  1. we signed Navarro over Clemens because our GM thought Clemens was "washed up" and Navarro offered more. Which is why I am never to be invited at any party honoring him.... it will just het nasty same GM hired Bevington - and no, no "boo" to JM, within three seasons JM gave us a division champ with a walking wounded pitching staff - it became time for JM to go, but there was good in his tenure and I will salute that
  2. there are two admins that ae usually anonymous for their own reasons and I am one of them for reasons relating to events of last October with HSC/BMR/clujer/psycho there are several posters who also are usually anonymous and they have their own reasons HSC does sometimes come over here anonymously - the admins can all clearly see who all is here, anonymous or not to everyone else - I have not seen HSC here tonight, that does not mean she was not here at all, just that when I checked, she wasn't - I would suppose she was because of the Steff thing but to my knowledge she was not here tonight

    hey quickman

bags, you posted and then admitted your error and apologised - bags is a good friend and one night when my father was very ill and I had spent all day in the hospital in Chicago dealing with my father's possible death (he didn't die, he pulled through) HSC and bags and RPS and Mario and a few others traveled a significant way (because I get lost in the suburbs) to spend some time with me letting me unwind. Everyone has their good points and things that are less than that. My parting of friendship with HSC was very public. That won't be reversed. That doesn't wipe away the fact that she was there for me at a time when I needed friends. Bags has always been a good friend, just as RPS and Mario have been - and others are too. I didn't know Steff then and I am sure she would have been there for me if we had known each other at that time. Steff became special to me over a baseball game that I never got to and she knows that story - without her that night I would have gone crazy and she was kind in a situation where others would not have been because she understood the realities of life as some don't. I don't want to see good people taking sides against others not directly involved because they stand by their friends. Bags is friends with HSC and I respect that. I don't expect my friends to pick and choose their friends based on my things. The people who are actually in this, let them be. Let's not be taking sides against others who stand with their friends. Let's not make the fighting extend beyond the parties. Bags, I respect your sticking by HSC and calling her to be supportive because she has been good to you and cares about you. I am standing by Steff here all the way - and bags, I know that you respect me for that. I have problems with HSC over some things, friendship ending things, but I also will acknowledge the good things that she is and has done. I am babbling now but this is a plea against blanket condemnations of others and a plea that we don't turn this into a brawl that effects things here - the problems are at whitesox.com, not at soxtalk, and I wish there were no problems anywhere.
  4. I am trying to figure out how the hell Steff's name got dragged into this. And I sure don't blame Steff for being pissed as hell.
  5. More proof Kerry is way cool! and I am glad no one has pics or recordings from me doing the same thing which we all did at least once in the 60s
  6. she did, huh? I am not surprised. And you nailed everything else exactly right in that same post. Which is why I was hanging with who I hung with rather than with who I encountered when I was looking for RPS.
  7. Col46 is not NCorg. Col46 is actually a retired military and was an avid collector of Sox memerobilia. He is listed in the credits of several films, including Eight Men Out, I believe Field of Dreams but not positive on that (all those Sox unis...) as well as White Sox: A Visual History. Col46 posts because he is a huge Sox fan. HSC did have season tickets. Last I knew she was talking of not renewing them. We are not friends anymore so I have no idea if she renewed them or not. What Aboz has said about her speaks for me. Some of the other players there, I know. FoxieMVP (no friend of NCorg's; I have met him several tiomes and spent an evening at the Stadium Cluib with him), chisoxjohn (a friend of mine), rudylaw, etc. t is through HSC that I met baggio who in fact exists and is a real person and a very nice guy. I met RPS and Mario and a series of Mikes who led me over to soxtalk after previous fights over at whitesox.com For all the conspiracy theories - and no I have not met NCorg personally but we have tallked about some things and he always checked out as far as I could tell - I always got tired olf people bashing Ncorg and his bashing back. He was not the only one who said KW was going to quit; one of our own distinguisged posters (and I mean that sincerely) also said the same thing. Things that NCorg stated were verified other ways, including Frank's talking to LA midseason (last year? 2 seasons ago?) over the Diminished Service Clause. But I have never met him so I cannot vouch for him. Woever he has been poster and email wise, her has always been consistent, I never spotted anything that was not consistent with other stuff he said over a period of years. Claims of knowing folks does not indicate deception. Hell, I have tailgated with MB's parents and brothers, and sat with one of MB's brothers, and still correspond with Rocky Biddle's parents. If a person is not an asshole seeking things and goes to the park often enough, anyone can meet folks. I have seen Hawk, DJ, and others acknowledge HSC, she knows those folks (how well, who knows, but enough that I have seen them pick her out of a crowd.) HSC's father lives in B'ham and she spends time there every summer and knows a lot of the players. Whatever the truth is about NCorg, does it really matter?
  8. we get hits from Texas, yes.
  9. Thanks, everyone - here is something I couldn't ay this morning because I don't like to jinx things - but the Sox (almost() always win on my birthday and the cubs (almost) always lose on my birthday - and once again and again, thanks all!!
