HSC and I both prefer it outside under the sky, not inside whether it be baseball or anything else and since we are both stunningly attractive, we certainly welcome crowds - as long as we get 25% of the gate and 40% of concessions and parking, and we maintain all video rights
-
you of course are the exception to every rule!
-
HSC, ever wonder if we put the phrase "f*** Mark Buehrle" on the sign outside USCF and put him naked on the mound with a bed, that we'd have more people buying tickets than at a cubs game? Talk about a Ladies Night out... and you know damn well his team mates would get into arguments over which of them would be the biggest draw --- or just the biggest -
-
a. that wasn't clear b. by deleting it, i made sure that no one assumed you meant that in a negative way - so that was a good thing. In fact, no one would have known you posted anything at all except you have just - pardon the phrase - outed yourself. You talk too much. If you ever left anything alone... left well enough alone... And for the record - I do not think WSC is weird, or any more weird than any other member of this forum. Every human being has their own eccentricities. That wsc posts whatever comes to mind is not a trait shared by him alone, to be damn sure. WSC and I have been fellow posters on the mlb boards and here and I consider the guy a Sox fan and a Sox friend. WSC, rock on. You may be the sanest one of us all.

sorry HSC I failed to be more clear on what I was trying to say - I got your point and was trying to agree and it came out wrong - sorry - I remain a diehard MB fan as always

i am not in the mood for people telling others to die - so delete, close, and move

isn't it kind of egotistical to consiuder yourself 96% of all of sotalk?

it was a long trip from new york to detroit.. and i was tired from the plane ride..??????? and Paulie didn't share last night and the noise from his room kept me awake all night
-
now HSC, you and I know FOR SURE that MB does not engage in pity parties - that is not the way MB is or operates - he has not having a prime year and he had a rough outing as all pitchers do - for example, Clemens gave up 8 D Wells gave up 9 MB gave uo 8 and even Cotts gave up 5! I think it is Mars so close to earth, actually
-
and if I recall - we left 15 stranded in 3 games in NY - 12 in 1 game in detroit - that is the difference of course in the Ws and the Ls
-
we have been doing that a lot the past several years, but it also has been kind of a historical Sox thing for most years over the past 40, more or less, since the era of the Go Go Six ended. we had the hits tonight, but not the runs. very typical. damn
-
me? just walked in the door and put the game on I am going to be in Ann Arbor tomorrow and thought about heading to Comerica after that but this effort tonight does not seem to inspire me much
-
wrong constant commenting on every damn thing is a sign of a DEEP inferiority complex drinking early tonight?
-
no gotta stay home sometime and tomorrow I have football at the Big House anyway

and what is it that the manager is putting them in best psoition to win - a game, one game, or something more? A manager can do anything to put the team in psioition to win one game - overwork a pitcher, whatever. However, the season is 162 games long and perhaps a post season. I much prefer a manager who is putting the team in the best position to win long term than just one game. And that requires a different strategy and different usage of players.

Hawk questioned some of JM's moves in 2002. He said JM had a bad year in 2002. Is on record with that. He wants the Sox to win, and will express his disgust from time to time. Hawk may question some of JM's moves. I question some of JM's moves. I question some of my own moves. None of that is earthshaking. I have never seen one person agree 100% on another person's life. LaRussa is vilified on the card's MLB boards a lot, as LaLoser. And by the time Hawk fired him from the Sox, LaRussa was being challenged a lot in Chicago. The first time Hawk spoke of firing LaRussa, I was one of a firestorm of folks who called the Sox front office and daid fire Hawk, not LaRussa. A few months later when Hawk did the deed, it was pretty apparent that a change needed to be made for everyone's sake. In a lot of ways I wish LaRussa was still managing us but then again the constant LaRussa sucks threads herer would piss me of too. The only constant in baseball fandom is that every fan thinks they know more than every manager and if only given a chance, they could manage a team to 27 straight world series titles, which is why Veeck ahd such fun with his "fans vote on what play to call" promotion. Connie mack had some dismal seasons and some world championships. Stengal was a loser before he got to NY, won what, 10 world series in 12 years, an incredible feat, and then two years later lost 120. Which makes my point that the manager did not lsoe yesertday's games, the players did. The game would have gone to extra innings had we not given up the last two runs. Or we could have scored more and other players could have hiot like Everett did. The players lost yesterday's game, as they win or lose every game, as a team effort.

JM's job is not to make everything he anticipates doing so very crystal clear that every opponent knows his every move but what the hell, the members of this board will be happy. If JM blows smoke about possible moves, that is his job, and it is more important to keep the opponents guessing than to do a single damn thing so that everyone here stops calling him a "windsock." Ever consider that Cooper may have advised not to start MB, to give him an extra day's rest, or maybe Herm did - and why the hell would they make public, so Trammel knows that MB might be hurting a little? And given that MB has lost 12 games already, why is he a guarenteed win all of a sudden when he himself said that because he has never pitched there, he may have been nervous as hell. In fact, a few months ago, I was one of the few here defending MB at all when he was 2-10. A few months ago a bunch of posters wanted to ship him out, not start him against the Yankees. I think the windsock accusation goes to a lot of members of Soxtalk, not to JM. Rogers makes an excellent point about playing the staff apropos of our experience in 2000. For the rest, I cannot help what anyone else does not understand. Visceral hatred is just that and is beyond reason, logic, or understanding. However, I will note that I feel very comfortable about something when I am in agreement with rexhudler and YASNY. Two of us have been around a long time and seen a lot of baseball and the other two are people that I consider baseball exoperts and veterans.

YASNY says it for me too.

Season Series Undecided (Tigers YNOT)
cwsox replied to DonkeyKongerko's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
1) Who will win the series (CHW/DET) (2 points)? CHW 2) Will Carl Everett hit a homerun (Y/N) (2 points)? no 3) How many errors will the Sox make (4 points)? 1 4) Which Sox starter will have the most innings pitched (4 points)? MB 5) How many hits will Jon Garland allow (5 points)? 5 6) What will R. Alomar's OBP be for the series (I'll give .050 either way) (5 points)? 335 7) How many times will Miguel Olivo reach base (4 points)? 2 8) Who will have more RBI, Magglio Ordonez or Carlos Lee (2 points)? CLee 9) Who will lead the AL Central after the series (2 points)? Sox 10) Will Mike Maroth lose his 19th game of the season (Y/N) (2 points)? yes TIEBREAKER: Run differential (Sox runs minus Tigers runs) 16 -
good comments chosk8 and so many people have forgotten the possibility that JM and Copper might have decided that MB needs an extra day - but that would wreck that "I hate the manager who has us in first and has won us a division championship" conspiracy theorists latest vendetta
-
thanks for posting this quote
-
your theory is another one that I like - as well as MB needed a nother day of rest, and every other reason advanced as to why Cotts yesterday. I am tired of the JM bashing.
