goofs!
  6. official release WHITE SOX AGREE TO TERMS ON ONE-YEAR CONTRACT WITH CATCHER SANDY ALOMAR, JR. CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free-agent catcher Sandy Alomar, Jr. The deal was announced this afternoon by Ken Williams, White Sox general manager. Alomar, 36, split the 2002 season between the White Sox and Colorado. He batted .287 (48-167) with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 51 games with the White Sox before being traded to Colorado on July 29 in exchange for pitcher Enemencio Pacheco and cash considerations. In 38 games with the Rockies, Alomar hit .267 (31-116) with no home runs and 12 RBI. He combined to throw out 13 of 49 (26.5 percent) attempted basestealers at the two stops. “Sandy is the perfect guy to come in and mentor our young catchers, Miguel Olivo and Josh Paul,” said Williams. “We know what type of player he is and what his presence means to a clubhouse, and he knows our pitching staff and the American League.” “In addition, it was Jerry Manuel’s desire to bring Sandy back because he has been instrumental in the development of our pitching staff. We’re looking for him to continue to provide that veteran leadership.” A career .275 (1,081-3,932) hitter with 104 home runs and 517 RBI over 15 seasons, he currently ranks sixth among active players with 1,113 games caught. In two seasons with the Sox, Alomar batted .264 (102-387) with 11 home runs and 46 RBI.
  7. 1. Child... and while you are still 30, keep playing Jefferson Airplane's song "Lather" - Lather was 30 years old today, they took away all of his toys, his mother sent nespaper clippings to him of his old friends who stopped being boys... 2. for sports and music, it is not called "age" or "being old," it is called "perspective"
  8. I didn't mean to imply that at all. Writing is a skill that I did not master on that post. Fisk was my all time personal favorite too. Get me going on how the Sox have f***ed up through the years and that episode always comes up. In fact, if you want a little hilarity at SoxFest, buy me 3 screwdrivers in the space of 30 minutes and I do a wonderful exposition on "dumbest f***ing moves the Sox ever did."
  9. That is something that I really, really wish we could do. You know I am not remotely happy about the way Fisk was treated.
  10. Getting back players we have gotten rid of is not my way of building a team. Its like you can't get a date on Saturday night so you go through your phone book and calll former girl friends. Yesterday's gone. The past is just a goodbye. Turn the page. Cameron really dislikes the Sox, the only place he hits is USCF, and his overall stats aren;t so awesome. We can do better. We already have better. I'd rather pay CLee. There is something to be said for taking care of your own and keeping them. So many people complain that the players show no loyalty to the teams. It goes both ways.
  11. by "old" do you mean someone over 16?
  12. are you in for a shock when they give you the surprise quiz at the gate of heaven to see if you get in!
  13. The latest issue of Rolling Stone ranks the top 500 alkbums of all time. The Beatles have #1 and 4 albums in the top 10 and 5 albums in the top 15. Just saying.
  14. I have a mid range gearing loss - for no reason that anyone can determine - about 50% of the dilaogue of Master and Commander is the range that I cannot hear - I wish they had English subtitles for movies like that -
  15. I thought it was serious and I was pissed as hell. I am glad we are at least got a different Cameron.
  16. your writer is very wise on Ozzie.
  17. We would have to move a few players (or at least one, PK) out to give him a place to play, but the one player out there who I always wanted to see in a Sox uniform is Sexson.
  18. No point in trying to sign Pudge, he will not play for Reinsdorf again. Since Pudge is unavailable, maybe we could go after IRod??????? There is only one Pudge and he wore 72.
  19. you are of course speaking of the saturday game against the cubs in 2001 I thought no one remembered that but me
  20. In upper deck plastic blue seats I saw 2 division championship teams, including the 1993 doubleheader where we clinched the tie, and 2000 playoffs. In upper deck plastic blue seats I saw the game where Fisk tied the record for games caught. In upper deck plastic blue seats my grandson sat for his first ball game (and in fact, most of the ones he has seen). In upper deck plastic blue seats I have spent countless hours with friends and family, with people I love. I will never get a seat from old Comiskey. As far as I know this was my shot at having a seat from the ballpark.
  21. I have just sent my first ever angry email to the Sox. Unfortunately my Sox representative had to get it because I knew no one else to send it to as he gets stuick being the conduit, which I regret as he is a really nice guy and great rep. But if some Sox seasons tickets holders were told they could buy by phone or internet and others were not, then we have two classes of people - the special people and the who gives a f*** people. I sacrifice a lot of other things to have my seasons tickets and travel a long way to the poark and spend a lot on transportation and if there are two classes of seasons ticket holders, then perhaps I should say f*** the Sox and their organization. If I am not going to be treated equally, than the amount of money that I spend on the Sox can be placed elsewhere. I am that angry. How do I ever make it up to my friends who went for me on Saturday morning for that fiasco, when I took the Sox at their word? And whu should I pay lots of money to belong to something, the class of seasons tickets holders, and have the Sox act as if it doesn't mean a thing to the Sox, that others are more special than me? As for the non season ticket holders who got screwed over, I am angry about that too. I can understand being surprised by the demand, but since no one got accomodated, and since they made people wait that long, then they need to learn a few things about doing things right.
  22. That exact phrase "Spahn and Sain and pray for rain" went through my mind. He was truly a gifted pitcher.

    Rumor

that would be one reason I have no use for Griffey on the Sox
  24. MrSarcastic was put in green to sggest that while you have attacked Michigan and its program before, I was doing a double green, double negative, saying in effect that you are not sarcastic. Appreciation of Irony and a gentle tweking humor are in short supply these days it seems. Much discussion was held on a UM message site on the comments and your view was the majority one, and it turns out, your view was Coach Carr's view, hence, his apology. However, friend, whatever level of sarcasim and vulgarity you wish to go with, please do feel free. Hope school and life in New Englad is going well.