  10. anyone who says throws the ball back is a f***ing scum asshole piece of s*** who should be permanently banned from USCF forever
  11. anyone who throws the ball back is a f***ing scum asshole piece of s*** who should be permanently banned from USCF forever and that was the best way I could put it after several rounds of prayer of the subject
  12. go back and read the game thread title - and look who started the game thread - and see when the game thread was started - and what it says under my avatar -- the fix was in on this game last night
  13. as one rereads this thread with all the b****ing and whining and wrist slashing, I am not sure many should be celebrating - the pessimism and carping and crying and negativity far outweighs any realization this is a 9 inning game and - Sox win for those of us who always believe
  14. you must have a stutter, too many years of no playoffs and I am one of about 3 soxtalk posters who were aliove the last time the Hawks won a Stanley Cup but you were all alive for 3 recent Red Wings ones but still, inning and score of the game?
  15. just for the hell of it, anyone with a score and inning? (and by the way, the Hawks are the suckiest team in Chicago that does not play on the North Side )
  16. her brother works for ESPN, I believe, IIRC Ncorg has been a friend to her when she had some tough times Steff's understanding of why HSC left here is correct
  17. official Sox release: WHITE SOX REINSTATE MAGGLIO ORDONEZ FROM DISABLED LIST; OPTION FELIX DIAZ TO CLASS AAA CHARLOTTE; CHICAGO – Prior to today’s game vs. Anaheim, the Chicago White Sox reinstated outfielder Magglio Ordonez from the 15-day disabled list and optioned right-handed pitcher Felix Diaz to Class AAA Charlotte. 18. yo, old friend, HB!
  19. don't be - you are one of the few posters here who can spell "ridiculous"
  20. by Mary Pitt www.dissidentvoice.org July 3, 2004 In perusing newspapers and websites regarding current events, one would be led to believe that all Christians are right-wing Republicans and that all Democrats and "leftists" are Godless Communists. In fact, quite the reverse is true. There are many in our nation who are devout Christians and are Democrats and Progressives by way of living their deeply-held beliefs. One can understand why the "evangelicals" are attracting all the attention. They have, for years, striven to make their voices and their beliefs a major political force and have adopted a militant attitude in accomplishing this. Their major target is and has been the hands-off attitude of the government and the courts regarding abortion. They parade in the streets, picket and even bomb medical facilities which they suspect of performing abortions. Several medical professionals have been killed and maimed in their pursuit of forcing all Americans to abide by their religious taboos. More recently, they have become militant about the attempted marriages among the gay population. To that end, they have influenced the Congress to pass the Defense of Marriage Act, but that is not enough to satisfy their urge for power over the personal lives of other citizens. Now they demand nothing less than a amendment to the Constitution. It appears that they consider legalistic fiat the only way the "bring America to God". On the other hand are the "quiet" Christians who believe that they can lead others by example, by living their religion in quiet faith and service to their fellow man. Whereas the Evangelicals spend their time studying and expounding upon the caveats and prophecies of the Old Testament and Jewish Law as well as the dire projections into the future by the Book of Revelations, the "quiet" Christians study the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and attempt to live according to His exhortations. "Love thy neighbor as thyself" is one of the primary lessons taught by Jesus, along with The Beatitudes. These modern-day followers of Christ are all too mindful of the answer by Jesus to those who would have made Him an earthly King, "My Kingdom is not of this world," One must remember that the Christians who actually followed with Jesus on His journeys of evangelism DID live in communal groups and shared possessions, meager as they may have been. Jesus taught them that they must live under civil law while also abiding by the Higher Law regarding their personal behavior and aspirations. They were told that they should pay their taxes while not seeking after personal riches, to work for their sustenance while sharing with those who could not work, to maintain their bodies in healthful condition while healing those who suffered from ill health, to constantly strive to conquer the evil that lived within themselves. At no time did He tell his followers to commandeer the government of their nation and to pass laws to force others to live according to His commandments; rather His concern was that His followers concern themselves with their own souls, influencing others with their kindness and the serenity of their exemplary lives. Gone were the old laws requiring death or mutilation for specific sins; forgiveness and love were the new watchwords. His followers were expected to live circumspectly and to present themselves as an example of the kindness of a loving God. This is not to say that all "quiet" Christians are totally pacifist, rather that they are not in accord with violence for its own sake. They are quite capable of righteous indignation, which many are currently feeling at having their faith represented by hatred and war-mongering in the Name of God. Neither are they people who will march in lock-step at the command of any earthly leader, but are thoughtful people. They realize that any law which demands that a woman bear a child can also prohibit that woman from bearing children if she chooses and any law which allows a government to give money to church efforts can require the church to abide by governmental rules which may prohibit church practices or beliefs. You will not see these "quiet" Christians shouting prayers on the street corners or placing huge stones engraved with the Ten Commandments in public buildings, though you may see them, as ordinary citizens, marching on the streets with signs in opposition to what they consider an immoral and unjustified war. You will not see them accosting 13-year-old girls in front of abortion clinics, but you may see them, lovingly and forgivingly, counseling that same youngster to help her recover from her psychological trauma so that she can complete her growing-up process and get on with her life. You will see them marching to the polls in November and expressing their distaste for the behavior of this administration and its Evangelistic "compassionate conservative" leadership which has caused so much hate around the world toward Christians in general and so much agony among our own people, not only for the deaths of our youth in an unjust war but for the worsening fortune of the poor and afflicted in our own neighborhoods. If there is a time for "quiet" Christians to raise their voices in defense of their Lord and to allow their justified indignation to express itself, that time is now evident. It will not be done by shouting prayers on street corners as was done by the Sadducees and the Pharisees. It will not be done by "the sound of trumpets" with great fanfare. It will be done to the cadence of thousands of human feet, marching to the polls to cast their votes in favor of a "kinder, gentler nation". And, God willing, we will prevail!
